Qjay's thread

This is so good to look over again!

I have been in a desk job for almost a year and it has hurt my weight loss. I spent 6 months at the top end of the 200 club because I needed the money; no more. As of January 2nd, I am back in a job that gives me exercise and I am loving it. There isn't enough money to meet my bills, but there is a lot of satisfaction in the daily routine. I have had 3 days off in the past 2 months, and I took the time to work out with them.

work = weight lost, right?

The posts about dedication are as true now as they were a couple years ago. If you are new; remember we are not talking about a diet, but a lifestyle change.

My lifestyle includes a few BIG changes from my former lifestyle. It seems to be working. :D

I hope you have the same luck.

It is so very cool to see you posting here again. I'm really looking forward to seeing more here. :D

:D Hey! People I recognize!
Well, I hope everyone is doing well. I've had a few high calorie days, but I am still dropping inches, so I will trust everything to work out. The exercise of my "new" old job is so nice; it's such a pleasure to be physically active again.

Anyhoo, got out of a family birthday party today with a tiny scoop of ice cream, and a small slice of cake, after filling up on veggies and a HUGE rare filet mignon (rich uncle paid, of course).

The steak was soooo good. :D

it's such a pleasure to be physically active again.
Amen to that. We should start every post with that. I just got off the phone with my brother who's a veterinarian and he said he went to a geriatric convention today. I said for animals? He said, "dogs get old, too". What's the verdict I asked him? He said, "Keep movin'"

Now that I know my metabolism is working better from my workouts I seem to be more active the rest of the day, just to keep moving. So congrats on your workouts. Are you taking a day off in between? Hope you're working up a big sweat.

Yummo. Sounds like a great way to party!

It's great that your physical activity is feeling so good to you - it's such a lovely thing to be aware of.

I was thinking of you a little before you came back here - for a weird reason I suppose - because of the movie Twilight which I saw with my daughter. When I watched it, I didn't understand where the movie was supposed to be set. I thought the scenery had been put together just for the movie. But in an odd way the scenery at the beginning of the movie reminded me about your descriptions of the country you hiked in. Of course after I came home I checked up and found the brilliant landscapes were all pretty much the same as where they were supposed to be! (And not too far away from you I guess.) :)

12 hours of work today :D
Imagine standing up and kneeling down every few minutes for 0 hours or so. And counting at the same time! I just tell people "I crawl around on the floor and shoot things with a laser" when they ask about my job ;)

If I didn't like it, I would still be in sales and making a fair bit more money. Down a few inches already, especially if I get more 12-15 hour days!

Darn days off!
I'm home today; no work. Unfortunately that means I am "trapped" here with plenty of food (no money really sucks) but at least I am working my normal "lots of fruits and vegetables" thing. Still sucks; I had some cheese in some of my food, and some dressing on a salad, but other than that, I am eating relatively good-for-you stuff. Pretty tough to eat right, and I think my calorie count is going to be high, but not obscene.
Ah well; I'll be working again tomorrow evening... which is a long time away.

Doing some of my packing, etc., cleaned the house for a few hours, staying moving, and who knows, I might even drag my butt out for a workout. Ack... just doesn't sound like fun right now; I hate working out alone.

/Me thinks at the screen "Maybe a TV workout, I can do that. It is working out while I watch a show, take breaks during commercials, drink water when the show makes me want to eat."

Okay, I have a big deal after all my whining:
I just put on jeans I bought a few months ago.
Brand new.
For under $20.
And discovered they didn't fit.

I <3 the "200 club"; I am extremely happy right at this moment :D

When I bought these jeans, I was overestimating my "thin" and didn't try them on first, I was horrified to discover I couldn't even zip them up, and now they FIT and look right! Not too tight, not bulging, they fit!

I'm really seeing a difference just in the little bit of help I have here, and am really feeling all of the help I have received over the past year or two.

I'm dropping a couple more inches off my sig. :D

Thanks :D
One nice thing about the inches goal: It's just my first "real" goal.

I fully intended to set my goal to be reasonable and attainable. Way back in the early pages of this whine-and-bitch-fest I call a diary, I covered some of my "Fear of Thin" and I have discovered I like myself the same, BUT I have a lot less pain and problems with the weight I have lost.

One cool side note, my "little brother" now weighs more than I do, and he has been a stable size for many, many years. He's kind of freaked out by it, not sure what to do or how to feel now that his "fat brother" is the same size as he is (smaller by a couple of inches and a few pounds).

I saw some family members recently, for the first time in several years; they thought I was him. THAT is such a nice feeling...

Very nice results!

The less pain and problems is an amazing and delightful result isn't it? It's so nice to know that just dropping a little weight can bring a quick benefit and then there are more to come as you continue to lose.

lol, "a little weight". Cute, Felici :D

Well, I am wearing 2x and 3x clothing, instead of 3x-5x clothing. Does anyone know anyone who needs a bunch of 5x and 4x clothes? You pay for the shipping, I'll box them up.

LOL! I didn't mean that you had "lost a little weight"! :D

I had already held out a tape measure and visualized the difference between 58" and 44"! It's not subtle. You have obviously gone on to the stage where you keep getting more benefits! :D I was just thinking generally because it's amazing how much difference a week or so of doing it right can make to how I feel.

Are you curious about how much you weigh in pounds now? I would have thought you might have had a bigger middle at 365. [edit: probably cos I have no real idea, but rave on regardless]. You have had some active jobs - maybe you have lots of muscle?

On a sadder note: the knee. Oh shit! I recall that's been an intense issue for you in the past. What happened?

In order (kinda)
Yes, I had a bigger middle at 365, I'm down about a foot in sizes. the 44inch jeans refuse to become "comfortable" yet, but they can be fastened, lol. Not for relaxing straight out of the dryer, yet. I have another pair at the same size I will try out when I feel like I have lost some more belt-line.

I am still somewhere between 265 and 280 in lbs, I'm pretty sure. I went to weigh myself and the scale topped out at 250. D'oh! :toetap05:

The knee was just a stumble. I relocated it and "walked it off", It sucks, still sore the next day, but nothing much I can do about it, except keep building those supporting muscles and dropping weight to reduce the stresses on my joints.

It could definitely be worse, this is the first problem in quite awhile, so hopefully the last for awhile, too.

Hmm. 250 seems like a pretty low number for the scales to give up at! Scales find so many ways to annoy!

So about a foot of tummy = about a hundred pounds (= "lost a little" :D)? No wonder relatives are not sure who you are. :) It's great to hear how well you've done. Has your progress so far been a fairly steady thing?

I'm glad to hear the the knee problem was a relatively controlled blip (that you can keep working with?) From memory, you have been carried off previously (or was that just a fear?) At any rate, it seems your efforts have given your knee a lot more protection than it once had.
