Hi all
I'm currently following a high protein low cal eating plan. It's very hard to stck to but gets results. I go gym two or three times a week and walk on avg 7 miles a day. What you might call fat but fit.
My journey seriously began a year ago. Size 18 now 14. 12.7 stone now 11st. I would do really well then put weight on every school hol. Eating and not going gym. Now I will stay active around the house gardening cleaning and control my eating.
Being short means my bmr is around 1200 to lose a pound a week you need to consume or exercise to the tune of 500 less a day which makes daily cal intake very low and for most extreme but it's bcos of the height. Avg 2000 cals a day is for avg height person. For years I thought eating 1500 cals daily was losing but I never did I kept gaining at 300 cals over my bmr I can see how. I eat for nutrition as well and if I fancy something I wonder is it worth it. I hav ran an 8 min mile a 5k and a 10k. I have until march to b fit at 40. I want a healthy bmi so I can deter any health issues. My family hav bags of pills for diabetes blood pressure high cholesterol I'm healthy and want to give myself every chance to stay that way

Please join me if you need support or hav the same goals or stats. Look forward to posting my achievements. Thank you 4 reading. Next ones will be shorter just like me??

A???? everyone is poorly at home. So haven't been gym this week OR done any walking. I am sticking to my eating plan normally difficult to do if I'm at home all day.
Not really thinking about weightloss as I've got plenty else on my mind.

Don't be shy and say hi. I'm new here and looking to give support and gain support. Never been able to stick to it before but usually go it alone. Hope that reaching out to you all will help me succeed this time for good. Thank you??

AHi all. I'm on track to lose 3lbs. Just found out my cholesterol is higher than normal. Motivates me to keep on track. Went gym today burned 300 cals. Also walked apprx 4 miles pedometer not worked so a guess.
??Happy I'm doing well and my mood has lifted.

Welcome

I applaud your good start. You have plenty of time to reach your goals by March.

Do you have a formal eating plan or are you just counting calories?

AHi brawny??and everyone. Good news lost 2lbs this week.

Brawny: I eat protein bars and track cals at 600-800 a day. Try not to eat food bcos it sets me off while pbars take away any cravings. I'm under the assumption that with my bmr at 1200 and to eat or burn 500 less a day loses you a lb a week that although 600 is low its right for my height.

During the last year I've been on a learning curve this works for me.

I also go gym and walk ALOT!

How are you doing on ur wloss journey?

AHi everyone. ?? weekend = more time in the house. Coming to terms with introducing more food into my diet as I have been going too extreme at 600cals. I'm frightened of food but if I'm to make a lifestyle change I need to learn how to eat without eating too much, feeling guilty or hating myself.

So far today I did eat well but admit to having a piece of brownie just bcos it was there. It won't harm my diet but I didn't need it. Thankfully I stopped myself at one. In future there won't b any in the house!

Check in again soon and do say hi. Wishing you all a successful weekend

AHay fit 40,
I've just come back on this site after a break. Looks like you are doing well.
600 cals sounds like so few, it must make it tough to stick to. Do you eat your exercise cals, that would be one strategy for including more cals in your day.

See ya round.

Ab

APut on one lb. only bcos I've eaten rather than have protein bars. I'm so upset. But I do want to eat food rather than get hung up on pbars. So I'm going to eat alternate days with pbars alternate. Will keep activity up as well. Really want a loss at end of week.

Hey Fit40,

Saw you jumped on the rocktober challenge and wanted to drop by and say hullo and wish you all the best.

That 600 calories/day sounds really low to me as well especially for someone so active. I found a good BMR calculator on the fat2fit radio website that let's you put in your current stats, goal weight and get a recommended calorie intake that you might want to check if you have a few minutes. I was really surprised how many calories they recommend but to get a rough idea it was very useful.

I posted on your UK thread too (wasnt sure if they would let a Texan in there but they did) Glad you are in on the challenge

lets get a jumpstart on all those new years resolution people who are gonna show up in a couple of months!

AForget the gain. I'm eating a meal bcos that's what normal people do?
going gym tmow. Still feel down but just gonna keep going

Good choices all around fit40,

There are too many variables that can cause a small swing up or down from day to day and the majority of them don't mean much. Weighing at a different time of day, eating a salty meal the day before, being more hydrated or missing a "regular" movement. I've seen a few people on here also measure other numbers such as body measurements, counting belt loops and body fat percentage as additional feedback on how things are going that aren't tied to the scale. Personally I think some of those numbers are probably a better indication of how things are going as they are more noticeable than a number on a scale.

Keep making the same good choices day in and day out and the results catch up. Forcing yourself to show up to gym is also a good thing as it's sometimes just a question of getting started and all of a sudden you feel much better about being there. Fake it 'til you make it works.

ALike the fake it idea. I'm just as obsessed with gym so that's not a problem. The sensible me knows a 1lb gain isn't all that. I'm getting fitter my shape is changing. Thanks for helping me stick in there. I do still really want a loss this week.

??????

AHad only one pbar today. Two meals but then had a crunchie and cake with buttercream. Tasted soooo good. Why? Bcos I wanted to! I know but I don't even feel bad so in a way that's a good thing. 80/20 rule (Dr Marber-A-list) says if you r good 80% of the time you can treat urself other. It's the only way to stick to a diet. It's all relative tho?

Got decorating to do all weekend so I will be distracted but in all weekend. Do want to relax with my food without going overboard. Not a gr8 wloss strategy but better than giving up altogether.

Keep posting ????????

ALost the pound I put on plus another one. I'm pleased but its so painfully slow. Unless I can increase my exercise I can only expect a lb loss.

I'm sticking to pbars as much as poss with an occasional food. It seems to work only I keep changing bcos family n friends are concerned about me not eating and say I will put it all back on when I eat?

Lighter life have 600 cals if ur obese so I'm only eating same as that and my bars contain vitamins.
I have milk in coffee for calcium.

If I can stick to it for 12 weeks I could reach my goal weight.

That 12 weeks is gonna pass anyway...why not make them count? Good job on the loss. They add up. I lost 1 pound too but Im gonna ramp up my effort and see if I can do better this week.

ACongrats on the loss, a lb a week really adds up quickly when it's in the right direction. Try not to overdo it on the pbars, there's plenty of super healthy foods out there packed with nutrients too.

A??Thanks for the support folks. Put on a pound due to comfort eating.

However. Going gym x5 this week. Burned 1000 cals today in a two hr session. Sticking to my eating plan.

Should get a loss this week. Only day two but will try my hardest.

Fed up with pound on pound off. Need to prove that real effort gets real results.

Back soon ??

Great job on the long session at the gym. Spent a few months doing the up and down thing too so now focusing on one day and one decision at a time

AThank you. Doing another 1000 thurs(tmow). I've lost 10lbs this week already.

Guys please help I'm on holiday nxt week = no gym and more spare time
How do I keep my mind focussed bcos I know to stick to my plan and hav fun being active for some reason I think holiday = eat and be lazy
Suggestions welcome. ????

Thanks EVERYONE so supportive it helps tremendously. I wish u all success and I'm glad you are in this with me.
