Phoenyx's Final 10 & Journey to Fitness

I just dropped in to read through your diary. I'm very impressed by your progress. You've come a long way. I can't wait to be at least halfway there. Thanks for all your comments. I'll be checking in on you again soon. Take care.

So glad I went to my martial arts class tonight! Got the chance to kick the shit out of something. Well, not just something, a punching bag. Great thing about tonight, I was the only female in the class, so the instructor couldn't automatically pair me up with another female just because of gender. I like to spar with the guys too, especially when they don't hold back just because I'm a girl. A lot of the girls that have gone through that class are a little too tentative with throwing a punch at times. C'mon... its into a Target MIT fer crying out loud!

Bring it on woman. I'll light your world up!

:p

Happy Friday.

W00T! 1st goal surpassed!!

Awesome! Losing weight can get expensive with the clothes, huh? I think everyone on this site should probably practice her/his tailor skills as well ;)

If you're serious, get a book. I think my book and basically me just getting up and doing more yoga is what made me get better and more interested into it--my favorite book right now:

Its an expense I don't mind... just have to do it gradually so I don't go broke replenishing my wardrobe. Luckily I tend to be a jeans & boots type, and I don't need the $200 pair of designer jeans. Levi's are expensive enough, thankyouverymuch!

I'll check out that book. Thanks!

Thanks! You've been doing quite well yourself. This has been my obsession since I started in February... that's been the secret to succeeding this time.

Happy Friday.

You'd probably kick my ass... but I am sneaky. :willy_nilly:

This week's weigh-in took me 1 pound past my initial goal!

Weight: 164 pounds
Body Fat: 26.1%
BMI: 24.2

Yeah!! I'm super stoked about this! I reached my original goal before heading to Kansas!

:hurray:

Bleah, its been an exhausting week. I can't wait to go to Kansas for a NASCAR race weekend, just so I can get some rest. :ack2:

Seriously though, I'm kinda excited about getting to unwind in the midwest.

Nice work! I'm so waiting to say the same thing in another year or so.
Which race are you going to? Kansas, Talledga, or Charlotte (Or wth is it called now, Lowes or something like that. It's always Charlotte to me)?

Kinda sucks being in Cali as the only Nascar I get to is Sears Point, as everything else is a huge expense to get to. But Direct TV makes it pretty nice with the Nascar Package. Hd is so sweet for the races.

I'm off to the Kansas race. My favorite driver's home track. A lot of members of the fan club are going to be there, and we're going to meet up that weekend for a party or three.

Hey, his sponsor is Jack Daniel's... you know there's gonna be partying! We've got to support the sponsor, after all.

Last couple years I've been to Sears Point (Infineon, whatever) for the day previous to the big race, but haven't been there for the big race yet. Maybe next year. This year it was BLOODY HOT at the track. Definitely courted heat stroke, but I got some great pictures when the Cup guys were practicing.

Yesterday was a blast! There's a car show out here called Billetproof. Its sort of the anti-GoodGuys show. Started 12 years ago as a tiny show with a couple dozen hot rods, now its evolved into this juggernaut with 3 other dates across the country, and well over 1000 cars at the NorCal show. Great show, lots of awesome old steel, lots of fun.

For the first time in 3 years I actually saw a lot of the car show. Reason I hadn't before is I was the person who organized the pinstripers' panel jam (lots of paint slinging happening there) and I'd get so wrapped up in painting, making sure things were going smoothly, etc. I would not really get away from that area. This year I didn't really paint much, but I did get to see more of the show. AND one of the vendors that I've purchased a couple rings from in the past was happy to take them to resize them since they're both too big now.

I'm still kinda tired. But I'm in a lot better shape the day after the race this year than I was last year.

One thing that was a LOT of fun... there were several people I know through the car shows that hadn't seen me since March at the latest. They were, shall we say... rather shocked by my transformation. Everybody there has always known me while I was overweight.

I got to talking to the girlfriend of one of the pinstripers, and it turned out she had lost about 70 pounds a couple years ago. Looking at this woman, very sexy, curvy, gorgeous gal, there was no indication that she was ever overweight. So she knew exactly what I meant when I told her that I had that point of 'okay, that's enough of this shit!' before I started losing weight.

Another of the women that I see at the shows a lot had just started a program similar to the one I am on, so I was happy to be proof that it works.

Today I went to my Dad's for his birthday. The family was there, haven't seen my stepbrother & family or my stepmother's brother & his family for quite a while, so last time they saw me I was still at my heaviest. It felt good to not be the chunky one in a room full of people who are, for the most part, in really good shape. Even my stepsister who just had a baby a few months ago doesn't look it.

Ok, better go do laundry before I have to start figuring out what to pack.

Bleagh! Kinda blew my 'diet' the last couple days. Ended up having a burger and some fries last night (didn't eat at least half the bun, and maybe ate 1/3 of the fries... then the grease aversion kicked in), plus various & sundry other junk. The good thing is it wasn't in the quantities it would have been in the past. Gonna make a nice big salad for dinner, with some shrimp on it, maybe some chopped up hazelnuts and almonds. Yeah, that sounds good.

Hey, that all sounds like great fun! And how nice it must have been to talk to a woman who had also lost over 69 pounds!! And it must have been very nice to not be "the chunky one" at a family gathering :)

Congrats on surpassing your original goal. You have good reason to be stoked, that's awesome!

Thanks! Stoked, relieved, enthusiastic to continue getting in the best possible shape I can. The difference this time has been the consistency of results in losing the weight, which gave me more motivation to keep at it... and it feeds on itself.

And the yoga... boy has that been helping lately! Even if I'm just doing the basic sun salutes at this point... I was so out of whack Friday night because I didn't do it in the morning, so I went ahead and did it when we got back from dinner, before I had to start scrambling to get things together for the car show the next day. Very worth the 20 minutes it took.

Hmmm, wonder if I can find a yoga class while I'm in Lawrence, KS?

LOL!! Steve, aww YOU! ;)

Phoenyx--I don't blame you. Not to discourage you but Margaret and I are both sort of struggling with getting to our pre-vacation weights, and we didn't even binge or get wasted all the time.......grrrrrrrrr. Not to mention traveling often bloats and constipates people...gross.

'See' y'all in a week!

Pics of said jeans.

hehe... pics will be forthcoming after this trip... hell I'll probably get pics during this trip!

No worries, not discouraged. If I put on a few, I'll work hard to get them back off. Have the psyllium husk that seems to help when traveling. Bleah, gotta finish packing because the shuttle gets here soon. Guess I'll be sleeping on the plane.

See ya in a week!

Jet Lag not so bad

I'M BAAAAAAACK!!!:willy_nilly:

I survived the midwest! Actually, I had a really good time. The race weekend was an absolute BLAST! My couple days' stay in Emporia was fun, and very bizarre. Wish I had more time to spend in Kansas City proper (mostly on the Missouri side), so I guess I'll have to go back someday. DID manage to get through the Harley-Davidson factory tour yesterday... that was super cool. I recommend it to anybody that will be staying in Kansas City, MO.

So I went to my doc's this morning to check out the damage from the trip. Only gained 1.6 pounds. HOWEVER, I lost body fat. Down to 25.8 from 26.1. Looking at my printout between 8/29 and 10/3, I've actually put on a good amount of muscle. I'm relieved, because I wasn't very good about what I ate. Tried to be, and when I ate the naughty stuff, I made an effort to not pig out on it too badly. I did manage to hit the gym once while staying in Lawrence, and made use of the hotel exercise rooms a few times as well. Lots of treadmill action. PLUS tons of walking around. Boy did we do a lot of walking a the Speedway last weekend! Where the truck was parked, to the track, back to the truck, back to the track, walking around to find other members of the Driver's forum & fan club, up and down the stairs to our seats... you get the picture.

Anyway, I'm jumping back on the fitness obsession train, picked up a Tae Bo DVD today to have fun with... back to my regular workouts, and back to the healthy eating. :hurray:
