Hey Sarah - hope the travel week went ok for you.

I am off on my week to Florida - so won't be posting for a bit. (it's really been grey here a lot these past weeks - lots snow, little sun, so am really looking forward to the break )...

.. have my "travel plan-"

- 1/2hr walk each morning ( with listening to Fat2Fit podcasts)-to keep my mind on-track with "healthy choices"...

and No Fried foods ( including FRIES... ), and NO Sweets ....

see U back here soon ,

cheers,

maryann C.

AHey Maryann and Cate!
Travel is still ongoing...I'm sitting in the Toronto airport as I type this. My food was hit and miss this week..lots of eating out and not a lot of good choices...last night was the worst..had something called a seafood casserole (scallops, salmon, shrimp, lobster, butter and cream and some type of breaking...God it was so good,...but all that butter and breading took all the good choice out of it! So I don't have a lot of high hopes for maintaining the 173's when I step on the scale. I did ok in the exercise area...got in the fitness center most every day.
Getting ready to get on the long flight back now..more airplane food.
I did have some fun moments this past week when I saw people that I hadn't seen in a long while (since before I started this journey) and some didn't even recognize me, and even the TSA agent looked at my passport photo and commented that I had lost weight! I actually did but a size 12 US pair of pants...they are a little snug, but they have some Lycra in them, and look good and I figure it will give me good motivation to get some more inches off the hips and really rock 'em!
That strategy worked for me when I bought my size 14 jeans...and they are loose now! I'm looking forward to 'showing off' a little when I go back to the US for Christmas to a family gathering! I also bought a 'size Large' knit dress with a big wide belt..somethin i would have never bought before..I plan to wear it with high boots...getting sassy in my old age and new old body!
Take care all and good choices (better than my recent ones!)
Sarah

~Getting sassy? I like that! Way to go Sarah! I had a few passport moments after I lost weight. It's a great feeling! xo Cate

AWhat a great compliment to see the difference between now and your passport photo! Unfortunately my passport is almost expired and I gained weight after that photo was taken almost 10 yrs ago. Congrats on the dress! I hope to someday feel comfortable in a dress and am inspired by you and your boots :)

A few days with choices is inevitable and good practice for when the maintain stage hits. You're so great at keeping up with the exercise I doubt it will have much of an effect. I saw an advertisement for the Great Wall marathon the other day online and thought of you! Best if luck with your travels and training!

Well, I'm back at home now...weighed in this morning at 172.4...and I'm at 96 pounds lost at right at 18 months into the journey right now...I can't believe it... I actually lost a pound in that world trip. I think I actually was a little dehydrated when I weighed in though because I really can't explain it..the exercise I'm sure helped, but I was sure I had eaten too much...and that continued last night when I got in (was hungry, so I ate...and this morning, when I got up (after I weighed) , I ate again...) So, this afternoon, I'll go exercise and try to get back in the groove! I guess I should take it when I can get it!

I got a new app on my phone and a blood pressure cuff while I was in the US, and I took my blood pressure this morning, and was pleased that it is 101/69 with a resting heart rate of 55...I've never had a resting heart rate that low that I know of, so I'm sure the exercise is paying off!

Cate, thanks for your encouragement both here and on myfitnesspal...you're the best! I did put on my "sassy" dress this morning to show my husband...he liked it. I'll get a photo one day this week.

Alice, I'm so proud of you on the 5k! Looks like you were right...a day didn't hurt too much!

Good choices to all! If I can lose this weight, anyone can!!

Hi 5 Sarah! My resting heart rate last Thursday at the blood bank was also 55 & the woman commented that I must be very fit. Welcome back &

WELL DONE on the loss!!!!!!!!!

xoxo

Hi Sarah,

thanks for the welcome, and the support - I've been shopping since and now there's plento of nice food in the house, which helps enourmously with not craving any :)

Exercise ... I love walking too, but only if there's something to look at (nice city, beautiful nature ... just walking around the block for the sake of walking, not so much) - I will do quite a bit of exploring here in the coming weeks so that will help, and for those shorter, potentially boring walks I have a SERIOUS collection of audio books stashed away so will use them as a carrot!

One day at a time, as you said ...

So you live in China? I'm not sure where Shenyang is exactly ...

See you around!

Ix

AGreetings all, what a tough couple of days at work...jet lagged and stressful 2 days at work...in the past that would have meant carbo loading on the comfort foods at night...I'm happy to admit, it's been business as usual in my eating and I am tired, but not over eating. I've been getting up early, and doing my exercising and am still on track on the marathon train up. Today, I did 30 min on the stepper, followed by 30 min hill routine on the treadmill running, then did the steps from 3-12 floor. A little cold here today in Shenyang (by the way bluebird, Shenyang is in the North east part of China)
I'm feeling good for my weight right now, feeling like I 'm on a good roll down to the last 29 pounds...I'm in the 20's for the remaining weight to lose, and within 5 pounds of being at the "US Army screening weight...since, like never!!

Going to bed soon!

Sarah

Wow! you are doing wonderful! Won't that feel awesome to rock a pair of boots and a dress! I'm hoping I can feel like I'm looking that great for Christmas.!

AThe tough work days continue...maybe after I get over jet lag, I'll get some rest and it will be a better day/ week! Thankful tomorrow is Friday!
Today, I did 50 min on the treadmill, on "hills" and that little routine is helping to break the boredom on the treadmill. My eating is ok, not great, but ok. Motivation is still good, still excited to be very close to the 160's!

Rainy,
Thanks for you encouragement! Going to wear that dress and boots this weekend...I'll get a photo!

Good choices to all!

Sarah

AWhat a journey, within 29 pounds of the goal weight and still going strong. Hope the jet lag passes soon and congrats also on closing in on the 100lb loss mark.

As always, thanks for continuing to pop by the thread and offer support and encouragement.

Well, weighed in yesterday, and back up a pound...I knew the 1 pound loss after the US trip was too good to be true...so I just soldier on, one ounce at a time to take off the fat! Cold and snowy here in Shenyang to day, had planned to run a 5k in the park today, but ended up doing 45 min on the stepper instead. Still feeling jetlagged and not at 100%...honestly speaking, ready for a long break, but that's not on the schedule yet..come on Feb vacation!

Thanks Feelinggooder! Always nice to see you drop in!

Sarah

Only one pound Sarah? Well done. You are probably just about the only one who could travel to the US & only put on one solitary pound!!! You will have that done & dusted in half a day I'm certain. My weight varies 2kg from day to day! :( That is the main reason I only way occasionally. xoxo Cate

Not liking this new forum layout...took me forever to get logged in and find my thread...old age or what?
I still have not uploaded my party dress from the weekend...one day soon! Can't do it easily from my iPad. Not sleeping well these days...may be more than jet lag. I actually am feeling almost skinny these days when I look in the mirror...yes, I still have a fat roll around my belly and hips, but with the running and step work, it's firming up..I can really feel it in my butt when I do the stairs in the mornings after my cardio and before the short yoga session. The yoga is really relaxing for me and does work my core muscles at the same time. I may try to find a private teacher who can work with me next year to make sure I'm doing this stuff right!

Cate!
Thanks for helping me find the forum again! I just wasn't mentally prepared to have to go in and reset passwords Etc...hope all the newness is over with for a while...I guess I'm not liking change! By the way, love your profile pic! You will have a great time in Europe, and my favorite city, Paris!

Afford choices to all,
Sarah

Trying to get a pic posted...frustrating!

WOW! Look at you!

Hey Sarah! WOW!! You look wonderful. You really and truly look fantastic! I love that you have gone for the belt look & the boots. WAY TO GO SARAH!! You are looking really slim & fit. Persevere with the forum. It used to be similar to how it is now & I thought it was much better back then. It will just take a bit of time to iron out the faults along the way. Maybe I won't be posting in colour any more but I can cope with that. I like playing around with fonts etc but it was time-wasting really. I like that our posts seem to be saved as we type. That may save a lot of hassle. I had better scoot & quickly post in my diary. At the moment it's in the Cohen's section, where it used to be, but Sean will move it soon & it will be easier to find. Cheers for now, xo Cate

Hello allcdnboy, I didn't have problems with uploading the image, just a slow adapter! Where are all the other photos I have uploaded over the year? I used to have a link to a gallery that had a pic/month to show my progress...would be nice to have that back!
Thanks,
Sarsh
