Risty's Diary (Christina)

Food for today (eaten and planned so far)

Breakfast - Whole grain & flax pancake (1 large) with real fruit syrup and half a cup of leftover smoothie - 592 cals
(Now that's just a guess because the syrup didn't have the nutritional facts so I just used the fitday one but that had double the amount of sugar that mine did (mine did say how many g of sugar))
Lunch - 1 bowl mushroom soup (made with skim milk), 1 whole grain toast with 0.5 can of tuna and 0.5 tbsp miracle whip calorie-wise - 380 cals
Snack - 0.5 cup fat free yogurt with 0.25 cup mixed unsalted nuts - 271 cals
Supper - whole grain spaghetti with tomato sauce - 470 cals
Total cals - 1712

I'm now gonna try eating aroung 1600-1700 cals. I think I need more with my exercise I'm doing.

Thats the way to do it girl:D:D:D!!!

Hey Sophie, I basically have it just for the protein. You're supposed to have protein in every meal and I have a hard time with doing that, especially for snacks. So that's why I use a shake, plus they're quick and easy. If you just have the protein itselt there's nothing to prepare at all, it takes 15 secs to shake it up. So that works well for my schedule too, I don't have a lot of time to prepare things, so yeah!

Thanks Cerella and Tammy! I hope you guys have a great weekend!

Right now I have 10 mins to decide whether I'm going to CK tonight or not. I'm completely exhausted and I did a work shift where I was on my feet and walking around all day (unlike the usual sitting at the desk all day), so that made me extra tired. I have my weigh in and measurements and tests and things tomorrow morning, so it would be good to go for that. I just don't know if I have enough energy to last the whole class.

Hi Risty

If you took the night off, you should take it off and relax a little. If you went, then you should feel really proud. Weigh-in day tomorrow? Well I'm excited for you! Measurements, I cannot wait to see how it went for you. I know that you are going to see amazing results. Did you enjoy the change of scenery at work today? Or did you have time seeing as how you were running around....well I hope you have a great night, whatever you ended up doing.

your menus look delicious! I have never tried yogurt with peanuts.Mushroom soup MMMmm :) I have to look back and see your smoothie recipes everyone is talking about on here.

So, I did go to my class. It was VERY hard to get going. I was sitting here until the very last second thinking it over. My thoughts were that I had made a goal not to miss a class until this weigh in, and that since it was the weigh in I needed to make sure I got my exercise in to keep a deficit. I was asking my bf if he would go on walk with me and he said he would, so that was very tempting. But, in the end, I wanted the best workout possible and so I just went and I put everything I had into it. It was such a great class too!

Food today:

Breakfast: Oatmeal with berries and a glass of skim milk
Snack: 0.5c Fat free yogurt with 0.25c unsalted mixed nuts
Lunch: Whole grain toast with spinach, mustard and deli turkey
Snack: Vanilla protein shake and 0.5c fat free yogurt
Supper: Meatballs (made with lean ground beef and lowfat cheese), steamed veggies, mashed potatoes and gravy.

Total Cals: 1732

Jo - glad to see ya back! I don't use peanuts in my yogurt I used mixed nuts which has almonds, walnuts, cashews, pecans, and I think it has brazil nuts too (doesn't have many of those though). I used to crush them and put them in and it tasted so good with my vanilla yogurt, but then I got lazy and put them in whole. The walnuts I break up a bit though cause they're big.

Lukewarm - Yeah I'm excited and worried about the measurements because I got measured when I had already been partway through the course. Everyone got measured on the first day, but I joined late so I got measured being 2 weeks into it, and now it's 5 weeks, so I might have already had improvements by the end of those 2 weeks and so it might not look like a big change between then and now, as it would have from the beginning and now. So I'm worried I won't see so much results. However, if that does happen, I'll try extra hard in the coming 5 weeks so that my 10 week measurements will be awesome!

Well done on getting yourself to your class. That's awesome. And its so rewarding after the fact when you know you were telling yourself not to go.
And your menus do look good. My mouth was beginning to water when I read over what you ate the day before. :D
Let us know how your measurements come through. It's really awesome what you're doing.
I need to get more physical. >.<

Wow, Risty, way to on the BIDIA (But I Did It Anyways). You didn't feel like going to the workout class ... but you did it anyways. Whoo-hoo!

Right, I'm not sure how measurements actually change because I've never lost weight before. Either way, it's very cool that your progress is being recorded. That's so great that you went, you are honing excellent habits and exhibiting discipline, which is the most difficult part of this process. Your progress and experience is actually making me consider joining a gym (Now that I don't feel like an imposter in workout clothes). I still don't think I could participate in a class environment though, but that's what sounds so attractive about what you're doing. I always hear people that say they love this spinning class, or they love this dance course, or cardio class, and I just don't get how they don't feel intimidated. Even in high school I got anxious about having to perform in front of lots of people, and I was fit then. I hope you have a great day Risty.

Hey Risty, just wanted to see how you're doing. Sounds like you're staying on plan. Good for you! Can you tell us again what you put in your shakes? I just got some protein powder and plan on having 3 shakes a day to control my hunger and get some protein in. I really need to pop in for your meal ideas more often. What is the recipe for the meat balls?

Morning Risty!! And way to go on that discipline, your awesome!! You are so good to your body and I'm sure it's rewarding you for that. Keep it up girl!!

Woohoo on going to class girl - that was how I was feeling on Thursday I left it as long as I possibly could but I did end up going in the end an di am so glad I did -that is also the best tiem to exercise...when you dont really feel liek it...

Your cals are looking great - I decided to heed my own advice and I am trying to eat more calories as well!!! Maybe we can both get outta this plateau we are on - looking forward to chatting agian soon :):):)

Oh I started a new diary ... spur of the moment thing...out with the old kinda thing...Finding Cerella it is

OMG, I just wrote the longest thing every and because I took so long it made me sign in again and it screwed up and the post didn't post.... AHHHH! Here it goes again, I'll try to make it quicker :p

Ok so my measurements didn't go so well. I lost half an inch on my tummy and chest, the rest stayed the same expect my hips went up an inch and a half and my thighs went up half an inch. So I dunno what that's about, according to their scale I lost a couple pounds, so I'm confused.

My fitness portion went very well. I couldn't do any full push ups, just knee ones when I first started. My testing got done late so by that time I was able to do 1 full push up and 31 knee ones in one min. On my test yesterday I did 15 full push ups and 33 knee ones in one min! So MUCHLY improved! My sit ups went from 74 in a min to 96! And my flexibility went from 23.5 inches to 28 inches! So I know I'm fitter and stronger for sure, and I think that's just as important as losing the weight. So I'm partly pleased with the results of yesterday!

Oh and they had a draw to win a brunch for 2 at the Hotel Eldorado here (never had eaten there before cause it's expensive) and I won! So my bf and I went today to celebrate our anniverasy (we celebrate it every month :D) It was SOOOOO good. I totally blew my eating with it, but there was so much and I will list what I remember!

Breafast items: eggs benedict (on an english muffin with ham), bacon, sausage, pancakes, french toast, crepes (with either strawberry coolie or choclate gonash and whipped cream) etc.
Appies: different breads, meats and cheeses, pasta salad, caesar salad, other items I don't know what they are.
Main items: roast beef with different sauces, pork and mushroom risotto, sweet chili chicken stir fry.
Seafood: shrimp, prawns, salmon (raw and cooked), crab legs.
Dessert: chocolate cake, this other chocolate cake thing, cream puffs, pecan pie, nanaimo bar type things, cheese cake, chocolate mousse, different pastry things, and this fruit type salad with some sort of whipping cream or something.

Now that's what I can remember and I tried most of it, lol. I just couldn't help it, I mean I never get to eat things like that and we were definately putting that certificate to good use! It was the best anniversary outing ever! We normally just go to a reg restaurant, but this was soooo nice and the food was sooo good. Now we're ridiculously full! lol

But tomorrow I'm starting fresh, going to definately count every calorie and I'm adding cardio to my resistance training days to make my results come a bit quicker. I want my next test in 5 weeks to be even better than this one (especially the measurement part!)

im going to try and use the shakes like you do for protein risty - i find it very hard to get protein into my meals too what with nuts being so high calorie and me not having a strong liking for any meat apart from chicken.
as for the many foods you tried yesterdasy - think of it as a treat day - it will curb cravings for a long time now

Actually, we went to the brunch today! I'm sitting here posting, still completely full, it's ridiculous! Hehe, but it was a wonderful treat.

Yeah it is hard to get protein in for sure. I do have nuts, but because they're so high in cal's I don't eat very many and you don't need to. They have sooooo many health benefits that it's really worth it to eat nuts as long as you eat an appropriate amount. I'm not that much of a meat person either, so yeah, I understand about the whole protein thing.

ah right ok - i get confused because of the time difference and things.
do the shakes come in different flavours? and do you just mix them with water?

Yeah they do come in different flavours. I've bought chocolate and vanilla. But if you go to a store they have tons of flavors! I mix mine with water (no cals and plus I'm getting protein from the shake, don't need it from the skim milk) however when I make a smoothie I do use some skim milk. I use my chocolate whey by itself with water, and I use my vanilla whey by itself with water (though it tastes better with milk) and the vanilla one is what I use for my smoothies because it goes awesome with fruits! I tried the chocolate one in smoothies before but it was odd, so yeah! lol
