Skyler's new diary

i'll let you know. i've never been very good with the protein shakes (as i get sick of them) but we'll see...

gonna go grab a salad for lunch :) and have pilates tonight, so that should be good.

been stressed lately, so the exercise will do me some good.

paula, i saw your diary says: It's a new protein powder called Six Starr Body Fuel and I believe you can get it at GNC and some Wal-Marts...

are you still using that one? what do you mix it with, if anything??

i'm going to try your diet out and see what happens...

thanks again.
Skyler, I get mine at Wal-Mart and I mix it with COLD water.
Protein shakes aren't my favorite either but when I take a couple a day, I can see the difference. What's nice about this one is you only mix 4 ounces of water with it so it goes down really fast and the taste isn't bad at all (I only get chocolate flavored). If you try it and you honestly can't do it, let me know and we'll substitute it for something else in your diet. Also, give this diet a good four weeks and you should see a difference.

Kate, the taste of this powder isn't bad and it's only 4 ounces like I just told Skyler. Probably the worst ones I've ever had are EAS (soory Bill :() so if that's what you've had, try something else before giving up on them completely. :)
Also, I don't know if they still do this, but GNC used to give you your money back on protein powders even if they'd been open and used; so something you might want to ask them about if you decide to buy it there just in case you don't like it.

Paula,

what's the benefits of the protein powder vs. eating actual protein?

did you follow this diet for your current successes? I see you lost another 2.5 lbs. WOW. i'm going to go to GNC :)

WOW, that pic makes me want to follow your schedule to a T. thanks. You are in amazing shape. I didn't know if protein shakes had any calories, etc. so that makes sense. I'll have to go get some...and that will be good for my snacks that i seem to miss throughout the day..
the only trouble i see happening is having cottage cheese & lettuce for dinner...if i am not alone...but i guess i could replace with chicken/fish (protein source) and a green veggie if my FH is around and eating with me ;).

thanks again. i'm going to go to the store tonight and get that stuff and go from there....today was okay in the calorie department but i had a grilled cheese for lunch (that salad bar just didn't look good today)...will have protein and veggies for dinner..and pilates tonight :).

paula - one more question - for the supersets - i can do those on any days just as long as i get two days of upper body, two days of lower body, not consecutive throughout the week, right? i just dont want to throw myself off if i miss a "scheduled" day and blow the week (which i've done in the past), so say - arms-tues/friday, legs-wed/sat would be okay as well??

i would think so, but you may have more tricks up your sleeve ;).

As long as you don't have any starchy carbs, feel free to replace those choices with any other form of protein and veggie... see you're getting the hang of it! :)

Perfect! See you really are getting the hang of this! Pretty soon I'll be asking you for advice! ;)

well, pilates was exactly what i needed tonight. i feel strong and good. even my FH commented that i was skinny...i know it shouldn't matter, but he NEVER goes there...EVER. he is very careful to just not say anything, but it was like he couldnt help himself ;).

dinner - 2 veggie burgers (no rolls)
water adequate today - 50oz for now and can get the rest in tonight.

thanks again PAULA. You are awesome.

Hey Skyler! Congratulations on losing another lb! Doesn't it feel good? You only have 12 more lbs until you reach your goal. Keep going! I know what you mean about stepping on and off the scale, I do it too, to make sure the measurement is the same 2 out of 3. See you at the finish line.

ugh....

i had a TERRIBLE day yesterday. i really can't remember the last time I was so horrible. the day was planned with wedding stuff...appointments at vendors..so, it starts off OK..go to florist, had 1/2 a bagel before i left my parents (with my mom)..not so bad (at least i didnt eat the whole thing)...then afterwards, picked up my fiance and father and went to the tux place..picked out tuxedos for everyone..then we were short on time, didnt have much of a choice with lunch, dad wanted to go mexican - yikes! i actually thought i did okay comparatively to what I COULD & WANTED to order, but instead got a veggie plate..some black beans, spinach/cheese enchilada (but it wasn't overflowing with cheese), and a chili rennenno (Sp?), along with TWO margaritas. the whole family was drinking them, yes, but geez. THEN, we had an appt for cake tasting. I again, didn't GO CRAZY, but i had to taste them and taste the different mousse fillings and by then, it probably came to a full slice of cake (which i never eat cake). anyways, we go back to my parents house to thank them for all their help and everything, and my dad cracks open a bottle of wine, which i proceed to have 2 glasses...my mom then decides to celebrate & have a toast with vodka martinis (NL- not spilled with a straw, but a whole one)....and THEN, a couple hours later, they order dinner. i am not the slightest bit hungry, drank TONS of water, and somehow managed for them to order sushi..which i ate some of but not too much as i could barely take it. i then proceeded to get sick. i literally must just have gorged myself all day, didnt pay attention to ANY of my new rules , probably had enough calories in liquor for my entire day and feel SO YUCKY today. i cant even figure out my calories b/c i got sick..not sure if it was the overload (probably) or the cake or the combination, but yuck!!!! that's really the first relapse that i've had in about a year and it feels horrible. i know it is just one day and i learned a LOT from it,but now i just feel gross and not sure where to head from here. i guess just get back on the train and get back to my regular caloric schedule? i am dissappointed in myself, but i have to believe that everyone has relapses, but yuck. that's all i can really say. :(

i really need to hit the elliptical HARD today but my belly is KILLING me from yesterday...just gotta power through, i think.

hopefully this doesn't screw up the successes i've been having or throw me into a "stall period" again....

i must confess and it feels terrible.

Hi, Skyler! I know how you feel. Just take it easy today. First of all, you had family and fun and celebration, and second of all, it was a wedding planning day! You're allowed to taste a piece of cake while going cake tasting. Plus, if you have not done those going over-board things in a whole year, that's an amazing thing in itself! Make the next few days lighter then usual(but do eat if you're hungry), give time your body to recoup, and start with exercise when you can. If you resume all your work like before, most likely one day is not going to make a difference. It may even help in a variety department, and give a boost up to metabolism. Try not to dwell on yesterday, and don't make yourself feel bad about it all the time - this in itself may do more harm then good. Just make a mental note of what had gone wrong (probably too much alchohol:)), and file it away for future reference to avoid. Other then that, just get back on the train, and do what you always do! Bad days do happen to all of us (some more then others, and I mean me :) he-he-he. ) I seemed to have a lot of them lately. :(. Do whatever you need to do to get your confidence back, and move on! You can do it! :)

thanks NTL. i just went to the grocery store and loaded up on veggies and protein and healthy stuff for the week. so, i feel better about that. i am going to try paula's diet this week and see how that goes. still have to make it to GNC.

my stomach STILL hurts. crazy how life-changes can really change your body feelings when you do something (like binge like i did) that you arent used to anymore. definitely a lesson learned!!

i had a plain bagel and a lot of water so far today. i truly am not hungry and everything sounds gross :(.

anyways, i'll check in later..maybe in a few hours, i'll feel ready for some healthy food...

thanks for listening to me vent.
