Renee's Rambling

Renee, my heart goes out to you girlfriend!! You will make it, I PROMISE you, look for support and help, even in places you wouldn't ordinarily ask for it, like family or church or go online and look for it. Where there is that will, there is a way. I know, I left a 10yr marriage, took to small children and raised them by myself without any support AT all and I paid off the ex's IRS debt of 10K, long story on that one. But, I don't have a college degree either, but I found a nitch and I moved up every year in the career I chose and now I'm making more than my sister in law who currently holds a masters degree. I'm just saying don't give up!! stay positive and keep searching for that support, there will be some group or someone that can help get you out of this debt hell, I wish I could do better! I'm sorry!:(

Okay, so I just submitted a resume for a job that pays a bit less than what I'm making now, but is still decent paying. The job is in a hospital, rather than in a call center. But I'm not even sure if they are still hiring... I've never submitted a resume online before, so that makes me a little nervous. There is a library assitant position open that I'm thinking of applying for. That would be awesome.

Anyway, I'm going on my walk now!

~~BIG HUGS~~ and ~~ BIG PAT~~ for my friend, I've never met, but care about!! I think a lot of people are going to that online resume thing now, so it should be fine. And I love the library idea, way cool on that one. YOUR WALKING and I'm happy! If you lived in OK, I would hook you up with some jobs, I have a lot of friends that owe me some favors. :) I never ask for any of course, but they are there if I need them. Hey, you can always move my way. LOL :) Enjoy your walk and keep me posted on your jobs.

a bit TMI

I went for my walk... shaved off those three minutes that I added yesterday and no raw feet today! YAY!!!

Here's where the TMI comes in...

So I went to the store to pick up some Propel and I saw this really nice looking chocolate desert thingy in the bakery section, so I thought, "I've been doing okay with staying in my calorie range, why don't I have a treat?" Yeah, big huge mistake. I have only been eating sugar free chocolate lately (and not even that much of it) and I don't know if my body has adjusted to not having that type of chocolate in my system, but that desert may have tasted good going in, but man was it violent coming out! Never again. I'll stick with the sugar free kind of chocolate. Eeeick...

Morning Renee!! Yeah, been there and done that. I have killer stomach pains when I eat certain food now, because my body has adjusted to so much non processed items, when I eat something like pizza, I get cramps. uggg, but I guess it's just our bodies telling us, to behave. HAHAHA It's hard to pass up good looking chocolate, it just screams at me when I go to Sam's club with my hubby, I have to force myself to walk away, and it's very, very hard trust me!! I hope your day goes well, did you go to work today??

Went to work today. It was okay. One of the very rare days where I was in meetings most of the day. And now its my weekend! woo hoo

I did okay with food today.

I still have to exercise.I have no motivation in the mornings and by the time I get home it's dark and I don't want to go out for a walk in the dark... the reason I go outside in the first place is for the sun, so I'll stay in. I'll probably do the exercise tape after Conan tonight. I think it's supposed to rain for the next three days so I might have to stay in for exercise. That sucks. I wish I had a treadmill or something so I could just walk and watch a movie or something instead of use the exercise tape. Blah! But hey, I might be forced to keep my fulltime schedule, so maybe I'll be able to afford a treadmill before long... who am I kidding, any extra money I have has to go toward saving for a new car or saving for my big move next year... but if I can prove to myself for a month that I'm truly dedicated to this working out thing, maybe a gym membership is in my future... hmmm... i guess I need to define what is proof that I'm dedicated... Okay... for me, proof that I am dedicated is when I've exercised five days each week for a total of four weeks... I'm already in my second week... so if I can do it for two more weeks, I can start gym-shopping! Woot!

Yeah, so I'm refusing to step on a scale until I'm sure I've lost weight. I just measured myself and my measurements are exactly the same, so I'm pretty sure I haven't lost anything. And I'm feeling like it doesn't matter that I've started exercising and it doesn't matter that I've started eating better because this weight will never come off. I mean most people see some sort of results in the first two weeks don't they? Do I have to exercise to the point that I can't even stand? Do I have to just drink water and eat saltines like those skinny girls in junior high did? I don't get it. I thought this whole counting calories and exercising thing was supposed to make a person lose weight. This is just frustrating that there is no change at all! Just hook me up to a vacume and suck the fat out! Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr...

keep on going !!!!!!!!!
youve done so well so far ... i bet you will have lost. sometimes weight doesnt change and measurements change and other times measurements dont change and weight does change. keep motivated sweetie -we all want this for you but i bet not half as much as you want this for yourself :) xx

Renee, If at all possible you can find a CHEAP gym membership, I would go for it girlfriend, it wasn't until I joined the gym did I really get motivated to excercise, I HATED doing it at home and i would always talk myself out of it. But, when your paying for something, you tend to use it, I never waste money trust me I'm very frugal. HAHAHA DON'T give up!!! I don't know if you stopped by my diary or not, but in there I wrote that for an ENTIRE YEAR I went to the gym faithfully at least 3 days a week and busted ass big time, and girlfriend not ONE pound did I lose, Not one stinking pound that whole year, can you even imagine that??? I was determined, I'm so head strong, I didnt' care what it took I wasn't going to let that take me down, I KNEW my cardio was hopping, as I can bike 10 miles in 40 minutes, that's not bad!! and still I'm not even a tinge out of breath. I can also go 4 miles on the elliptical in about 30 minutes, on a good incline. Just when I was thinking there was no hope for me, I joined this website, started eating better, more fresh veggies and fruit and protein, And WELLA, I've dropped 10 pounds since the last week in March, which right now I'm in my 6th week. I lost 2lbs this week. And I'm not giving up. Stay with the plan, stick to your guns and DON'T let the scale get to you. Give it a little more time, maybe you just need to change up one small thing. look into the gym, you might be able to find one for less than 18.00 amonth. Good luck, I'll be here if you need to vent!!

All I did tonight was my twenty minute work out tape, but I did it with the pace of the tape! Woo hoo! And I stoped the tape half way through to jog for a couple of minutes... I don't know why, but something told me to just try it and see how it went and to be honest, it made the rest of the work out seem a bit easier. And I'm sweating in places I didn't know could sweat! That's a good feeling. I just wish I didn't pant like a dog through the whole thing!

The gym issue... There is a new 24 hour gym opening up in my area soon, that would be good. I'll call about rates. There is a new Gold's Gym in my area and the yearly rate is $299... Does anyone know, do you normally have to pay the year membership upfront or is it monthly pay? How does that work?

I'm a member of Gold's Gym. You have different options when you decide to join. You can pay for the whole year up front (what I did), or you pay per month. Usually when you pay by the month they want to add an 'initiation fee' of some sorts, usually around $100 or so. Also, if you pay monthly they extend the length of the contract usually to two years, versus the one year if you were to pay upfront.

I might have lost a couple pounds... It seems like my pants are a little looser around the thighs. I told myself I wouldn't buy a scale, but I'm thinking I might go out and buy one.

So I bought the scale. It has my weight at 319. Now I'm wondering if my friend's scale that I orginally weighed on was not accurate. I measured myself today after steping on the scale and there are some minor changes in my measurements.

Waist: Starting: 51 in Current: 50.5 in
Hips: Starting: 58 in Current: 57 in
Upper Arm: Starting:15.5 in Current: 15.5 in
Upper Thigh: Starting: 31.5 in Current: 31 in
Bust: Starting: 52 in Current: 52

I know there is no way that I've gained 4 pounds. I'm not lifting weights (I've worked with 2-pound dumb bells maybe twice in the last week). It's not like I've gained four pounds of muscle. And I've been eating way less than I used to (when I started I was eating around 3000 cals a day, now I'm between 1600-1900) and I've been working out. It would seem physically impossible for me to have gained 4 pounds. So maybe I'll change my starting weight to 319 now that I have my own scale and go from there.

Good for you!! I think your doing great! Your losing inches and that's almost better than pounds trust me, it shows in what you wear and that's such a good feeling. Keep up the good work and don't give up. I hope work is getting a litte better for you!! Take Care

I've been having sort of a weird day. Thinking a lot about the future and how stuck I feel in every aspect of my life. Blah. There is major reorganization going on in the company I work for. I found out today that about fifteen people got demoted because the company decided to move their jobs to another location. And there are several signs that make me wonder if maybe there is going to be more of that type of thing going on in the future. They're already changing our job descriptions... which is okay, but the reasoning for it is the type of thing that makes you wonder when the lay-offs are coming. In a meeting recently a co-worker flat out asked if we were going to lose our jobs. Of course, the supervisor running the meaning said absolutely not. But the last company I worked for said they weren't laying people off then a week after I quit that job they announced they were closing. So I don't tend to believe management when they say nobody is losing their job. Personally, I'd love to get layed off.

I feel like I'm just wasting my life. I hate that feeling. I've got to find a way to get back to school.

I have to do my exercise tape tonight... maybe twice... I've been slacking without the sun and the outdoors. Stupid weather!

good on you for re organising your start weight - probably the other scale you used wasnt as accurate as the one you got now - weight can vary between scales as ive found out. so now youve got your own you can do your weekly weigh in and know that it is correct :)

Renee, Don't sweat the things we can not change. Go with the flow. IF they decide to cut jobs, that's your outlet to find something better. Think of it as a sign, so to speak. At least your keeping up with your exercises and that's excellent. Your going to be okay, don't stress out alright. You know the old saying "when one door closes, another door opens" maybe you will receive a phone call on one of those other jobs you've applied for recently. Just take it day by day. It will all work out in the end, I promise you. Take care and try to smile a bit today. Your a great girl and you deserve the best!
Kim:)

Hey Renee, things WILL look up. I'd wait it out at this point because if you get laid off you may get a severance payment or at least unemployment. In the meantime, keep applying to other jobs. Keep in mind that you are MOST marketable when you CURRENTLY have a job. You just appear more career-oriented rather than desperato-seeking-job-any-job. You have far more leverage. Just keep in mind the golden rule "do not slag off thy current or prior employer as we thinks you will do the same to us if we hire you".

Keeping up with your program, both healthy eating and exercise, will have you feeling better overall, including when at work.

So this woman who works where I work had gastric bypass about seven months ago and she's lost a ton of weight. I heard her talking about having a ton of excess skin.

Is there any way to prevent having just tons of skin hanging from your body when you lose weight. Like if a person loses 100 or 200 or more pounds are they just doomed to have the extra skin just hanging around or is that only if you lose weight super fast (like with gastric bypass)?
