Today, did my 1 hr for 876 (I guess I was really pumping it out today...not sure why...I think because I know I'm taking the day off tomorrow and won't have to get up at 0-dark-30 and hit it! 4 day weekends great!! I'm not a drinker or partier, so I'm just going to relax and this New Year's eve and day!

This morning for breakfast, my normal 2 fried eggs, then sauteed pork, stirfried baby chinese cabbage and the walnut, dried cranberries and cheese mix. Lunch was stir-fried rice, sweet & sour pork and chinese vegetables.

Dinner: none...strange...even though I got home early today, I could have eaten since it was before 6:00pm, but just wasn't hungry, so didn't want to force myself and just eat because I could...am I gaining some control or what?!

Tomorrow, I go to pick up some new silk blouses that I had made at the fabric market...I love trips like this (I hope they fit...sometimes they can make them fit almost skin tight...which is fine when I stand up...but not so much when I sit down!

I'll weigh-in on Monday, 1 January...I feel cautiously optimistic about this one...I think I've gotten back on track since the big trips to France & Brazil to be back in a groove again..hope so anyway!

Yesterday did the normal 1 hr on eliptical then another 20 minutes on the treadmill (I was off work, and went in later...I would have done more but this guy beside me on the treadmill was a hackin' ...just grossed me totally out, so I had leave or lose it...gross!

Ate my 2 eggs, and chicken with hot peppers and brocolli and my normal walnut, dried cranberry and cheese mix. Then I came back up to the apartment and my husband peeled me a bowl of those little mandarin oranges and a banana...normally I don't eat this...but he just gave it to me...I ate it all...then I asked him how many of oranges it was...and he said oh about 6...6?? Of course he said, you didn't have to eat them all...like hell...they are too good...and I just couldn't stop...so yesterday started not so good in the food department! Then a lentils and smoked pork lunch and some salted peanuts (I was drinking water all afternoon...so much sodium in those lentils and peanuts!) Then dinner was red cabbage and apple salad. Ate too much yesterday!

But, I went to shopping to the fabric/tailor shop and picked up 3 new blouses...tailor made for me (this is an advantage of living in China!)...they look great! I also got 2 pair of wool herringbone knickers (short pants..not panties!) They look great with my boots...so my husband says! I don't know what size they are...just made for me is going to have to be enough for me right now...I'm thinking they are somewhere around an 18W, but not sure at all! I felt really good about myself last night when I put on the new knickers, boots and a shirt to go to the lounge!

Today, I did my normal 1 hr on the eliptical for 860, then 30 min on the treadmill for 279 (hacker was not there!), then another 20 min on rowing machine for 180..that's 1319 cal if i've done the math right...not too bad for a 51 year old fat woman! Then to breakfast for 2 eggs, brocolli & carrot mix, sauteed egg plant and beef brisket stirfry. Then the cranberry, walnut and cheese mix topped off by 1 small tangelo (I ate it for breakfast so that my dear husband wouldn't feel compelled to peel me 6 of those little sweet ones!). Now here in the apartment, have a small serving of salted peanuts and drinking soda water and hot green tea.

Tomorrow is my weigh-in day...will be interesting to see my results in the past 3 weeks..I think I've finally gotten back on track from my trips to France & Brazil...I'll be here in China for about 3 months...then on the road again...gotta make sure I've got a plan to keep on track better than I did last time! But that's the past...now, all I have is today...and I'm making a good day of it...on this last day of 2011!

Happy New year everyone!

Sarah

So, I typed this once already...guess I didn't hit submit :-/... Anyway, today, cleaned out my closet and got rid of the "big clothes"...and will get them to the minister to get them to a family here in China that can use them...it will be a very nice new year for someone! That was a big step for me mentally..I had to fight the thought that "well, what if I gain it back..I will need that"..had to quash that! So, I got my clothes changed and put on some exercise clothes and went to the fitness center for the 2nd time today and did 460 cal on the treadmill...feeling much better now!

Had a late dinner/lunch today of sweet n sour pork, stirfried veggies and fried rice.

Feeling good today...just before the weight-in tomorrow morning!

So, weigh in results...203. That makes my weigth loss total 66 pounds to date. I had hoped to be < 200 by 1 Jan 2012...but I think that trip to Brazil/France kind of derailed that...so, I'm determined to keep on tracking to get this remaining 53 pounds off this year and get to my goal weight of 150! I don't do resolutions...I set objectives and this one is as close as it has ever gotten!

So, on my way to exercise and set a good pace for the year!

Happy New Year to everyone! Let's make it a great successful year for our health, happiness, prosperity and self-esteem!

So, after punching in 92kg on the eliptical, and cranking it up to 14 resistance, I set off for the 1st month of the new year right. Cranked out 1 hr for 860 cal on New Years day! May go again later, depending on how I feel.

Breakfast, 2 fried eggs, sauteed eggplant and sauteed pork. Dried cranberry, cheese and walnut mix. Put up a new photo today...in my new knickes and one of the silk blouses and my kick-ass custom boots (another advantage of living in Asia!) Forgot to put on my belt...but, that's OK...I remind myself that this time next year, these knickers will be loose and I'll remember how good I felt to put these on 1 Jan 2012...and think how awesome it will be to put on something smaller on 1 Jan 2013.

Here's my chart updated...

That curve is sure starting to slow down...but I'm encouraged that it's still sloping downwards! I'm shooting for by 1 march, I will just be "over weight" and not obese in the BMI!

Today, I had a combo lunch/dinner. 2 bowls of home-made chilli..really good...now, that it's digested, I'm going back down to the fitness center to crankout some more calories!

The last day of a 4 day weekend :-( and "relaxing, no rush workouts)...Today, did my normal 1 hr on the eliptical for 860 cal (that resistance 14 is a burner at the beginning!), then had breakfast 2 eggs, sauteed cabbage, pork, 3 slices bacon, green beans and my normal walnuts, cheese and dried cranberry mix. Lunch was with some Chinese friends of ours at a vegetarian restaurant...not sure what all I had...sure it was lots of soy bean curd..mushrooms,a special type of egg drop soup, some redbean curd flat spring roll, black fungus and peanuts and a special "Peking duck"..but duck made out of tofu...and topped off by some gooey, really sweet tasting purple sweet potatoe and some cabbage and celery dumplings...what a way to start the new year! Dinner: a small serving of salted, roasted peanuts. Then this evening, went down to exercise again for 1 hr on the elipitcal for 849 cal. Now comfortably sitting in my recliner!

Sounds like you've had a great Holiday! I started off the New Year with a great workout too! I'm only hoping I can keep that up! You're doing so well on your weight loss journey, I'm proud of you. You'll hit the 200 mark in no time!

Hello

I applaud your determination...your exercise totals are impressive. So have you busted that big 200 yet?

Hey Brawny77..

Thanks for your words of encouragement! I only weigh 1 /month, so I don't know...but I'm pretty sure not yet! I weighed in on 1 Jan and that's when it was 203...so I keep on!

Today started as normal...1 hr on eliptical for 840, then onto breakfast for 2 fried eggs, 3 slices bacon, sauteed cabbage, pork and the normal walnuts, dried cranberries and cheese mix. Lunch, sweet n sour pork, rice and stirfried veggies. Dinner (another one of the shift appreciation dinners..not sure what all I ate again...and part of this culture is to "drink a toast" to all kinds of things...and I don't drink, so they have peach nectare for me to drink...that stuff has got to be a bazillion calories per glass!..I try to nurse it along...but everytime, they just keep filling the glass...2 dinners down, about 6 more to go...going to be a long 2 weeks for dinners! Cutting back on the lunch portions and exercise to try to compensate for those increased calories!

I am weighing in weekly, not sure I could go a month with no feedback but I bet you are well below 200 by Feb 1. Have you tried to water down the peach drink. I remember the first time I drank beer. I was at a bonfire in high school and some older kid gave me some. I couldnt stand the taste so I would act like I drank it and quietly pour it out a little at a time. Ha Anyway...stay after it

Sarah! Thought i'd stop by and show some love. So impressed with you cardio bunny self!!!!! 800+cal/hour of elliptical? GIRL! You GO!

Sarah,

your diary inspires me! I weigh 248 and am looking to lose weight. I started eating stir fry chow mein/veggies myself, and I love it :) I was reading through the earlier part of your diary and noticed you didn't eat dinner often. I would constantly feel hungry if I skipped out on dinner! Congrats on all your weight loss :) and it seems like you work out hard too! I was on the elliptical today but only burned 300 calories.

I'm looking to lose over 100 pounds, and it's inspiring to see how much you have lost already! Keep it up.

Thanks for stopping by my diary Munch, Lauralee, Brawny77 and success and for your words of encouragement! Trust me I need it! It's really cold (-20C) here in Shenyang...grateful I have a fitness center here in my building!)

If it wasn't for workouts, I'm sure I would have slowed down to a crawl on weightloss..and it's not as fast as it used to be as it is!

I've got a tough couple of weeks ahead of me, with several evening appreciation meals for my team here in China...its the right thing to do for my job, but it's a challenge from a weight loss standpoint! Thanks Brawny77 for your idea to water down the peach nectare...now why didn't I think of that?! I will also try to pre-order some sparkling water. Success, I've been right where you are (and not that long ago!)...my sad story started one day when my dear husband told me that I needed to lose some weight (the red chinese outfit in the photo gallery was the cause of this...lots of money, but not looking so good!) Anyway, that's when I started back in June. My sister, who has lost over 120 pounds in about 18 months has been my inspiration! She's the one that got me started on the eliptical back in August 2011 and I've been there ever since. I've worked my way up to 1 hour and on some days I could do more. For the hunger feelings...yes, I've had them, but I just imagined that my body was shedding pounds as I lay hungry in bed...by morning, I was over it. Actually now, I've gotten used to not eating much, if any in the evenings and if I do eat alot, I don't sleep well. So, it does take some getting used to, but I've crossed that point now and not sure if I'll ever go back..even after I get to the "maintaining" point. B the way, even though I love the noodles here, I don't eat them much...too many carbs!

Enough ramblings...onto today!

This morning, started out as normal, hit the eliptical for 839 cal burned. Then, I did 10 crunches on the inclined board (God, now, my gut is sore..paying the price for that one already!). Then breakfast of 2 fried eggs, 3 slices bacon, leafy green veggies, and my normal walnuts, dried cranberries and cheese. Lunch was sweet & sour pork pieces, fried rice and veggies, then 3 tiny mandarin oranges (the sweetest little things in the world!).

Dinner: 1 hot green tea.

Gotta go to the airport tonight at 10:30pm to pickup a new guy to the team...not sure I'll make the full workout time tomorrow..depends on how I feel!

Thanks again for all your encouragement!

Sarah

Good job....-20 degrees wow! That makes me cold just typing it! Stay focused on your plan but take a moment to mentally pat yourself on the back for what you have accomplished so far.

Sounds like you're doing great! I love your Excel chart, I'm a finance guy so I'm tracking my weightloss in Excel!

I'll b making regular trips to ur diary for my spurt of motivation :)

Hi Sarah,

I’ve enjoyed reading your diary. Congrats on the 66 lbs you've lost so far.

Living in China sounds really exciting; I'd love to live abroad at some stage in my life!

I admire your determination to exercise every morning at 5. Wow!

Good luck on getting to your goal, I'm sure you'll have no trouble getting there considering how far you've already come and how motivated you are.

Wow, scbibhouse, -20??? I never new it got that cold in China. It's been cold here in Indiana, but I'm pretty sure it was no where near -20. I'll have to agree with Brawny, it makes me cold just thinking about it. BRRRR!

Yep...still -20C (equivalent of -4F)...you are right...cold! Good excuse to wear a big warm fur coat!

Today I forced myself out of bed and did the 1 hr on the eliptical for 879 cal. (short night last night after going to the airport to get a new member on my team), Then breakfast was sauteed eggplant , 2 fried eggs, 3 slices bacon and dried cranberries, walnuts and cheese. For lunch, sweet n sour pork, eggfu yong (no gravy), veggies and a little fried rice. Dinner: another crew appreciation dinner..so not exactly sure what I ate...but what I know was sauteed eggplant, baked chicken (gotta love it was brought to the table complete with the head lookin' at you..eye balls and beek still entact!), green beans, salted peanuts. This time I did get some bottled water and watered down the peach nectare for the toasts (Thanks brawny77!).

Thanks everyone for you kind words!! Together we can get this weight off!

Sarah
