Today was pretty good. I worked out mid-day, for 55 min. I couldn't make an hour. I didn't eat close enough to my work out. Eat too much too close to the workout and I want to vomit. Don't eat close enough and I want to pass out.
Despite my timing being off I ate well: lotsa lean protein/fish/whey/fruits/milk. I haven't had any beer the last 2 days because I don't want to make it a habit/crutch. Just mixing it up a bit.

Uggh. I'm the same way with food and workouts! Ya just gotta get that right balance figured out... I'm still workin on it, lol. Keep up the terrific work!!

Still showing an exemplary effort on the food front. :hurray:

Regarding the food/workout thing: I'm not an expert, but I bet your body starts getting more and more used to it, and it starts affecting you less.

ALSO according to your journal, you made it 5 weeks so far.
That is AWESOME!

Hey! Thanks for stopping by my diary!

I just want to say that you are hilarious! I loved your intro! I've never had a pair of pants split myself, but that's because my thighs are usually the worst part of me and if my pants don't fit my thighs, it's not going high enough to worry about splitage. However, I have worn out the inner thighs of way too many damn jeans over the years!

I don't think you look pregnant at all by the way, I on the otherhand... not so good. I looked more pregnant than my pregnant sister for the longest time! It was so depressing..... I was hoping I actually would be pregnant and then be like.. well no wondering my belly is like this! Alas, that was not reality!

Good luck on reaching your weight loss goals!

Hey! ...
I joined the biggest loser challenge just for extra motivation. It starts next Tues so if you wanted to join there's still time :)

Hi Risty! I'm in the New Year's 12 week challenge. Even though I'd like to be in more than one challenge (more challenges = more motivation), I only want to weigh in once a week. Any more than that has the potential to be too discouraging, and misleading. I think it's great you guys are doing a challenge with teams though. Nothing like a teammate to hold you accountable. :)

@Andy Yeah!!! I'm into week 5! Thanks for noticing. I read your diary (uh,oh that sounds personal) where you commented that you're building on your motivation and setting yourself up for good habits. Me too! I feel like the more weeks I can get under my belt, the closer I am to establishing a new lifestyle. And I'm feeling so much better and healthier every week. It's addictive.

Today was a great 1 hr workout and solid nutrition. It was also my weekly weigh-in for the New Year's Challenge and I lost 3 lbs. Looking forward to keeping that 2-3lb pace each week.

Yeah I know what you mean about how it can be discouraging if you weight in more than once a week. So I totally understand! Good luck on the challenge that you're doing :)

Also, just wanted to congrats you on your awesome weight loss this week :D

Think I was around 1600 calories today and ate much later than usual. Had my last snack at 10pm. Took the day off for exercise and spent most of the day moving. I'm more than halfway done and hope to get a workout in tomorrow so that I can get 6 workouts in per week without doubling up.

I moved more stuff this morning and am halfway through unpacking. Hope to finish unpacking tomorrow and sweep up the place I moved from as well. I'm sore from climbing stairs and lifting things. Feels good though, like I put in honest work. ;) No gym today so I hafta double up at least one day this week to get 6 workouts. Also, I ate later than usual, around 9pm today. Nutrition was great though. Incidentally, I have to post my food log at the New Year's Weight Loss challenge this week.

Moving is a lot of work. I hate moving! Although once I get my own house... whenever that is... I'll be happy to move for once, lol.

Late last night I had a chocolate craving. Chalk it up to nearly 40 days without processed sugar, and a bit of moving stress. I was due. So, I had some chocolate, tasted great, tore my stomach up, and gave me gas. My sugar rush was crazy so I spent the next 2 hours rearranging furniture and putting things in storage.

Anyway, today I had a fantastic 1 hr workout after having the last two days off. I cleaned my old place and my new one. I didn't eat much, but I ate well.

@ Risty and Shinsplint Thanks so much on the well wishes for the move! It's not fun but I really like my new place so it's all worthwhile.

Are you allergic to chocolate or sugar at all? Or have a slight intolerance? Or do you think it's just because you're not used to eating it anymore that it affected you like that?

I'm just not used to eating it anymore. When you're off processed sugar & suddenly have some, I think your body recognizes it as the "poison" that it is. That's a good thing. :) The experience was so unpleasant that I won't want any for another month!

ohhh jeez.. I wish I had the willpower to TRY to go without chocolate  ! But I do know what ya mean when ya eat something just a little too sugared up... ouch!

It is true for anything in the food realm that you stay away from for a long time... carbonated drinks, fried foods, candy, alcohol, and even meat. Any time you deny your body a certain food for a long period, it forgets how to break down those foods and use them, therefore causing you to feel bad.

Hope you are feeling better!

@ Veronica I am feeling great, thanks! Was aces by morning. You're right about the body having to adjust to changes in diet. When I used to eat garbage (low nutrition/high sugar/ processed foods), then have a rare salad or high fiber veggies, I'd have some serious gas. Though, I wouldn't have the other negative side effects like the crazy high glycemic levels/increased blood pressure etc.

I'm almost completely settled in...gonna try to finish the last of the unpacking tonight. Ate well today, blackberries, raspberries, strawberries (4-6 servings of fruit), plain yogurt, soy milk & whey protein, fish, and my favorite mindless snack of popcorn. I have a serious sweet tooth which is why I easily eat plenty of fruit. I have to work on the veggies though. If anyone has suggestions for healthy eating/low ingredient/so simple a monkey could do it recipe websites, lemmie know! Got an hour workout in. Also strolled 2 miles. Joined the biggest loser challenge.

Good job on the workout and walk!

I don't really know any websites like that. I have a company's coming cookbook that's a 4 Ingredient cookbook! I also have one called Simple Supper. Those books aren't very expensive, so mayve take a peek at those. They also have healthy ones too, like whole grain, healthy in a hurry, healthy choices, etc etc.

I also bought one of the biggest loser cookbooks last year!

@Risty Thanks for the cookbook suggestions. I'll flip through 'em at Borders and see what works.

Today was good. I worked out an hour in the morning and again in the afternoon. Had to make up for missing a day while I was moving. Tryin' to stick to 6 workouts a week and continue to be consistent. Mostly the same menu as yesterday...lotsa fruit, yogurt, milk, will likely have some sweet potato fries later.

Mmmmm sweet potato fries! So good! Are you cooking them in a healthy way though.. that is the question! lol
