Omega's journey

OMG! I checked out the link - hilarious!!! Makes you wonder what the hell they get up to:biggrinjester:

Tx for all the reps, much appreciated.

How you doing with your diet at the moment?

Tasha and R1962 - thanks for calling by to cheer me on. I really appreciate all the support that I get here.

Mands:

How you doing with your diet at the moment?

Things are going pretty well all things considered...

I am still eating according to my rules - but plotting the outcome shows that things are pretty much where I want them to be...

stats for the week:

Sunday stats:
1492 calories
109.7g protein
2045mg calcium
15.1g fibre
1252mg sodium
exercise - outdoor walking (8.33 miles)

Monday stats:
1329 calories
92.7g protein
1511mg calcium
17.8g fibre
1086mg sodium
exercise - 1hr aerobics plus outdoor walking (11.94 miles)

Tuesday stats:
1735 calories
145.5g protein
1743mg calcium
27.4g fibre
1585mg sodium
exercise - outdoor walking plus 2.5hrs salsa (27,162 steps 12.64 miles on pedometer counting everything)

Wednesday stats:
1548 calories
112.6g protein
2056mg calcium
19.0g fibre
2258mg sodium
exercise - outdoor walking plus 1hr zumba (27,360 steps 12.73 miles on pedometer counting everything)

I don't have historical stepcounts since the last pedometer cleardown - but save distances walked for a challenge on another diet forum which is why I have distances...

I should mention that my targets for nutrition are as follows

calories - to create a deficit
at my weight, age etc if I am totally sedentary and the ultimate in being inactive I burn 1702 calories according to fitday.
I keep my exercise high so my burn is always more than this...

protein
1g per pound of lean body weight...
I calculated this out from my body fat percent when I was at goal and 100g works out right...
the official RDA is a lot less - something like 60g...

calcium 1000mg

fibre 25g --- but I keep being a bit low for it at the minute...

sodium not more than 2300mg

in addition I am drinking 1oz per 2 pounds of my weight of water every day...

I managed it on all these days...

All in all I am hitting all my targets apart from fibre and I am definitely exercising enough to give a healthy deficit.

I never see the rate of weight loss that other people get... I am just pleased that it is a bit less than it was this time last week.

A bit like the tortoise and the hare... I will get there in the end...

LOL well the question was asked by Niapage... I think that Tammy abandoned this forum around the time that quite a lot of us left in 2009... I am still in touch with her on FB... :)

LOL Well she did lose an awful lot of weight in her project - her exercise levels were very good and she did very well...

:biggrinjester: I think that you may be onto something regarding the secret of her success... :smilielol5:

Do you think that I would get banned from FB if I asked her what exactly she meant then and whether she wanted to recommend any positions in particular...
:smilielol5::smilielol5::smilielol5:

LOL Maybe her teenage daughters that are also on her FB friends list would be interested in the answer... :smilielol5::smilielol5::smilielol5:

Tx for all the reps, much appreciated.

Your most welcome to the rep. I am pretty generous with the rep button. :)

Not long before a lot of us old timers left the forum the powers that be zeroised all our rep... We were not thrilled about it at all at the time... I must admit that I was so peeved that I swore to be more generous and spread joy with it if I was here...

http://weight-loss.fitness.com/threads/15690-Omega-s-journey/page188

Well - the powers that be have zeroised all the rep and I miss mine.

It represented a whole lot of people saying things like "thank you" or "congratulations" over a period of nearly two years. We only get to see the nice comments for a short time and then they disappear off the bottom of the list - and now the numbers have gone too.

Someone new will quickly have more rep than people who have helped others a thousand times if they make friends with the right gang.

I do not see how this move is meant to motivate anyone. It has not motivated me at all!

I miss my rep so much that others must be too!

I have decided that I am going to use the rep button a lot more than I have been because it is nice to spread a little joy. This move could well work against them if others feel the same way. I can envisage everyone repping every inspiring or joy giving post that they see for a while (and it is not something that I have given much thought to).

I am blessed with a good memory and remember such things - even when a few years have gone by...

Omega, I'm on the floor with laughter!! FB might just kick you off and then you kinda screwed! :)

That sucks that they zerorised all your reps. Unfair actually. How long have you been on this forum?

You are really doing great and you shouldn't worry how fast other people are losing. As long as you have a consistent weight loss and you make healthy food choices. You should be proud of yourself!!

LOL Mands - I certainly would be screwed... I am in touch on FB with a whole load of my old WLF friends that do not come here any more... People like Bikinibound, Miss ladybug, KaraCooks, Niapage, Cinderelly, Cord the Seeker, CurvyGirlie all post on there just about every day... LOL in fact most of the people that were in those old challenges... Bikinibound was the one that made that challenge ruling...

I joined the forum back in 2007 and got to goal in Spring 2009. I was pretty active on here back then as you can see from all the postings that I made... It was a big project where I lost 168 pounds and took my BMI down from over 52 to about 22...

Thanks for the rep.

I was a bit put out by the rep thing - but now have the attitude that I know that I can give it out every day and I do so often until they stop me with the limit that they impose... Its nice to spread joy and costs me nothing. :)

I actually think that the rep thing is a tool that can be used to good effect too. It can help motivate people... No-one has dropped out of my team in the challenge... We got a lot of good people - but there are good people in the other teams too... I think that the smack talk up front helped set the tone... I have repped people in my team too - and am convinced that it has helped encourage people to keep working hard... a lot of people like to see that little reward... LOL Then there is always the fact that no-one likes to be out-exercised by a 53 year old English lady... there is something about the very concept that makes everyone younger than me want to keep up... especially when they think about how fat I used to be...

Thanks for the project encouragement.

I am pretty pleased with the way that the project is going. Thursday was another good food day and my daytime walk plus 2 hours of salsa dancing meant that my exercise level was good too.

Thanks for visiting Mands.

My Saturday weighing was a new low at 11st4.4 i.e. 158.4 pounds for this year's project so that was good. Only by a fraction of a pound - but it is nice to see things trickle downward.

LOL I didnt hold the low for today so it has wiggled up slightly - but things are still trickling in a downward progression with all the weighings less than a week ago so all is good...

Calories have been as follows:
Thursday = 1688
Friday = 1875
Saturday = 1748
When you consider my exercise levels (e.g. Saturday was 1 hour salsa, 1 hour hardcore zumba plus 30 mins walking in the snow) - there has been a definite calorie deficit every day.

I would have hit all my targets (including fibre) except that I took my sodium high (at 2547) on one day... It is high - but not horrendously so...

LOL I got irritated at how the clubs section seems to have lost its direction since I was last at the forum.

People seem to be making postings that are not clubs and dont look anything like a club... There were hardly any real clubs visible at all. Most of the threads in that section seem to fit into other categories or be a subject to raise in an associated club...

If you do not have clubs - how are people ever going to track down the people that are fighting the same battles as themselves? People that are coping with a big project and feel enormous or people that only want to lose 4 pounds because they have always wanted a bikini figure, teenagers coping with all those trials, or for that matter people of more mature years...

It seems to me that it has been a case of open every diary and hope for the best...

While we all enjoy making friends with people that are different from ourselves - people can sometimes connect better and empathise better with people trying to do something similar...

I wonder how many people have turned up at the forum and not known where to start...

LOL I have been digging out lots of great clubs and posting into them to try to bring them back to life. It may work - it may not. If it doesn't work - at least I tried...

LOL someone answered their own thread with the only reply saying "I see that I have had lots of views and no reply"... I really wanted to reply "I viewed to see if it was an actual club and saw that it wasnt - it is just in the thread of clubs - maybe other people did that too... If you want the advice of an expert - there is a section for that. There are sections on exercise, nutrition etc too... This is the section for CLUBS".

Good work on the cal deficit and the weight loss omega. I lost my way for a few days, so I'm trying to remotivate and get back on the downwards train.

I think I'll start posting in that steps club. Might work for me I think.

Thanks for visiting Anna. I saw you in the walking thread. I've posted up my steps for Friday and Saturday.

I have just been on the scales and got a nice new low for this year's project...

11st3.6 which is 157.6 pounds.

The especially nice thing is that this brings my weight under the BMI of 28... It makes a BMI of 27.9... Now I know that a BMI of 28.1 sounds pretty good to a lot of people here - but a BMI of 27.9 looks better as it is creeping back towards the magic 25...

Fantastic job, Omega! For one, I am inspired by your project. I think you have mastered the key to making this change a lifelong one.

Great job. I think it was all the exercise you got typing out all those posts in the clubs forum. ;)

Seriously, well done and keep up the fine work.

Thanks for visiting.

Don - I think the fact that I have really embraced the notion of exercise being part of my life has saved me a lot of problems... Yes - I have gained from my goal weight - but even when my eating was poor I was trying to do a lot of exercise in most people's terms... I hate to think how much weight I would have gained if I hadnt been trying to get to zumba classes and salsa classes - or slot in walking whenever possible... I think that I am a poster person for the notion of the best kind of exercise is something that you enjoy... Luckily - I really enjoy dancing... Food control is something that I have a lot of problems with... I absolutely love things like bread that I know that I should avoid... When things go badly - I really crave bread... I am also apt to overeat on healthy food.

MrVee - thanks... LOL I couldnt help but laugh at the notion of the beneficial exercise involved in typing... LOL it is just as well that I am not a mod here or I would have probably been moving threads about... I guess it is the OCD (or indeed CDO in nice alphabetical order) that we were talking about the other day... I have never been diagnosed with OCD - but people that have been diagnosed have told me that I taught them the meaning of the word obsessive... Things really irritate me a lot if they are not in the right place... The fact that the non-clubs were hiding the real clubs so that people couldnt see what tools were there for them really got to me...

LOL - I might dig out the challenges that we used to do one day soon... Some good ones seem to have disappeared...

Whooooooooooooohooooooooooooooooooooo!!! Great job Omega!!! You are such an inspiration!

Hey Omega :seeya:

I saw your posts in the Weigh Yourself Everyday Thread and decided to check out your diary...What an incredible, inspirational journey you've had! Of the little bit that I've read so far I am in awe! You also seem to have lots of great insight and information scattered throughout your diary so I am definitely going to have to visit you here often!

As someone just started out for the first time in forever...it is so wonderful to see how hard work and determination can pay off. Thanks for the the motivation!

~Camila~

Thanks for visiting and cheering me on.

I got a new even lower low today on the scales 11st2.6 which is 156.6 pounds. On today's weighing that is over a stone that I have lost since the start of the new project on 2nd January.

:party::party::party::party::party::party:

I have looked through the challenges and I think that this forum is in need of more challenges... I will probably add some soon...
