Risty's Diary (Christina)

I eat lots fo popcorn it is my treat food and comfort food - i have it with real butter when I really need a treat...

Your cals are low and your filled up and happy abd satisfied? I cant jsut do 1200 cals - I need to eat , eat, eat...

Update to my eating - added the strawberry/mango/protein powder/skim milk smoothie - 305 cals (I might have the cals slightly high)

Total cals 1440 - So, with the smoothie it brings it to about where I wanna be... which is around 1500 cals.

HappyHendrix yeah I know I need to have more than that, which is why I added the after dinner snack which brought it up good. I need to preplan my eating and put it in fitday a day early because then I know for sure if I'm under or whatnot. If I do like I did today and add it after it's like crap, I'm behind.

Jogger, yeah I know the scale is stupid. I'll teach it a lesson ;)

Cerella, yeah I know my cals were low, but it's cause I eat every 2-3 hours that I don't feel hungry. If my cals are low like they are today then I add my after supper snack (the 6th meal of the day) and it usually brings it up good. So yeah, I feel consistant through the day (not hungry, but not over full).

Ya I eat non stop all day long - like every 3 hrs or so...I usually stay full and my body knows when it is ready for another snack lol...

snacking is a mare for me.. espesh in mid afternoon when i get home from school..i do it and then never need an evening meal cos im that full.
you seem to have got your eating habits under control really well risty. well done huni :) i am impressed xx

Hi Risty

Freaking yum. Your food is so good that I'm hungry again after just eating breakfast. So do you steam the spinach or do you just lay fresh spinach leaves on the toast and then top with the egg whites and salsa? I'm going to try it too, I just have to pick up some WW bread and salsa. I've got tons of fresh spinach and I have been wondering if I'll be able to eat it all before it becomes wilted. Ohhh or I suppose you could chop it and then just sprinkle it in the egg whites....wow possibilities. hahaha

Well I hope you have a great day!

Hi Risty. Just popping in to see how you're progressing with that plateau. Turns out I'm on a bit of a plateau myself for the past 15 days.

Your protein shake is a lot like mine. I add the juice from half a lemon or lime to mine -- it's a nice touch.

Have a good one!

Morning Risty!! I love those protein shakes, YUMMY, I also like smoothies, mmmmm. I think your doing great! Keep it up!
Kim

Howdy Risty,
Your protien shakes look yummy I must try one,
but 1st I need a blender lol.I buy special K protien bars and they taste
pretty good but the shakes sound like a good breakfast plan for me,I am
starting to get burned out on the egg beaters. Thanks for stopping by and
have a gr8 day Tammy

Sophie - Yeah I always snack, on a reg work day I have breakfast at around 8, then snack at 10 then lunch at 12 then snack at 3 and then supper (depending on my class whether it's my CK or my resistance) at either 5 or 7. When I have a half day then I tend to sleep in and eat my breakfast at my usual snack time. Same thing happens on my days off. Ah well! lol

Tom - so when you make your shakes do you also make it with milk or with water? And do you always put lemon/lime... that does sound very good :)

Tammy - If you can afford one, I'd definately get a blender. I loves having a blender. Smoothies are so good :D

Lukewarm - Yeah I just used fresh spinach (I don't care for cooked spinach much, but I think I would still like it if it was chopped up all nice ... I just hate the big clumps of cooked spinach by itself, yuck!) When I cooked my egg whites once they were basically done I added the salsa to it to finish it off. I like having it cooked with it as opposed to using it as a topping. Just because the eggs would be warm and then the salsa would be cold... I dunno, lol. So yeah that's what I do, and I put it on a whole grain toast but lemme tell you with spinach on there making it an uneven surface my eggs were falling off! So I think I'd make it into a whole sandwich (I need more cals anyways) and that way the eggs will stay where they're supposed to. Oh and I just put the eggs on top just before I eat it and the spinach didn't wilt, it was actually a very yummy lunch.

MissLadyBug - thanks :) I'm trying! Hehe

Food for May 3, 2007

Food for today (eaten and planned so far)

Breakfast - Whole grain & flax pancake (1 large) with real fruit syrup and half a cup of leftover smoothie - 592 cals
(Now that's just a guess because the syrup didn't have the nutritional facts so I just used the fitday one but that had double the amount of sugar that mine did (mine did say how many g of sugar))
Lunch - 1 bowl mushroom soup (made with skim milk), 1 whole grain toast with 0.5 can of tuna and 0.5 tbsp miracle whip calorie-wise - 380 cals
Snack - 0.5 cup fat free yogurt with 0.25 cup mixed unsalted nuts - 271 cals
Supper - whole grain spaghetti with tomato sauce - 470 cals
Total cals - 1712

I'm now gonna try eating aroung 1600-1700 cals. I think I need more with my exercise I'm doing.

I really envy anybody who has time to make a breakfast during the week. Pancakes Oh how I love them. Your quite lucky you know. I'm up and out Monday thru Friday, so it's usually cereal for me. But on the weekends, that's another story. I can't believe you like mushroom soup, I do also but my hubby about gags when he see's me eating it. I pretty much eat anything, with the exception of red meat, don't like that very much. Keep up the healthy eating, and please keep sharing your menu, I love those ideas.
Kim

Thanks Sophie!

MissLadyBug - I so love mushroom soup! This might sound gross, but when I used to make it I would take a soup full of the condensed stuff before milk was added or anything, put it on a cracker and eat it... everytime! lol. About the whole breakfast thing, most mornings I don't have time to make it, but if I have a hald day on a tues or thurs I can, and also on weekends I can.

I re-evaluated my cals, and for my current exercise I think I need around 1600-1700 cals. So I'll try to up it to that and see how it goes.

Which I made the max by the way, just a few cals over.

Whole grain and flax pancake? With real fruit syrup? I'm going to cry. I never eat that good in the morning. Oh...my... GOD, does that ever sound yummy. lol

I am drooling over here for Risty's meals!!! That is the PERFECT healthy plan IMO. No wonder Oprah can keep her weight down as she can have someone serve her all these yummy but so healthy and low-cal things. Risty is a trooper for putting all that together. I never seem to stick to a plan for long, generally eating haphazardly through my day. I was a lot better a few months ago now that I think of it, not in terms of calories but in terms of food quality, and maybe that has something to do with my plateau? But then again Risty's on one - and now Tom apparently..eek - and they're doing great and totally OP. So who knows!

Risty, I use non-fat milk for my shakes. And lately, I've always been adding the juice of a whole lemon or a lime to the mix.

I'm surprised the lemon or lime doesn't curdle the milk. What else do you throw into the shake Tom?

Risty, what's your shake recipe and what kind of protein? Someone recommended having 3 protein shakes a day to control appetite so I'm planning on trying it.

I don't actually have a recipe I mean I put frozen strawberries and frozen mango (more strawberries than mango) and then I add my Isoflex whey protein isolate (vanilla). Then I put about half a cup of skim milk, but if that's not enough liquid then I add water until it's enough. It's so bloody good! I make it really thick, which is why I don't put much liquid, it reminds me of a milkshape type thickness, I feel like I'm having dessert!

Tom, yeah I was wondering about the curdling thing too, which is why I asked if you added milk to it. But obviouly you're doing fine drinking it, so it's gotta be safe, lol. I should try and add some one of these days, I have half a lemon in my fridge right now too, hehe. If I like it, then I'll get more lemons and try a full lemon's juice in there.

what are benefits of taking protein supplement in the form of a shake? (apart from extra protein that is haha) :)

Howdy Risty,
I wanted to drop by and wish ya a wonderful
weekend!Your shakes sound yummy and healthy,Tammy
