So this is for weight loss.. but I don't want to give up pie and I love to hike and I want to balance my lifestyle to include things I love and be healthy and fit all at the same time.
I have lost weight giving up some foods for good, and there are some things I don't think I will ever quit for good. I want whatever changes I make to be forever changes. I will keep eating some things like pie, but I will quit for a time, and I have a big goal of using moderation.... always have to work on this. As for other things.... like fastfood, I am proud to say I have been clean off fastfood since May 2009. No Mcdonalds No Burger King or whatever, this is just what I needed. More planning and preparing what I eat. When I can't eat at home, I can always grab healthy choices that can be eaten on the run. I do not starve without drive throughs! I can wait till I actually walk into a store.
In the Store Examples I grab when on the run: (I actually carry things in my car....salt pepper, spoon, knife, measuring cup) avocado, lowfat yogurt, whole wheat bread with lowfat string cheese, nuts, fruit, carrots...... rice cakes, granola bars.......... these things have kept me from getting too hungry and making fast food mistakes
When I started in May 2009 I lost about 50lbs in about 5mo. I have since gained 20lbs back... not so proud when I think about that, but when I stop counting I slide... happily I have maintained the lifestyle change of no fastfood, and I'm gaining strenght with my exercise. I can jog... for more than a very short couple minutes, and I have been doing pushups getting up in numbers more than I have ever have. I'll always have to work, hopefully will not always on the weightloss part, but will always have to think about the food and exercise choices.
I will always bake pie, but will be careful about how often and how much I choose to consume. I also have tried new things like using oil rather than shortening in my crust... it works, its good, and I eliminate trans fat!
My goal is to lose 8 lbs this month....
I do best when I write down everything I eat. That is how I lost the 50lbs in the first place, counted everyday. After I stopped counting... and eventually getting more and more careless about the junkfood... I slowly started gaining... and have struggled to get back to losing..
This time I will journal online instead of just to my lonely self..... and instead of trying to quit junk the whole time I diet, just to struggle with it once I eat it again.... (for me quiting junk forever just doesn't seem realistic)... I'm going to try controlling myself with an occasional treat.
That's why I include Pie because I know I won't give it up for life and I need to learn how to manage my eating not when I am allowing choices becasue obviously I won't stay on a very strict diet forever...
Hiking is my other thing because besides floor exercises... walking/hiking/ short intervals of whatever jogging I can do are my exercise.. I don't use a gym.
So I will allow 1 day a week that I can eat something I enjoy but can't really call healthy.... but I will work hard at managing it and not eating over 2 servings of junk per week.
I will log my time of walk/jog, journal what I eat, and count hopefully never more than 2serving per wk junk... We'll see how this goes....

.... Hey, at least your weakness isn't some crazy pie like a double cream chocolate and peanut butter or something! Do you make it yourself?
