Phoenyx's Final 10 & Journey to Fitness

hi Phoenyx! You are a superstar for losing all that weight and feeling good about it :D I'll check out your pics in a minute :)

Let me know how yoga works for you in the am--I've been doing it, too, but miss my day this morning :(

Loooove those baggy pants!!!

Saw the pic, looking good lady!

Ooooo, I REALLY want to do more yoga again... only have the internet as a resource for info tho... any ideas anyone?

Try Yoga Journal's website. yogajournal.com. I bet if you google 'yoga' you would find a lot of great (and not so great, so be careful!) information.

Ok, weighed in this morning after not doing so last Friday because I was in Las Vegas.

I lost another 1.3 pounds! And lost more body fat!!!! :willy_nilly::willy_nilly::willy_nilly:

I'm more excited about the body fat going away at this point.

LESS JIGGLY BITS!!!!

So as of today:
Weight: 166.7
BMI: 24.6
Body Fat: 27.2%

And the 501s are fitting quite nicely today. :hurray:

Now, here's to hoping I can continue the 'weight loss while traveling' when I head to Kansas for a week in a couple weeks. WHEEEEE!!

I know it does... and I know that since I'm heading to Kansas... there's a lot of good bbq places around. I love bbq!!

Ah well, all things in moderation. And I still plan on sticking with a workout regimen, even in Kansas. :biggrinjester: Granted 2 of the days I'm there I will be doing a lot of walking since I'll be at the Kansas City Speedway, but I've been looking at fitness centers out there too... hopefully one of them will have a day pass type of thing that isn't too extortionate. There's a really cool looking one in Lawrence, not too far from where we're staying.

Sounds good!

Just as a quick precaution: walking on vacation seems like it takes more calories than it truly does. I'm sure you're intelligent and educated on your energy needs and deficits and all, just wanted to share my own experience with vacationing where I was like "Well I did ALL THAT WALKING! So I can eat this or that" only to find later that I overestimated! ;) Have a great time!

Who are you, and what is with that sledgehammer?

Well, it would seem that TOM really decided to kick my ass. Again. Cramps, bad headache, and a mental/emotional breakdown & anxiety attack that really got triggered by bad traffic this morning... I turned my truck around and went home for a while. I know my boss is gonna be pissed at me, but he knows these happen occasionally... maybe every few months or so. I hate it when this happens.
:ack2:

Ugh, I know the feeling. I'm supposed to start Friday and I woke up in a HELLACIOUS mood today. I'm a little better now that the 5 o'clock whistle is approaching, but all day long when people would come into my office I just wanted to claw the desk.

Maybe that is why my weight loss is crawling this week. Sob!

Oooh I'm sorry to hear that, girl--take care, relax, and don't feel bad--we all need a break and TOM really screws with us--it's physiologically PROVEN!!!

Exercise, although the last thing you might feel like doing, really helps....hope you feel better!

Ugh, still feel 'blah' but better than I did. Made it to work.

I did manage to do some basic yoga, that helped a lot. I have my martial arts class tonight, so hopefully I'll feel up to going. I really want to go.

Glad things are improving a bit, even if it's slightly.

And this is my first visit to this lovely diary. :)

hey great!! :D If you really want to go, then go! You'll most likely feel great getting aggression out and practicing discipline ;)

HIYAH! :coolgleamA:

Thanks! I'm doing better now.

And welcome! :biggrinjester:

Oh yeah, I'm going. I may even get there early enough to beat on a punching bag for a bit.

When I get back from my vacation, I'm really going to see about getting a punching bag set up at home. The add-on room has exposed beams in the ceiling... perfect for hanging a heavy bag from. Eventually, maybe a speed bag too... just for coordination.

I keep telling the CFO here at work we need one on the back balcony... but he doesn't think I'm serious. You know what I'd be doing during my lunch breaks here... :boxing:

I think I'll make some PMS muffins when I get home, provided I can find some ripe bananas at the store.

Oh Yeah!

So glad I went to my martial arts class tonight! Got the chance to kick the shit out of something. Well, not just something, a punching bag. Great thing about tonight, I was the only female in the class, so the instructor couldn't automatically pair me up with another female just because of gender. I like to spar with the guys too, especially when they don't hold back just because I'm a girl. A lot of the girls that have gone through that class are a little too tentative with throwing a punch at times. C'mon... its into a Target MIT fer crying out loud!

I guess during this 5 week segment we're focusing on Muay Thai, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, and Filipino Kali. Only thing I'm not overly fond of is the Brazilian Jiu Jitsu because of the grappling on the floor, but I LOVE the Kali! Still, I guess learning the grappling is just as important. Never know if I'll need to utilize it.

Note to self: Do your damn yoga in the morning!
It does seem to put me in a better frame of mind if I do.

Feeling considerably better this morning. Still a little 'blah', but that will probably last until Thursday. Thank goodness it hit when it did... I'm gonna be on jet powered roller skates for the next couple weeks. There's a car show that I organize a pinstripers' gathering for on Saturday, and I'm on a plane for Kansas next Thursday. Between now and next Thursday... its go time!

DId my yoga this morning, and put in the Rachel Brice isolations DVD. Didn't need to do her yoga warmup since I did the one from the Yoga Journal DVD. The isolations on that DVD are really good for cramps since there is a lot of focus on the hip and ab area. That's why I love that DVD so much... it focuses on slow, smooth, muscular movements... hypnotic and snakelike. On her Arms & Posture DVD she shows this move called 'Sidewinder'... just fantastic. Probably do legs tonight.

Ok, time to hit the showers and go deal with the siamese cats. Hopefully this relatively mellow mood will carry out through the day so I don't end up meditating on how I'll need to hide the bodies. :biggrinjester:

Awesome that you did the martial arts! Grappling is way more technical and difficult than the novice suspects--I was paying close attention to this Pride High Octane DVD at the grappling parts and was amazed. I don't blame you for this being your least favorite part!

And HELL YES to the am yoga--isn't it great? Sets my day to a fabulous start, I even am doing yoga in the am AND at night (or aiming for that, today and yesterday).

HUGS! :)

Yesterday was pretty good workout-wise. Went ahead and did the weight workout for my legs when I got home last night, on top of what I had done in the morning.

When I get back from vacation I am going to have to look in to finding a yoga class. At least for a little while so I can make sure I'm doing the moves/breathing right.

I had the realization hit home this morning that I really have no sweaters, long sleeve shirts, etc. in anything smaller than an XL. In other words... they're a bit on the large side now. If I could sew the sides to the sleeves, I'd look like a Sugar Glider. :smilielol5:

Ugh, not nearly enough sleep last night. Gotta stop doing that. :leaving:

haha, ye, the clothes thing becomes a problem after a while :p

Wow, you REALLY inspire me with your dedication to your workouts! I have been keeping up with mine this week, here's to another good week!

Its a problem I don't mind having, really! Its when it is the other way around that it sucks. But I'm close enough to the ultimate goal that I can start finding some decent long sleeved shirts for winter.

My 501s that I bought at that second hand store are now considerably looser than when I bought them. I think I must have dropped a chunk of weight this week after TOM left me alone. I also tried on that pair of shorts of my husband's that have been lurking around for years... size 30s, and I was able to get them on & zipped up! Still a bit of muffin top on them, but not much longer until they fit comfortably. Too bad it won't be before heading on Kansas, I'd at least have a pair of shorts to bring with me. I'm needing to go try on a pair of size 8 Carhartts just to see if they're going to fit better than the 10s. Oh, darn.

Hmmm, I think its time to go visit my chiropractor. Neck's still bothering me and I don't think its all from a muscle pull. Owie.

I can't wait for my new Yoga DVDs to get here! I hope I can at least go through them a couple times before I go on vacation. Would be nice to have some idea of other moves just to try to keep at it while I'm gone.

That, and the Tamiliee 'tight on time' torture DVDs... those should be, um, fun?

Ok, gotta go set up a photo shoot.

Awesome! Losing weight can get expensive with the clothes, huh? I think everyone on this site should probably practice her/his tailor skills as well ;)

If you're serious, get a book. I think my book and basically me just getting up and doing more yoga is what made me get better and more interested into it--my favorite book right now:
