AThanks Cate, Maryann and Brawny!
Cate, I do have a busy life right now and a lot of demands on my time...my husband is retired (he is 13 years my elder) and sometimes, I wish I could just stay home and play ! I guess that day will come, and I will look back on these super busy times with fond memories...losing the weight really has made it easier to cope!
Maryann, you are right...4x 20 pound bags of flour..I can't imagine lugging that around...I don't even think I could lift it...but that's what I was forcing my feet and legs to do all the time...and my heart...my poor heart! My resting heart rate now is I. The low 60's the la time I checked...I 'm pretty happy about that. I did enjoy the salmon by the way...I could buy a whole fish of some sort here...just not sure what's I would be eating, or where it had been!
Brawny, not sure I would classify myself as skinny yet...the clothese hide a lot of flab...about 29 pounds worth to be exact! Yes, Omar the tent maker had some business from me...now, I'm dealing with his younger, more attractive brother! You always make me smile

Today, I got back on the scale, and I've lost 2 of the 3 pounds that snick up on me over the past 2 weeks. I think it was mostly water weight, so I' almost back on track. I did 45 min on the elliptical and 15 min yoga stretches and back on the stair steps from the 3rd to 12th floor. Of all of that, I'm really enjoying the yoga the most...feels so good to be getting some flexibility back...gotta go back a long way to even talk about flexibility...before I couldn't touch my toes because my gut got in the way...now I can touch toes and slowly starting to touch other parts that have been out of reach for quite some time!

Prayers going out to anyone on the east coast of the US and Canada tonight,

Sarah

Hey Sarah - 60's resting heart-rate - that rocks! ...bet your heart is so happy ... :p

sounds like you're enjoying the yoga & flexibility improvement -

so many perks to "healthY" eh.. ? ( I can touch my knees on good days....lol..)

good work on the 2 lbs. gone & being back on eliptical & stairs...& just think - with all this "healthy" work you've done - you'll be so fit & strong & full of energy to enjoy retirement once you arrive there ! - keep it up gal. !

cheers,

Maryann

Thanks Maryann,

I am off to Shanghai today...so won't be around much for the next week, hoping to go for some interesting runs in Shanghai on the Bund or maybe across some bridges (to do some hills...which we don't have in Shenyang)

Good choices to all...it's a journey not a race!!

Sarah

Hi Sarah, I think you do a great job combining your busy work schedule & your exercise & your marriage. You seem to have a really good balance. You will enjoy your retirement so much more because you will be slim & healthy, xoxo Cate.

AThanks Cate! Some days I really look forward to a slower life... Sometimes I feel I will be bored... Time will tell!
Maryann, I feel for you on the snow! I saw that Beijing got a big snow storm, not sure if my neck of the woods got it too...I'll find out Wednesday night I guess. I try not to fly out of Beijing in winter for this reason! I don't have to shovel snow though!

Today, I started the day well with 60 min on the elliptical followed by 15 min of yoga (really a good way to cool down and stretch myself and work different muscles after the elliptical), then a big late breakfast here at the Hotel. Lots of chinese veggies, eggs, a small bit of fried rice and some meusli. Then a rise on the metro here in Shanghai to a big park on the outskirts of the city for a nice long run for the day, not sure of distance, but set my iPod fitness to 90 min, and cranked it out. Then got back here to the hotel and had some tuna, apple, clementines and walnuts. I brought some tuna with me as I like it in the evening, and I bought the fruit here at the market. Perhaps with some double duty exercise, it will offset some eating indulgences on this business trip.
3 long days ahead this week, including a late night on Wednesday flying back to Shenyang, and an early start to the day on Thursday...not sure what my exercise routine will be like over this week...fitness center does not open until 6:00 and I really would like it to be at 5:00, but we'll see if I can go early and who knows, it might be open!(I think I remember that has been like that in the past at this hotel)

Good choices to all this week!

Sarah

Hey Sarah ...

Good work on the eliptical/yoga & the run out in the Park outside Shanghai sounds lovely.

Your food choices all sound very healthy - fruit, lean protein, some nuts - ...good girl ! ( being healthy even during the "busy" of work travel)....

Good luck with your up-coming long-days....

wishing you continued healthy-good choices & safe trip back.

cheers,

Maryann

AThanks Maryann,
You are always so positive! Thank you! Today, I took a day off exercising, after a late night trip back from Shanghai. I was worn slap out last night, so I will get back on it tomorrow...Friday...so ready for Saurday! I did take advantage of being in Shanghai and went to a tailor there and got some nice jackets..I'll put a photo on when I get a little rested..I have to admit, they look good!
Not much else going on ...glad to be back home here in my routine...next weekend, going to the US..long trip, and multiple time zones...but that is a week away, so I can gen up my exercise and yoga before that!
Good choices to all!

Sarah

Sarah, you hardly ever keep still these days & deserve a day off! I'm tired just reading your diary! Trip to the US in just a week? :svengo:Goodness me! On that note, I had better skedaddle. Bike to ride, shower & then visit both mothers! Cheers, xoxo Cate

Hey Sarah - glad U are home safe n' sound - sounds like U are ready & eager to have a week back in your "groove" & routine - before heading out again ,

...Happy Exercise & Yoga & relax/recharge weekend..

cheers gal,

Good morning all! I got up early (no surprise there!) and weighed in and I'm finally lost a pound from where I was a few weeks ago (after that upswing with business trip to Europe), so now I'm at 175.1 with % bodyfat at 33.7%. With that knowledge and feeling a little refreshed, I went to the park and ran a long run (24k...yes, 24k!) That's a little over a 1/2 marathon, and I am tired and a little sore already today, but I feel good. I'll do some yoga a little later today to stretch out. I'm hoping that will jolt the fat loss even more, and get me on a good start before the next buss. trip.

It's cold and sunny here in shenyang...just the way we like it!

Good choices to all, and enjoy your weekend!

Sarah

Yay Sarah ! Yet Another POUND gone !.... super-size - Nah , Super-Skinneee - YAh ! ....great work to lose - even with all the travel.... Good Work !

bth_zoomer.jpg

24k run - U Rock ! ...( I think the furthest I've ever done - on my bike - was 30k in one day....)

Way to GO ! .... super accomplishment- & great prep for your Great Wall run.~ will shake up your little-bit of fat left for Sure !

bth_runner.jpg

Cold & sunny here today too - arrgh - winter ! .......

cheers,
Maryann

AHey Cate and Maryann!
Yep, I did do the 24k, then took a break, and back at the elliptical yesterday and today. I 'll do the stepper tomorrow and continue to do a little yoga to stretch out and relax before I hit the stairs. I did my measurements over the weekend, and for the first time they are roughly the same as last time, although I feel like I'm still getting firmer.
It's cold any snowy here in Shenyang now..winter is here! Good excuse toget out my new jackets out and start wearing them !
Good choices to you all!

Sarah

Hey Sarah - good work on the eliptical, stepper, yoga, stairs....wow - thats' lots of exercise

- You are getting so strong & fit - way to build muscle & burn calories !

& thankyou for the idea of "cleaning out the closet" - trying on some smaller clothes really gave me a boost this weekend. :hat:

It's cold & snowy here too - been mostly overcast and grey for almost 2 weeks now - finally forecasting some sunshine next couple days- can hardly wait - will hopefully be able to do some outside noon walks again.

cheers Sarah - enjoy those nice warm jackets of yours and get out into that fresh crisp air - It's Good for Us !

AGreeting all from chilly Shenyang. I seem to have caught a cold, so I'm now sipping on a hot ginger tea (it's actually a can of coke cola, with fresh sliced ginger boiled and seeped..it does open me up...high calorie and against my "no soda rule", but necessary right now to breathe! I'm have to count that in my calories count ...hmm. Not used to that!
I ran this morning on the treadmill, I really don't like running on a treadmill as it can get quite boring, but now that's I'm in the official train up for the marathon, I want to do it by the book as much as possible...so I did my 45 min run/walk on the treadmill...slow and relatively easy, but I do notice it a little in my legs..maybe that "random" incline had something to do with it! I figure that is good for the legs too and the. There was the 10 floors of steps afterwards...gotta be good for the legs, and I do get a little winded now on the steps, but not much..I can really tell the difference which is nice.
Trying to get ready mentally for the bus trip...and making my plans for how to continue training and eat well...not obvious when it's a new hotel most every night...but, one day at a time, I'll make it!

Good choices to you all!

Sarah

AI just did a test on the BMI calculator...I will have to weigh 159 for it to say I' in the "normal" range (as opposed to being over weight... That is 15 pounds away...I can do it...may take me a lot longer than most, but I can really see me doing it! For the first time in my adult life, I will be 'normal weight! Just 15 pounds to "normal"...wow, it's the little things that help on cold, winter evenings! The marathon train up should help me get there...gotta do it!
Sarah

hey Sarah - sorry to hear you under the weather - that sucks ! ...hope you are feeling better soon ...

36_1_31.gif
... I must admit I have never heard of coca-cola boiled with ginger-root - but if works?...what the heck....

Good thinking to plan ahead on your bus-trip & many hotels...maybe some jumping-jacks in the room if all else fails- where there is a will, there is a way.

Good work on the treadmill & stairs ( even with being sick ) .... I admire your dedication....

Your Marathon training is the ticket for you on those last 15lbs. to Normal weight ! ....just how far you have come...

...now just hop-on that "training-train" gal - and right up that hill to the top - & your on-going Success !!

choo-choo ...

I got up early this morning, went downstairs to the fitness center and ran 45 min on the treadmill, then did a few minutes of yoga, then hit the steps to finish off. I got a little perk me up when I got back...I stepped on the scale (the old, what do I weigh before I go on business trip number) and was pleased to see that I'm now at 173.5 pounds...now that is after the run and after a BM...so it may not be accurate and it may be too optimistic...but it was nice to see! It should motivate me to keep it going while I'm away. This is a photo of me running last weekend in the park here in shenyang somewhere in the middle of the 24k...taken by my dear husband!

Maryann, I would love to report I'm feeling better...but, I admit, I would be lying...so I just keep trying to exercise it away and not give that cold any attention! I won't be on much over the next week, so just know we're thinking about you and keeping you in our prayers!

Good choices to all!

Sarah

Hey Sarah - Amazing picture ! u Rock !:hurray:

& YAY on 173.5....( it's so silly - the power that darn scale has for folks...but it Does feel GOOd to see that number change eh ?.... ) :hurray:

..enjoy the trip & good to hear U are power-thru the flu/cold ...just be careful to listen to your body - don't push too hard - your body needs R&R to fight the bug too.

see ya when Ur back ! cheers, Maryann
