On my way to 63kgs

Woohoo, I ran 3.5 kms today beating my previous record of 3.1
My daughter came with me even though she has arranged to go again later with her friend. The air con was broken so it was extremely hot and we came out of there looking like we'd just got out of the shower and had to drink over a litre of water afterwards.
I should have our little pool up by the weekend so it will be nice to come back and relax in there after a workout.

You amaze me!

You know, assuming you don't pass out from heat exhaustion, all that sweating probably helps you burn more calories. I'm actually starting to grow appreciative of sweating (it used to be my enemy) because I associate it with a good workout. So you must have burned a ton of calories in there. ;)

A pool... I'm jealous. So jealous. :D

LOL. the beer goggles weren't thick enough to make anybody look at me before. I had fun teasing my husband about it. :) I live a few miles out from the most lively tourist resort on this island and it is fun to sometimes just sit and watch the tourists making fools of themselves.
LOL! Don't men wear beer goggles where you're from? Or is that only in my small town? Sometimes it never ceases to amaze me who ends up with who at the end of a night out at the local bar. Bad thing is that in a small town, everyone knows and talks about it!

There's nothing like a good sweat to make you feel as if you are doing some good :)
It's just a mini pool but enough to cool off and exercise in. I'm really looking forward to it being finished. It has been cemented now, so on Sunday my husband and myself will put the pool up and then we need a day or two to fill it up. I don't feel as if a workout in a pool is doing so much good because of the lack of sweat but after a couple of hours in the sea yesterday I feel quite achey today so it must have done some good :).

I remember when I was young, my friends and I would hit our favorite bar and spend most of the night playing pool and gawking at women. One night, one of my friends would point out a fairly good looking girl and say theres a "4" and then another would be a "6" and then one would be a "9". I thought they were rating them on a scale of 1 to 10 so I said theres no way that one is a 9.. and they quickly replied..."No No....Thats how many drinks it would take for her to start lookin good! Needless to say, we were the guys who always ended up goin home alone! lolol My wife still jokingly says she never would have danced with me if I didnt have a porkchop tied around my neck! lol

Great to hear you got 'chatted up' Eycky! (Never heard that expression before lol) I'm sure you had a great time too!

Great job on the running and exercise! Water exercise is supposed to be really good to because of the resistance in the water. Keepin cool while doin it is just a bonus!

We put a small soft sided pool (3 ft deep by 15 ft around)in the back yard about 6-7 years ago for our kids to enjoy on the hot summer days. Well, it was sooo hot that year that my wife and I grabbed a couple of drinks and layed in the pool one evening after our kids went to bed just to unwind and take advantage of our purchase. Well...after few drinks one thing led to another and things started happening... ;) Next thing we hear is a 'cough' from the nosey 80 yr old neighbour who was standing just on the other side of the fence! My wife screamed, the old man screamed and the next thing you know our kids woke up and jumped in the pool with their pyjamas on thinkin it was party time! Talk about embarrasing!

Hope you have alot of fun in your pool! ;)

Take care!!!

Thanks for everybodies concern over the foot. I just had a look and it looks and feels fine :)
I know that feeling of being invisible Jjjay even amongst women. I agree though that it is more to do with confidence than anything else.
Amazing how the attention of a drunk can do your ego good. I suppose it's the fact that before nobody was ever drunk enough to pay attention to me :)

I'm so glad your foot is feeling better. It's hard to work out or even feel good enough to get out and about when there is pain. I spent two days doing NOTHING after WAY over doing it at the gym, I could bairly walk for two days after. Needless to say I will be careful not to take it too far again. lol So I totally know how you feel.

And I absolutely know the invisible feeling - I think most "overweight" people know exactly how that feels. It seems like the only time people take the time to really see us is when they make fun of us. My boyfriend and I have noticed that it happens to a lot of people actually. He is average in size and looks, but he gets treated like he's invisible all the time too. Even when we are in the grocery store or buying something the person "helping" us won't even look at him while they are talking, if we're together they only look at me. We figure it's because he's Chinese. I guess people look at him and assume he doesn't speak English (though he has lived here all his life and speaks perfect English without so much as even the tinyest bit of a Chinese accent).

My boyfriend and I are treated like we're invisible most of the time (he because he's Asian and me because I'm fat). We've named it "the non-entity effect". It's become an inside joke between us - when we're being blatantly ignored we say "Don't mind us, just a couple of non-entities here". I wonder if when I start taking up less space if I'll suddenly start becoming more visible. I wouldn't doubt it. Though I think it would really tick him off - it would suck if he is left all alone in his "non-entity" state. I can lose weight, but he'll never look like a "white boy".

Our pool is even smaller than yours. It's about 4ft deep by 10ft across. My husband has already had naughty ideas like yourself!!!!! It would just be my luck for a cat to walk past the sensor light and light us up for eveybody to see :) We also have a nosey neighbour who is nearly 80 and doesn't miss a thing that goes on in our house day or night.
Have a great holiday. :D

That makes me so mad Stacy. I hate any type of predjudice. I have had a lot of that living in a foreign country. I remember being with groups of women and everytime I said anything nobody even acknowledged that I was talking. I have often felt like standing up and screaming - I'm not invisible, and just because I have and accent doesn't mean that I'm stupid and not worth listening to. Funnily enough it was only the women that treated my like that. Now we have a lot of non Europeans living here and the English have now become acceptable as they have somebody else to pick on now. I'm glad that you have managed to laugh about it with your boyfriend and as you say people will probably change with you but not your boyfriend. My dad is probably the most non racist person that I know so has brought us up with his principles and any form of predjudice makes me so angry that I am nearly sick.

Well next week will be quite a challenge. I have 3 house guests for 10 days and will have to face, drinking alcohol, going out for meals and generally a lot more food being prepared in the house.
As long as I don't put on weight I don't mind and I intend to go to the gym as often as usual. My cousin has just run a marathon so he will understand my need to exercise and maybe even join me. Also the pool should be done by then so we can all chat in the pool and I can exercise at the same time.
Hope you all have a great weekend :)

I don't think it'll be a challenge at all. You have outstanding willpower! It's good that you're not using your guests as an excuse to skip the gym.
Enjoy the pool; I know I would :)

Thanks Rachel and I hope that you are right :)

Well today I went shopping with my daughter for more gym clothes as I'm fed up with having to wash them and get them dry quickly to use again. I bought myself some shorts for the first time in probably 30 years and they didn't look bad. :)
We came back and got the Wii out and did the Just Dance workout. It was fun but I am really uncoordinated and scored really bad but at least I was moving and we worked up a real sweat. Then I put a film on the telly and did half an hour of step aerobics while watching it.
Tomorrow and Monday I should be going to the gym with my husband if all goes well and hopefully my daughter if she doesn't party too heavily this weekend.
My daughter although she often eats badly while she's out had a dream about water melon last night and asked me to buy some wheras before she would dream about chocolate and want that.:D

You never know... you could end up standing as an example of the way to resist temptations to those who are visiting. :) I believe you'll do a great job keeping yourself in check.

Wow, has it really been that long since you bought shorts? I'm really proud of you that you bought them and felt good about it. :)

Just Dance sounds like a lot of fun! I really have to give that a try sometime once I get a wiiFit (I have the wii and have been thinking about getting the wiiFit).

Thank you, sweetie! I means a lot to me that you understand what that feels like. And like you, prejudice really makes me sick to my stomach. I feel bad for The Sweetie - like you pointed out, people will probably start "seeing me" when I get down closer to goal weight, but they will probably always treat him like he's invisible. That makes me want to weep. I hope that this world will someday learn to embrace it's differences instead of hating, fearing, and/or ridiculing them. I know things are getting better - they are SO MUCH BETTER than it used to be. So I know that there is a growing trend to acceptance, it's just taking so darn long. I guess all we can do until then is just lead by example - to never treat anyone different based on the way they look.

I'm really glad you'll have your cousin along to help you stay on path. You'll do great! Hey, if I can manage to keep from gaining weight on my vacation (so far so good - I still have 5 more days left) then you can keep from gaining weight with your houseguests around! I have faith in us! :D *big hugs*

JanaNanner - the Wii fit plus is great fun especially if you have more than one person doing it. We enjoy the Just Dance so much that I think that the Dance on Broadway will be on mine or my daughters wish list at christmas.
I'm also proud of myself for buying shorts :D

Stacy - I admire you so much for not putting on weight while on vacation. I really don't know if I could do that as food is such an important part of every holiday I've ever been on but I do know that now the damage wouldn't be any where near as bad as it would have been in the past.
Enjoy the rest of your stay. Hugs back at you :)

Stacey,

Like Val, I've experienced racism in another country. I know what it's like to have shopkeepers refuse to serve me altogether. They'd never say that, but would just pretend I wasn't there and serve everyone else. They thought I was English. I'm not, but that's the language I speak. But it was worse than that because English people were hated there and had been killed for nothing more than their nationality.

When I became fat, as jjjay also discovered, I learned what it was to become invisible. People started to treat me differently too, as if I no longer had feelings.

Where I live there is very little racism, but people who would never be discourteous to someone on account of race feel they can treat a fat person any way they like. And the media in the Western world is so cruel, just encouraging such behaviour.

Like you, I've never been racist, but it wasn't until I went to that other country, or became fat, that I understood in a much deeper way just how it feels to be subjected to such ignorance and cruelty for no other reason than the way you look.

But as you say, we can change our bodies, but not our race. If things are still moving slowly in your part of the world, maybe you could move to a country where they have a few more brain cells per capita?

It makes me so angry to read about the way you and your boyfriend are treated. Wish there was something I could do. Big hugs for you both.

Thank you, Val. I'm not sure if my lack of weight gain is going to hold or not though, I still have three more days and the toughest challenge is tomorrow. My Sweetie has plans for us to go to this place that specializes in dozens of different types of meat - and horror of all horrors...They keep bringing meat to your table, dozens of types, all these waiters walking around with all these trays of suculent and tasty meat dishes. My boyfriend and I hardly eat any meat all year long (except chicken and turkey) and every year we come to that same resteraunt and fill up on meat. So it's our one day of the year meat splurge day. I just hate to do it this year, I don't think I have any desire for it beause this is the first time going since my new healthy lifestyle. But I know The Sweetie is really looking forward to it. I know I can't get out of it. Oh well, I'll just pray that the damage isn't too bad.

Thanks, Disparue! :D I appreciate the hugs and encouragment. :)

My boyfriend pretends it doesn't bother him... heck maybe it doesn't. But somehow I doubt it. I think it would bother anyone to be treated like that.

And you're right, isn't it amazing how some people who would never even think of acting prejudicial or mean to someone based on their skin color, have no problem at all being mean, rude, or hateful to a person based on their body size? It makes me sick we live in such a "lookist" society.

By the way, you guys are so making me miss my Wii! lol I really want to try one of those dance ones! I might have to ask my boyfriend to get me one for christmas. Talk about aerobic exercise! Those dance games can be such a work out! :D
