On my way to 63kgs

We just have to tell that little voice to SHUT THE HECK UP!
I'll think about you saying that if I start to feel insecure.
I keep trying the dress on and I just can't believe that they are my skinny little legs. I don't remember my legs looking like that since I was in my 20s. :) Still feel a bit conscious of my belly but a good pair of support knickers help a lot and my daughter says that it looks fine and I'm being over critical as even skinny people often have a bit of tummy. And I'm nearly 54 for goodness sake, I'm not expected to have the body of a teenager.

heh. I still walk past Evans (fat womens shop in the UK) and a littel voice says go in, that's where you should be shopping. you only deserve clothes from there!!

I bought a dress for work (knee length) for the the first time in over 14 years the other day...OMG, we are all going through huge changes about what we can and can't wear.

Show us some pics ecky!! I bet you look stunning!

Oh, and M&S magic knickers are...magic!! I have some that have a little zip up the front for extra hold-me-in and they are brill.

I'll have to check those knickers out Jay, they sound great.
I'll post photos up after the party tomorrow night if I get a decent one. If I can keep it clean enough I will wear it again for a wedding dinner on Saturday (unless I can find another new dress tomorrow) so should be able to get a good photo at one of the parties.
I know exactly what you mean about Evans. I automatically go to the large size department in C&As ( yes we still have a C&A here in Mallorca) It's only really this last time we went shopping that my daughter steered me away from dresses that looked like sacks and got me to try on more fitted dresses and the result is that I look much slimmer than in my baggy clothes. We need to totally re-think what looks best on us.
It's so nice to go out and not cry before hand because I look such a frumpy mess.
Next month I get to visit Bravissimo, can't wait!!!! I feel the one thing that is letting me down at the moment is my boobs as they are all out of shape due to ill fitting bras.
Oh and the best bit- I'm now back to my ticker weight so when I lose some more I'll be able to start moving it again. Probably not going to be any time soon though with 2 parties this weekend although the dancing should help to cancel out the extra calories. Friday is a buffet so I will try and be good but Saturday is a sit down dinner which is costing them a lot of money so I'll sneak food onto my husband's plate so that it doesn't get wasted.

You still have a C&A in Mallorca?! Wow that's old school! Don't tell me they still have Woolworths out there too?! :p

Can't wait to see the pic if you catch a nice one Ecky. I do so love that dress... and it's gonna look so good on you :)

Totally agree with M&S knickers. I have a couple of pairs and they are an absolute godsend if you don't have the time to drop that last couple of pounds and squeeze into something scrumptious. They are really easy on the wallet to!! xxx

LOL These M&S ones weren't - they are like £32 but...WORTH EVERY PENNY!! Another friend of mine who is more apple shaped (i.e. size 14 generally but carries weight around the middle, unlike me - big boobs, big thighs and but, but I go in at the waist) swears by Spanx. These things really work! I bought mine on ebay - I think they are M&S seconds as the label is marked with a red line but I don't care!! They were £8.99 so definitely easier on the the wallet!!

I completely agree Ecky about fitted dresses. I wouldn't have been seen dead in something that wasn't floaty a few lbs ago but I just bought this for work:

and oh my goodness, the fitted bit works wonders! I feel very shapely!! Not going back now to anything that isn't fitted around the waist!

The dress in the photo is for my son's wedding in July so I haven't got that yet. The dress that I will take a photo of this weekend is a red one that I bought a couple of days ago.
Yes we still have a C&As but lost Woolworths nearly 30 years ago. Also M&S pulled out of Spain a few years back. I used to love going there if I went across to Barcelona. They're talking about opening a Primark here soon. Off to put the knickers with zips on my England shopping list. Only about a month to go now :)

B00!!
Now I STALK you!!!
ha! How the worm has turned!!

I used to love C&A when I lived in Germany - the clothes were actually up to date and good quality...not like C&A in the UK just before it disappeared, when it went all cheap and rubbishy.

Love the dress Jay. Isn't it great that we are all starting to be able to wear stuff that we would have looked terrible in a few months ago!!
Post a photo when you get one, you can chop your head off - ouch.
C&As great when you are overweight as they have a great over-sized section but I don't enjoy shopping there now as I love to shop in the shops that I couldn't before.

You know what though? You look hotter than a LOT of teenagers out there!

It's kind of sad how overweight our young people are today. But it sure makes us more 'mature' gals look better when we stand next to them!

That dress is so pretty, and I love j's one too. Beautiful colours :)

Hey I was thinking the same about young girls today, there are a lot of REALLY overweight young Mum's at my kids school.

It's not so simple to put down your weight but, yes a strong will power will help you achieve your goal definitely....Keep on doing the good work.

LOL thanks. You are so right about the young girls. The Spanish girls don't tend to be so overweight but I see young English tourists that are grossly overweight and it doesn't seem to bother them one bit by the way they dress. I can't see them ever botherering to lose weight as they don't see it as a problem and I wonder what size they will be by the time they hit their 30s if they don't start doing something about it now.

Thanks Jess

I'm back to my lowest weight this year, now to start losing again. :)
Do any of you ever feel guilty about losing weight?
I saw a friend the other day that I hadn't seen for a year. We used to be the same size but if anything she has got bigger since I last saw her. I felt so bad for her when I saw her as she was happy for me but looked so sad at the same time and I felt as if I had betrayed her. I know it's silly but it does happen to me from time to time and would love to help people but they usually just don't want to know if I haven't got a miracle solution.

Congrats on being back to that lowest number!

I know what you mean about feeling guilty about losing weight when being around some people. I have the same issue. I find that I leave my jacket on or try to wear something baggier so they can't tell how much I've lost. But it's kind of hard to disguise a missing 50 lbs.

I think it's heart breaking that they refuse to listen to what it takes to lose the weight themselves. I can only hope that someday they'll be ready to listen and want to actually take those steps for themselves.

Hey Ecky!!! Don't feel sad about the loss...I mean, if anything, it might give them the incentive to follow in your footsteps!! You know? I think you're doing wonderful! Great job with all the dedication and persistence! Knock em dead! =)

I'm glad it's not just me Tig. I've done the same, not taken my coat off. I feel as if I'm showing off and rubbing it in their face which is so silly.
Well I have had a great weekend. On Friday we went to my friends son's 18th birthday. It was so much fun as it was a mixture of my age group downwards to kids and about 40 late teens. I picked at the bufffet but didn't totally overdo it and danced for hours to work it off. The kids were all great and danced with us all night.
Last night we went to my neice's wedding dinner. It was decicious, fish soup, shoulder of lamb and then cake. To tell the truth calories didn't cross my mind once while I was eating and I thouroughly enjoyed it. I'm glad because that really means that I have got rid of my obsession about food and can eat a meal without feeling guilty and be able to just get back to healthy eating afterwards. Again we danced afterwards but in some trendy discoteque with music that none of us liked so we just got silly and played about dancing.
After 2 nights of going to bed after 3 oclock I feel half dead so will probably get take out food as I don't feel like cooking and I have a house full of people that stayed over so that they didn't have to drive home. I'll share a kebab with my daughter so it won't be too bad if we have a light meal tonight. Not even sure how many people are sleeping downstairs so even more of an excuse not to cook.
Well none of the photos were very flattering but I'll put up one of me dancing on Friday to show that I can now get a away with showing my legs.

Ecky, you look great! So slim and young and funky!! I bet your husband was proud to dance the night away with you!

I too know what you mean about friends -one of my best friends is a size 24 and has struggled with her weight for a long time. She lent me some of her size 18 clothes that were basically new as she'd bought them and slimmed down but then put weight on again and the other day I gave them back to her because I had lost too much weight to wear them and I felt really bad. About 6 months ago, she burst into tears one night because although she was so happy for me losing weight, she felt so bad about herself. But all I can do is support her when she tries and not be holier than though or push her into anything (she has some medical probs that make it more difficult to lose weight - not that this is an excuse, just that despite trying hard, it doesn't come easy for her).

You look beautiful. That red is lovely on you and you look really young! What a great photo :D Glad you had fun--Was this in Spain? You'd get on with my Aunt--she lives in Spain and every time I visit her I'm dragged out dancing until 3 in the morning and then have lazy days in the sun the next day. Might be coming back out to Spain in April to dance the nights away :D

Have a lovely evening xx

Thank you girls.:) It was in Magalluf in Mallorca. Where do you go to Sunny?
My husband, bless him, didn't stay more than a couple of hours at the parties as he went home at 11 on Friday to take over looking after my Dad and last night he took him home to bed at about 11 so that I could stay out and have fun. We had a lot of fun dancing together before he went home. He's always made me feel beautiful whatever my size so I don't notice much difference now.

Miles away then. My son and daughter went up there with friends last month for a long weekend and loved it there. I should go and visit mainland Spain a bit more as I have only been to Madrid and Barcelona and a couple of days at Port Aventura theme park.
