198!!!!

Way to go!!!

Dont worry if you go back over a bit due to your vacation. Chalk it up to the fun you had and get back on plan. Hope you are on a surfboard right now holding a drink with an umbrella in it!

That's awesome Sarah! So proud of you, keep it up! I just know you can make that number become even lower for your next weigh in.

Thanks everyone for your comments and well wishes! We've just arrived back from our vacation..and what a wonderful vacation it was! Hawaii is beautiful (pictures later!). I did splurge a couple of nights, but overall, I stayed on plan with no sweets, low carb and exercise every day. I'll weigh-in on the 1st of Feb to see what the damage is (if any!). Just relaxing today and stretching out the last of my vacation!

Sarah

Great job on staying motivated to exercise while on vacation! Hawaii is so amazing and it is great to hear you had a great time. What was your favorite Hawaiian food that you had?

Hey Alice,

I loved Hawaii..I got up early as usual and did my exercise in the morning in the fitness center when I typically had it all to myself, then went to breakfast as usual time so that we could do a "normal" day sight seeing and having fun. On the food front...I know this is going to sound weird...but I really didn't have any hawaiian food...the favorite thing I had all week was some delish Prime rib...absolutely not on my diet, but boy was it good!

Welcome back and great job staying motivated and getting in daily exercise. Major accomplishment to take a trip and stick to the overall plan and you should be very proud of yourself for doing so.

I hear you on the fitness center being empty. Had a similar experience this weekend spending a night in a hotel whose "fitness center" consisted of a treadmill, a confounding skiing contraption and a couple of steppers.... Room faced the pool and the hot tub area which were well used.

Today...Tuesday...back to work! Vacation was sure nice while it lasted, but today, it was back to reality! Up and at 'em at 5:00am and worked out on my old buddy the elliptical for 887 cal...not sure why I pumped it out to much today...just feeling pumped up I guess. Then a big chinese breakfast of steamed baby cabbages, 3 slices bacon, satueed chicken nuggets (complete with bone shards), 2 fried eggs and some new leafy-stem type veggie topped off by the walnuts, cheese and dried cranberry mix.

Lunch was fried rice, 3 bacon wrapped shrimp in some kind of sauce, chinese veggies and the egg fu yong thing without the sauce.

Dinner, hot green tea (which I really missed in Hawaii!)

Tonight, I'm just relaxing and trying to shake off the rest of the jet lag!

Here are a few photos my husband took of me in Hawaii..first time ever I didn't feel embarrassed to be in a flowing dress (muu muu!)

Somehow that post went up before it was done...

Feelinggooder..Thanks for your words of encouragement! I do feel good that I stayed overall on track...we'll see what the scale says tomorrow morning!

Here is another picture of Hawaii...the classic sunset and if it works right, one of the North Shore beaches, and a view from the top of Diamond head!

Sunset on O'ahu view from Dukes restaurant at Waikiki beach.

The North Shore of O'ahu...this is where the big professional surf competitions are held...when conditions are right there are 20 foot waves here! What you see here is probably 5 foot ones...

The view from Diamond head crater..

So that's about it for the travel log! I'll ut a link to my blog here when I make the Hawaii entry for anyone who wants to see more!

I highly recommend it...we only went to O'ahu...there are 7 other islands and they are now on my "bucket list"!

AHeya :)

OMG you look lovely in your dress, really pretty!! And you don't look uncomfortable either, i haven't mastered that bit yet lol. So glad you had a lovely time, i'm soooooo jealous, it really does look awesome in your photo's.

And, well done you for being concious of healthy eating and working out while you were away. I find it really hard but i'm better than i was. I always use to use being on holiday as being on holiday from dieting too and would never manage to get back on track either...Again, well done you.

Welcome back sarah

That sunset pic is absolutely great!

Hard to come back to cold China?

I bet you dont see too much of a scale jump.

And that prime rib talk was tough on a guy who had beef jerky for lunch...ha

ASarah, all your pictures are lovely but the first one tops them all. You look really relaxed and happy.
Wow, you even stayed on plan with your food and exercise :hurray::hurray::hurray:. Good luck tomorrow morning with the scales!

Sarah, What a lovely photo of you, in your muu muu, looking very slim, relaxed & happy. I have been looking at similar dresses lately & think it's time I stopped hiding behind so many clothes & bought a sleeveless dress. You look gorgeous! You are obviously very committed now, as sticking to your plan, including exercise every morning, has become your new routine, even on holiday. Well done! Hope it's not too hard getting back to the cold & to work. I'm sure you're used to that too & holidays are so worth it! Cheers, Cate

Wow, thanks everyone! Well, it's 1 Feb and that means weigh-in...drum roll please!! 196 this morning! I think i can now say good bye 200's! It's been so long! Here's my updated chart

I think if I continue on the path, next month, I should break the 30 mark on the BMI...that means I will go from being "obese" to "overweight"...that just sounds so much healthier!

So, enough celebration and speculation...back to today!

Today, I got up and weighed in..and after that trudged down to the fitness center and punched in 89kg on the elliptical and cranked up the resistance to 15 for 60 minutes and cranked out 900 cal...burn baby burn!

Breakfast was sauteed cabbage, the leafy green stem stuff with black fungus (a type of toadstool I think), 2 fried eggs, 3 slices bacon and the walnut, dried cranberry and cheese mix.

Off to work now...computer says it's -20C out right now...a stark difference from the balmy ocean breezes of last week!

Thanks again everyone!! I really feel great today and you all are a big part of my successes and motivation!

Sarah

Looks like the hula dancing, luaus and sunshine did you wonders!

Better look out for March 1st, from your graph it looks like gravity is going to disappear and we'll all get to be weightless for the day *wink*

Hey Feelingooder..thanks for your kind words...and yes, my graph does show falling off the scale to weighlessness for March...somehow I don't think that's going to happen! Darn excel! And yes, the Hawaiian weather, dancing, eating etc...all seemed to work well for me..I'd go back tomorrow if I could!

From where I left off in my earlier post... for lunch, had fried rice, chinese veggies, and bacon-wrapped shrimp again today..same as yesterday + 3 miniature mandarin oranges.

Dinner: Hot green tea

What?? Vacation and weight loss?

Very good work my friend!

It was hitting that fitness room!

6lbs to the 180s!

AHi Sarah, I was just admiring your new avatar. You look totally changed from the photos of when you started. Super great achievement with the scales!!!!!:hurray: Way to go…

Wow! Such a great accomplishment, way to go! :)

You looked absolutely amazing in that dress by the way. I would love to wear one of those. I'm glad you enjoyed your vacation and still lost weight. I'm so so happy for you.:hurray:

OK thanks everyone! Don't...stop...no, don't... stop...you're making my blush...but gotta admit, it feels good!

Munch: The mumu's are very comfortable (elastic in the back, halter top type draw string in the front and loose and flowing in the middle...very comfy!)

Brawny77: Yes, it is amazing to me too..vacation and weightloss at the same time...pays to stick to the plan I guess...at least in the exercise department!

Mady: Thanks for your kind words on my avatar... I am the same person...but physically I'm different...getting back to the person I was back in the 1999 when I actually did run the Paris Marathon (4h31 min!)...

Today got up at normal 5:00am and went to do the elliptical for 1 hr and cranked out 909 cal...15 resistance is really making the arms work to help my legs!

Then had breakfast of sauteed pork, 2 fried eggs, leafy green veggie, sauteed eggplant and my normal walnuts, dried cranberries and cheese mix.

Lunch was sweet n sour pork, fried rice and chinese veggies and then 3 miniature mandarin oranges.

Dinner: hot green tea (I'm addicted to that stuff...and the good news is, it's easy to take back to the US and fix there!)

I had a weird feeling yesterday as I was walking between buildings at work...this is going to sound so wierd to you all so bare with me. I caught a reflection of myself in a glass window and saw my baggy pants and thinner me and instead of feeling good, I had a flashback to my mother who died of pancreatic cancer and lost a bunch of weight due to the cancer...and I had the thought that this was going to be what it's like when I die...losing weight...felt really strange. The thought was there, then gone and I didn't dwell on it, but it sure did leave an impression. I've never lost 70+ pounds before..(I've lost 10 pounds a million times!)..so I'm kind of in new territory here mentally...anyone ever experienced feelings like that?

Sarah

You look beautiful Scribhouse and you have done amazing with your goals! You're very inspiring!

Is it the custom in China to have vegetables with breakfast? That's very interesting. It seems the opposite from the U.S. I have read that some of the fungus type foods that oriental people eat boost the immune system and give you energy. A more well known one is called cordyceps and is in a lot of supplements. I think it would be neat to be able to try some new foods, especially if they are energizing and have extra health benefits.

Congratulations with your success!
