Project Rox

I would take sight seeing over any kind of exercise any day!! One a girls night out, my friends and I walk over 10 miles zig zagging through NYC without knowing it. The most I walked was when someone *coughmecough* had bad directions and ended up lost in central park for 4 hours, I was too proud/embarrassed to admit that I messed up so we just kept on walking. So from 8 in the morning to 6pm constant walking trying to find shops.

You're doing great, all that walking and the aerobics combined with your controlled calories have been paying off. Though your caloric intake was low that day, once in a while won't hurt you. Also, if you're not big on eating at night how about pushing up your breakfast calories with a piece of fruit or vegetable, that way you won't feel bad because the calories are packed with nutrients.

ITA on the sightseeing! I love having guests because it's a good excuse to go out and be a tourist!

I'll definitely try your idea and have some fruit with my grain and milk in the mornings.

I'm having another one of those crazy days.
I had a good breakfast (300 cals) at 6:30 am, but by 1:30 I was STARVING! I finally managed to get to some food by 2, but I thought I was going to pass out!
Seven or eight hours is too long to run on 300 calories! Learned my lesson.

I decided to cut my hair today. I'm finding that my face is the last place i gain weight and the first place I lose it. In fact, the top half of me slims down far quicker than the bottom. So, even though I'm now in size 16 (USA size) pants, I'm a 12 on top and my face looks pretty slim...one friend recently even told me I looked gaunt!

So, I decided to go for a perkier and more energetic look. I also lightened it a shade for the summer.
I think (hope!) it's an improvement!
Here's the before and after..... of my hair:

Love the cut :) and your face looks really skinny. I've got a round fat face even at a low weight and with that and big boobs I actually look fatter than I am.

Your face is so thin!! Its the opposite for me, I blame baby fat that refuses to leave. When my face thins out, like 20lbs later I want to get a pixie cut.

I like your hair cut, its so nice and perfect for the summer.

Thanks so much!
But round cheeks can be nice too, you know- they can make you look younger!

And as for the boobs, I bet your husband doesn't think they're a problem ;-)

Thanks very much!

Also-You'd look adorable with a pixie cut!

LOl, that made me laugh as my husband was joking around yesterday and complaining that my boobs are gettign smaller.
Thanks so much!

I've been super-busy, but still sticking to my eating plan. That, plus all my activity is paying off- I weighed in today at 194lbs! That's a 1.5 pound loss since Wednesday.

27.3 lbs are gone!! Yay!

The only (tiny) downside is that the three pairs of capris I bought last summer are all WAY too big now. All i have to wear is a paeir of sizer 16 jeans I bought about a week ago. They were tight then, but are now getting loose!!!

I sort of hate to shop for clothes, as I still plan to loose so much weight. But I guess I will need some kind of interim wardrobe. Maybe I'll try in thrift shops and resale stores...

Another very busy day!!
I am in the midst of orgainising things for our vacation. We leave in one week!

Just for fun, I tried an all-liquid diet today. I counted calories as usual, but it was all protein shakes, vegetable juice, plus one small orange juice. I usually never drink OJ, so it was quite a treat! Tomorrow I weigh in for the June Challenge and I just want to be extra-sure to be at goal!

This morning, I pulled out a pair of capris that I haven't worn for four years. They are a size 14 (US). They not only fit, but were a bit baggy! My daughter said they looked too big, but I was pleased to have them on! That means I am nearing a size 12...and that's a great feeling. At least a person can start to find decent, affordable clothes in a 12. And I'll definitely have to buy some while I'm in the uSA on vacation. I really don't have many "skinny" clothes. *
I certainly have nothing in a 10!

Rox - Well done on the weight loss this week. It`s such a great feeling when clothes that you couldn't even get into before are now too big :)
You must be getting excited about your holiday. I hope you find loads of clothes that you look gorgeous in.
I don't think that I would ever be able to just have liquids although I am drinking a lot of Gazpacho which is a spanish cold soup made by liquidizing tomatoes, red peppers, cucumber onion garlic and water and served iced. It's really filling and very low in calories. I've found that I don't get the munchies so much in the evening if I have a couple of glasses of it.

I am gonna have to try Gazpacho, it would be a nice change from salad!!
Where did you find the recepie??

I live in Spain and everybody has it here but for convenience sake I usually buy it ready prepared. There's lots of different ways of making it and you'll find lots of recipes if you google it. Here are the ingredients from one recipe I found but I don't put the oil in.
# 10 oz of bread
# 21 oz. of tomato
# 2 cloves of garlic
# 2 onions
# 2 red and green peppers
# 1 cucumber
# 7 tablespoons of oil
# 2 tablespoons of vinegar
# 1 1/2 tablespoon of water
You just have to blend all the ingredients together and if you don't like the bits then you can strain it. It can be served very cold with a couple of ice cubes and very small peices of bread, cucumber, tom and onion sprinkled on the top. I tend to just drink it out of a glass and can get through a litre at one sitting and then feel so bloated that I don't want to eat again for hours. Works great in the evening as then I don't eat anything else before bedtime.

Congrats on seeing progress!! It feels great fitting into something that didn't before, same goes for having your clothes falling off you! The only downside is the cost, but at this point I find shopping at sales and department stores make it easier :) Now that 12 is your size, on to 10!

Thanks so much Val!!
And I LOVE gazpacho, too!!! I couldn't get by these days without either plain vegetable juice or, even better, a nice, thick gazpacho. I totally agree that it is a very satisfying food! I can almost feel the vitamins pouring into me!
You must have such lovely veggies to make it with in Spain.
I can grow zucchini here, but it's too high for tomatoes, so I have to buy them. They come from Provence, which is nice, but not like having them grown right nearby....

Thank you so much!
I have to say that I'm kind of surprising myself. I thought that I'd have a really rough time, as I am getting older now (44- EEEEEK!). I figured I'd have to pry off the pounds...and that I'd get discouraged. But this is getting into week 10 for me and I'm still happy with how I'm losing.

But, of course, I weigh lots more than you do! At 173, I'm sure your body is really trying to hang on to every ounc. In contrast, at 194, I am still pretty fat. I think my body knows it can let a lot of this flab go and not be in any danger of starvation, LOL!
So, it's not surprising you're a bit stalled with the weightloss. I think it's great that you don't give up, though. You seem very strong-willed!

So true! I wore some old size 14 clothes today when I went out with my daughters and when they saw me, they all told me that I HAD to go shopping as soon as possible! The shirt was twice as big as I am (maybe they exaggerated, but it was awfully big) and the pants were the baggy ones from yesterday.

It is totally FUN to be too small for a size 14 now !! I can hardly believe it....and size 10 is just around the corner!

It's hard to understand how I can weigh 194 and be a size 12, though...I guess it's the exercise?

We've got nearly 40 tomato plants in our garden grown from seedlings that a neighbour gave us and I was imagining all the lovely gazpacho I could make with it but it turns out that they are all cherry tomatoes. I love to just eat them on their own as snacks so I'm not too dissapointed. We have got 100s of tomatoes coming.
Thanks so much Val!!

Ooooooh! I am ALSO all about cherry tomatoes! I am SO jealous- thinking of you on a beautiful, sunny island in the middle of your own cherry tomato plantation!

Today I weighed in at 192.5 lbs (87.5 kg) !. That's 1.5lbs more gone in the last five days.
I am really pleased with my progress and I know I can make my mini goal....

Last night, I stayed up far too late, digging out old clothes that i haven't let myself look at in the last few years. There's not a lot, but the few things I saved are nice.
I tried on a beautiful size 12 silk dress that I wore exactly one time back in 2003 when I bought it...and now it's almost too big!
SO motivating! I can easily be a size 10 in time for the reunion in July.
And then I'll be seeing my husband's side of the family at the end of August. It will be nice to see them and not feel embarrassed that their gorgeous son has a super fat wife..

Then my 45th birthday will come on Sept 1st! What a feeling that will be to arrive at a benchmark birthday and feel like I'm really turing my life around and doing something for myself. I adore my dh and four kids, but they have taken up lots of my time and attention over the years. Obessessing over my diet and getting in my exercise have really forced me to spend more time on myself- which is certainly not a bad thing!

As for details of daily life- i'm not tracking my diet here anymore. I've been doing this for 10 weeks (nearly!) and I figure people know the kind of stuff I'm eating.
I am tracking my consumption every single day, but over on MyPlate. I LOVE that site!

As for quantities, I'm keeping it at 1000-1400 per day. I do try to keep to the middle of the range and average about 1100. Yesterday, I had 1202 calories, according to MyPlate. It was whole grains, fruit (cherries!!), veggies (stir-fried) and chicken grilled outside. SO yummy!
I am still very careful to measure everything, just so I don't get careless. It's really important that I don't slack off even the tiniest bit!

I am actually really enjoying my weightloss journey. Is the weird? LOL. Before, I was hating myself SO much that it was a real burden in my life. Now i feel good about myself - not because I look perfect, or even really nice. i'm still pretty fat. But at least I'm working on this and really accomplishing something.

The support from the people on this board has been a key factor. Again, I want to say a heartfelt "Thank YOU!" to all the people who have written and encouraged me.

The forum provide help in other ways, too. If I am bored and tempted to snack, the first place I go is this board. Then I read and read and read. There are practical hints, of course, which help tremendously. But I mainly come for the positive, weightloss-enabling atmosphere. It really keeps my head in the right place...and SO much of weightloss is mental. Am I right?

Sorry to ramble. I guess I just feel chatty this morning. My dh has been gone for three weeks now on a work trip- so I guess I'm loney!
And in fact, I won't be seeing him again until July 16.
Won't HE be getting a surprise? The last time he saw me, I weighed 202.6 lbs! He knows I've been losing weight, but I think that not seeing me for a month will really make it quite interesting for him. My kids see me every day, so they are used to me shrinking a bit each day. But my DH will get the dramatic unveil! Such fun!
