Petals diary

Thanks Em and Rob .
last 2 days have been ok . Eating well . Have a bolagnese cooking now . Mince , garlic , onion , peppers , grated carrot , tomatoes , beef stock . Smells good . Totally enjoying lots of soup too .
My gums much much better . I’m rubbing the gel on few times of a day with my brush . Seems to be helping .
Rob I’m the same although I have promised myself some out with some coffee sometime . There is a shop where I like it but I don’t get there maybe couple of times a year one which will be soon .

I'm loving the sound of the smell (eh?) of your bolognese - ahhh... garlic! what an evocative aroma that is. :) And I love a bit of carrot in dishes like that - had chunks of carrot in the chilli beans I made last week...

And really, really good that your gums are better. Phew!
I'm agreeing vehemently with LaMa (and you, I expect!) that "carrot cake" and "sin" have nothing to do with each other - nor does food generally. We have a complex relationship with it - it's fuel, but it isn't just fuel by a long chalk. It's also a delight and a pleasure, and giving, sharing and experiencing delight and pleasure is definitely a good - a kindness, to oneself and others. (But obviously not if it's going to make a problem for the recipient, by upsetting their systems, digestive or emotional or whatever.)

Which all adds up to - great that you're going to enjoy the coffee and carrot cake, sometime or other! :)

(As Rob says - no need to reply to this, busy woman! :seeya: )

Thanks all .
I wanted to see what my weight loss was like month by month so here goes all in lbs
May 7.5
June 6
July 6
Aug 3.5
Sept 2
Oct 3
Nov 1,5 so far
So let’s hope another 1.5 for this month .
Happy reading all that back .
looks so slow since August but no gains and it all adds up over time .

looks so slow since August
I have to disagree, it looks about right to me. Slowing your weight loss is a sign you are transitioning into maintenance. And you are still losing, that's more important than how fast.

You are feeling your way to a goal weight where you're comfortable. Are you thinking you need to lose more? If so how much, and why?

Fantastic work on the weight loss Petal, when you see it in number form like that, it is really impressive. If I could lose 3 pounds a month and keep it off, I would be delighted.

Thanks Amy, LaMa and Em . I have to laugh I was ahead of myself posting this morning . Back from official weigh in and I was up 1.5lb . Still it’s mid November so that’s zero for the month so far so just will try to have some loss by this day 2 weeks .

I did have a rather substantial lunch today and I drank a lot of water which I might not normally have before weigh in as it’s a bitterly cold wet day here and I was out and felt shaky I went for a lunch . So not too worried .
Rob I would like to lose some more so as days like today don’t throw me and I have room for a gain now and again . I will assess and see how I feel with another 5 lb gone . But guess that should be 6.5 lb now ! Lol

You've lost nearly 2 stone already in a short space of time. That's fab. It is annoying when it goes back up but I think you have the right attitude.

I think Rob's right on the money, when he says
...you are transitioning into maintenance. And you are still losing, that's more important than how fast.
And of course if you swig an eight-ounce glass of water, there'll magically be a half-pound up showing on the scales - and I bet you had more than that, let alone the "substantial lunch"! Your tabulation of the May to November results is much more telling than one (last night's) weigh-in! I'm sending you best wishes for next week's, just so you have a cheerful number to look at on the scale, but the fact that you've lost and are continuing to lose weight is absolutely incontrovertible!

(I know you don't want to formally be a member just yet, but do take a look at your plaque, on the walls of the 170 Club, page 22 - I think it's a great declaration for us all!)

Rob I would like to lose some more
I know you don't see yourself as in maintenance, and if losing a few more pounds would make you feel better or be healthier I am 100% behind it. But it seems to me you are feeling your way into maintenance, and trying to figure out what your real goal is a part of that. So is slowing weight loss. I really like your attitude on the 1.5 lbs, you are right of course, it will be gone soon.

Thanks Em yes I have lost 2 stone exactly . Hopefully so LaMa . Amy yes I'm just constantly fluctuating on the 170s grrrr but someday I will . However I will go look in a min lol . All true what you say. Rob thank you you have summarised perfectly what is going on with me . I am pretty happy in myself but I won't be if I gain again so I am back being very focused now for a while.

Now there´s maintenance mindset for you... even if you want to lose a little more. I don´t think I´ll ever really be done with this stuff.
LaMa it's lifelong mindset I think . I have lost weight before many times but I always went back to 'normal' eating when I got lighter. This time however I feel like now I'm eating normal , I like it and I don't want to ply my body with crap ever again.

And another voice joins the chorus! Hear, hear! :)

(And thanks for checking out the Club decor! That was very kind and lovely, in a busy life. :beating: )
