Are you gonna weigh in before Hawaii? If you bust that 200 it might keep you motivated to not lose too much ground on vacation.

Hey Brawy, Yes,I'll probably break my own rule and weigh-in before I go to Hawaii! You're right...it will probably help to keep it going while there...and hit the fitness center at the hotel.

Speaking of fitness centers...I took a break today...as hard as that might seem to some of you, I just felt like I needed a break, so I laid in this morning...and took a nice leisurely shower... what a nice way to start the day...not every day mind you, but today! Then, put on some slacks I had made back in the Fall, and they are really starting to be loose!! I'm going to make them last through this winter, then when I change my wardrobe, I'll put the 2nd time around "big pants" in the other closet and get them sized before winter next year...I should be around my goal weight of 150 by then and be stable...wow...that will be nice!

Breakfast was not very apetizing to me today...so it was 2 slices of bacon + 2 fried eggs and my normal cranberries, cheese and walnuts mix and some hot tea.

Another full day in store at work today and another dinner tonight!

Have a great day ya'll! (I can say that...I'm originally from KY and I've lived in SC!)

Sarah

So today, after my liesurely start to the day seemed like it never slowed down at all today at work! Lunch was fried rice, chinese veggies and sweet n sour pork. then dinner was another appreciation dinner...felt like all I ate was 2nd hand smoke (that's one thing I really don't like about China...there is no such thing as a no smoking section!)

Things I remember eating were peanuts, a few bites of pork, some stirfried celery and a pocket bread thing with spinich, eggs and baby shrimp. It's always an adventure to eat at these things. I've got 1 more tomorrow, then done for the year! Tonight was memorable...it was Karioke bar/restaurant (still really big here in China...no matter how good or bad you sing, as long as it's loud it's considered good!...and I "had" to sing..so they found something in English and I made do...what I did for "duty, honor, company"!

So tonight, I'm beat...getting ready to take a nice long hot bath...then back at it tormorrow!

Absolutely nothing wrong with a break once in a while to recharge your batteries!

You will be right back at it tomorrow I bet.

Maybe at that dinner tonight you should make a toast to "no more dinners" (maybe not)

So today, started back on the elliptical for 1 hr for 868 cal. and then breakfast of 3 slices of bacon and 2 fried eggs and the usual dried cranberries, walnuts and cheese mix.

Big meetings today at work where all of the staff comes into an offsite hotel location and we do the big "Thank you for last year" and "Need your help to make this years plans a reality"...followed by the big daddy appreciation dinner...all day...woo hoo! But, at least with this one it will be done. I'm feeling good about myself...got my new "skinny" clothes on, and feeling confident...good to have the "old me" back (one day at a time!)

Greetings all!

Sarah

Hi Sarah, I just caught up with your diary this week. You are so committed to your exercise that it's inspirational. I'm sure that it is the key to success, especially with maintaining weight when you get to goal, but also on lifting mood & encouraging us to eat healthily. You have such a busy job, with so many expectations & obligations & it's admirable how well you cope. Good for you fitting into slimmer clothes & finding that 'old,' but really 'new' self. With your new commitment to exercise & eating as healthy as you can I'm sure you'll be fitting into smaller clothes forever. Cheers, Cate.

Hey Sarah I just wanted to drop in and thank you for popping into my diary and encouraging me when I know you are so busy yourself.

Thanks Cate and Rosered for stopping by and your great words of encouragement!

Today was a very busy day as planned..had a banana and 5 little mandarin oranges for lunch before going offsite for the meeting...then did my presentations, then buffet dinner (now this was a big offsite meeting...1000 people to feed dinner...even though there were 5 big buffet areas set up, it was still standing room only in line...I ended up with a couple of slices of roast beef, a few noodles 3 wedges of watermellon and2 tangeloes...finally got out of there at 8:00pm...now, settling in for a nice weekend with no obligations! My idea of fun!

Sarah

Good job on not going off plan too much at the buffet! I am not yet strong enough to allow myself into a buffet line. Not going anywhere near one of those. Usually this time of year I have to go to Austin for a school administrators convention and there is a lot of good free food. Im talking big steaks and mexican food but this year I decided not to go. I actually decided this several months ago but at least now it will help me stay in my health groove.

I second brawny's sentiment. I just passed on an invite for lunch as I'm not going anywhere near a buffet line for another month or two at least...

For some reason I keep treating buffet dinners like a contest to see how low I can get the cost per pound of food...

Hey Brawn77, Cate & feelgooder!

Thanks for your encouragement! Today has started out well! Went to the elliptical for 1 hour for 868, then 25 min on treadmill for 176, then 5 min on the rowing machine to get by back stretched out, then I'm now up to 15 crunches on the incline board (without it hurting!) and a few repetitions on the weight for my upper body. Feelin' good! Then breakfast was 2 fried eggs, 3 slices of bacon and sauteed green beans & carrots (doesn't sound very breakfasty does it?) Then a double portion of my walnuts, cranberries and cheese mix.

Now back here in the apartment and enjoying my lazy Saturday!

Most of you know, I live in a hotel apartment...and breakfast is included in my boarding rate...so I have a 'buffet" every day for breakfast...when I first came here, I totally pigged out...and of course the scale showed it...I cut back some gradually (started staying away from the fresh baked breads etc), and since starting on this journey, and not eating after 6:00pm, I eat what I want (within reason...still don't do the pancakes, breads or other sweet pastries) for breakfast and yes, many times that means having vegetables that are typically lunch or dinner food are consumed for breakfast (if you would have told me a year ago that I would be eating sauteed egg plant for breakfast, I would have been sure you were crazy!)... All of that to say that right now, buffet's don't bother me...that could change tomorrow...but for today (and that's all I have today), I can take it or leave it...I've come a long way to have that attitude towards food...and just for today, I'm keeping it!

Thanks again everyone and Thanks to the organizers of this forum...it's really helping me stay focused out here in Northeastern China (where everyone is skinny!)

Sarah

So after all that exercise this morning, and breakfast, continued to have some salted peanuts today at noon, then my dear husband fixed me 2 home-made cheese burgers and a fried potatoe...not on my diet, but of course, "had" to eat it anyway! this put me right to sleep! Then tonight, I had some grilled chicken and a 1/2 baked potatoe...can't keep that up!

I guess mentally, I was celebrating..today (before all that food), I did my measurements (in cm) and was very pleased with the results! Below is the progress since I started tracking these in September (the blue line on the top is the total of waist, hips and bust)

According to this and the Lands'End size chart online, I'm around and 18 size right now...needed to know that before I go shorts and mumu shopping in Hawaii!

So, tomorrow, I'll hit the eliptical for the "full blown banana" and keep going! Can't really decide if I want to weigh before I go on vacation (to keep momentum?) or to wait until I get back (to be on the 1st of the month as usual) and keep momentum during vacation to stay on plan...hummm...got 1 week to make that decision...

Sarah

AHeya.

I really wish i had measured myself. I didn't do any 'before' photo's or measured myself cos i really never thought i would last. I assuned that this would be like all the other diets i have done. I'm really gutted about that now. Well done on yours, it is so cool :)

I would weigh before i went on holiday but you do what you feel you need to do. I would always use holiday as an excuse as a holiday form eating healthy other than this time. I was so proud of how i have managed when i have been away, i reckon with your super motivation you will be fine. I am so jealous, i would love to go there. Have a wonderful time :)

Hey Katehunibun, (just love typing that name!)

Thanks for your encouragement...it's always good to hear from you all! Help keeps me going!

I will probably do an "unofficial" weigh in before the vacation...then do an official one when I come back...that way I can have 2 data points to keep me on schedule...thanks again for the input!

For today, I did my 60 minutes on the elliptical for 787 cal. I was really struggling this morning and stopped short of the "full blown banana"..I just didn't have it in me to do more...my husband has a meeting this afternoon with some of his friends, so if I feel like it, I'll go back to the fitness center while he's gone...but right now I've got the "that time of the month" lower back pain and the recliner with a hot heating pad and 2 Aleve is feeling like I'd like to stay right here! Good news is that it will all be over with by they time Hawaii gets here!

Breakfast was 2 fried eggs, 3 slices bacon and some sauteed pork then the normal dried cranberries, walnuts and cheese mix.

Not sure what the rest of the day will hold...right now, it's looking alot like staying in this chair!

Sarah

So, after doing nothing all day except relax in the recliner, I did eat some salted peanuts, then few minature mandarin oranges (my guess about 6). then some lunch of chinese veggies, egg fu yong (without the gravy) and sweet n sour pork.

After that digested, went back to the fitness center and did another hour on the elliptical (felt much better 2nd time around), then 20 crunches on the incline board and 3 minutes on the rowing machine to get my back good and stretched out...then back up to the apartment and right back in the chair...it's a good life on the non work days!

I happened across a website of a company that has a plan that is very similar to what I'm doing...didn't know about it at all and was wondering if anyone else has ever heard of this or tried this?

www.beyonddiet.com (not sure it will let me post a website here)

I'm not signed up (cost 47 USD) and not sure I will...but the foods they mention in the "foods not to eat" are the ones I've been avoiding...and it seems to be working (that and a big load of exercise!)

Have a great week every one!

AHey Sarah :)

Well done you on going back to the gym and having another go on the cross trainer!!!! :hurray: :hurray: :hurray: That is awesome, i sooooo wouldn't have done it! When i read the forst post i was going to say 'don't worry about struggling with exercise when you have that time of the month because that is normal. I really struggle sometimes and it use to really piss me off but now i understand that my body just isn't up to doing as much for a few days so i do what it tells me to' .......But , you being the awesome super woman that you are just went back and did shit loads more....And totally put me to shame :smilielol5:

Thanks for your post about my run, I was so so pleased with myself :) man do i ache now!!! Even after a lovely hot bath.

Hi Sarah

Just wanted to say thanks for the lovely post you left in my diary and also say WOW to that second session on the eliptical. You're one very determined lady. I'm sure i'll be reading in a couple of months how you managed to stay on track and lose all that weight. And you even recorded you measurements in Excel

Thanks Katehuneybun & Mady,

I'd like to say I'm feeling much better now...but truthfully, not so much! Monday, "that time of the month" and lots of stress at work...this too shall pass!

This morning, got up at my normal "00-dark-thirty" and did the 1 hr on the elliptical..different machine this time and only 707 cal...same time, same resistance..100 cal difference...oh well, it's not about the numbers...it's about the energy consumed! Then went to breakfast and had my 2 fried eggs, 3 slices bacon, sauteed eggplant and stir-fried baby cabbage and my normal walnuts, cheese and dried cranberries mix.

Lunch was stir-fried rice, chinese veggies and some sweet s sour pork and 2 miniature mandarin oranges.

Dinner: hot green tea...and a heating pad on my back!

Today I wore one of the blouses I bought in France...this is a size 16 equivalent in the US (size 48 in France)...it's made to go outside of the pants, but my butt is still a little big to wear it like that, so I tucked it in...my next mini-goal..get my butt down to make a size 16 blouse loose over my hips...now that will be a big day...and I don't think it's too long in the future if I can keep at it!

Tomorrow will be a new day and hopefully it will start with more energy than today did!
