Omega's journey

LOL MrVee - the fact is that I have a Geordie accent so everyone on this forum has a Geordie accent when I read the postings through in my head... That should blow your mind... You now realise that you have acquired a Geordie accent... :biggrinjester:

This is too funny!!! hahaha - it's true - everyone has a weird foreign accent when I read the posts... some German, some British, some Spanish & some American all mixed together. :D

Omega, awesome job on the exercise!! I've been curious about Zumba but I'm so scared to actually try it as I have a bad knee from Baseball and Martial arts - 3 operations later and its kinda buggered. Does it have high impact on the knees?

You will soon be a lighter you!! Keep up the fab work!

Thanks for visiting.

MrVee - I think that the concept of you not being able to understand yourself is hilarious. LOL - the Geordie accent can be a little tricky to understand...

I hate to mention it - but Newcastle definitely has some less upscale areas... There are actually some quite nice areas too.

My own accent is somewhat modified - so I am sure that you could understand me... This is because a/ my family is originally from another region so they do not speak with a strong Geordie accent b/ I am reasonably well educated c/ I only returned to live in Newcastle last year after living to the west of London for 27 years d/ my husband is from west London.

Justina - when my friend Kimberly (Bikinibound on this forum) came over from Michigan to see me a few years back we were stunned to find that each other's accents were absolutely nothing like we had imagined.

Mands - I have to admit that the zumba that I do would probably be tough on bad knees. Zumba is very addictive though so you may enjoy doing some of it. If I were you I would check out Zumba Gold. It is a modified form of Zumba which is geared towards people that would find standard Zumba to be a bit tough physically.

If you once give it a try and think that your knees would be ok - you could chat with your instructor about other classes that you could do.

My husband often comes along to Zumba with me and just does the bits that he enjoys and modifies the steps and jumps to fit in with the fact that he is still pretty big and has punished his joints over the years by decades of gout attacks etc... Our Zumba instructor is great and is always enthusiastic about all attendees - irrespective of their physical limitations...

R1962 - A London accent is a lovely accent. When I first spoke to my husband I decided that he had a gorgeous speaking voice.

Want2lose - I really can recommend that everyone tries dancing as it is a really fun way of exercising.

I have done my quiet time for today - so I have only missed the one day so far - that was Saturday.

I managed to do my quiet time for the challenge on Friday but forgot all about it on Saturday.
Friday was outdoor walking.
Saturday was a salsa lesson and a zumba class plus a bit of outdoor walking.

I am finding it a difficult one to remember to do though...

Most things that turn up in these challenges are things that I either do every day or know that I ought to be doing them... I tend to find such things far easier to remember...

My exercise levels are still good. I have had an aerobics class today and done some outdoor walking... I didnt get to the Zumba class that I sometimes get to on a Monday. My attendance is dependant upon getting a lift to the sports centre involved as it is in another area - and there was no chance of a lift today...

My stepcount for today is 25,648. It is almost midnight.

My stepcount for yesterday was 17,907 - it was just outdoor walking.

My food has been good both days.

Sunday stats:
1492 calories
109.7g protein
2045mg calcium
15.1g fibre
1252mg sodium

Monday stats:
1329 calories
92.7g protein
1511mg calcium
17.8g fibre
1086mg sodium

the biggest flaw is that it is a bit low on fibre - but I am pretty pleased with it just the same...
I find that I do not consistently hit all my targets these days... Maybe I can find the old me that could do that better...

Saturday's stats were not as good. They weren't exactly bad - but the sodium went high. I was shocked when I realised that 2 cups of celeriac had single-handedly added over 1000mg sodium to the stats. The recommendation is to have no more than 2300mg sodium per day - so 2 cups of plain boiled celeriac had taken up almost half a day's allowance...

It has quite put me off buying any more celeriac...

That and you misspelled it. The 'e' comes before the 'r'. Even my spellchecker thinks so. :D

LOL The language that your spell-checker is claiming to use is a version of English. I happen to be English and I simply use the correct version of the spelling as used in England - the home of this language.

I don't trouble myself to go around correcting all the mistakes I see around this forum... I would be busy all day.

:biggrinjester: I couldnt resist commenting on language differences yesterday when I saw a lady announcing that she had bonked at the gym... Some things are just too funny to resist commenting on...

I bonked during my workout

LOL I love the way that people from all over the world are on this forum. Sometimes we really are all divided by a common language... This phrase means something totally different here in England... :smilielol5: :smilielol5: :smilielol5:

19/02/2013 11st4.8 i.e. 158.8 pounds --- at last - another milestone! :hurray:
----- and into the 150s-----------

I finally got rewarded for keeping my sodium low for a couple of days...

I weigh in stones and pounds - but have been hanging around forums for long enough that I really notice the 10 pound milestones too...

Whooooohooooo!! Congrats on another milestone:party: That's sooo awesome!

You are really doing fab girl! Keep going and going.

Thanks Mands - I'm thrilled with this.

I have just posted this in the 150s club:
Well to quote Feb 18 2008
http://weight-loss.fitness.com/threads/13765-Club-150s/page4

I weigh every day - and based on todays weight - I can join the 150s club

My weight wiggles about from day to day so I expect to be hovering between the 150s and 160s for a few days yet while my weight settles at the lower level.

today's weighing is 158.8 so I have got back again...

I got to goal (126) but shot through the 150s when I had two very stressful years.

I'm thrilled to be back.
Its ironic that I do so on virtually the anniversary of when I got here last time.

That certainly would be good motivation to get up and go.

That would be a great business idea actually, except for the illegality and general shadiness of it all. "This isn't one of _those_ places, it's an experimental fitness center."

:iagree: I'll look out for forum postings about a new kind of gym opening up in Phoenix... :rotflmao:

Some people may well find such a gym more enticing...

It all reminds me of the old forum challenges that we used to have here... There was once one where the question was asked as to whether sex could count for challenge exercise points... Kimberly made a hilarious ruling that it could indeed be counted if a heart rate monitor were worn and the heart rate was maintained at fat burning rate... Funnily enough - no-one announced that they had exercised in this manner for challenge points...

LOL - I'm off for 2.5 hours of salsa dancing tonight...
I have no intention whatsoever of bonking while I'm there...

LOL The salsa club that I go to is actually called Salseduce - but it really isnt seedy at all...:Angel_anim:

:hurray: :hurray: :hurray:

Congratulations, Omega!! That's an enormous accomplishment!
I have a feeling you will make a concerted effort to make this the last time you pass the 160 lb. mark.

Great job.

Thanks Don.

I would like to think that I will not gain weight again.

Having said that - I do gain weight incredibly easily and am apt to eat unwisely if things get really stressful.

I maintained goal just fine until things all fell apart two years ago. I know myself well enough to know that if things fell apart in that manner again I would probably do it all again.

I guess that the important thing is that I knew that I had to come back and find a real old fashioned forum challenge to do the work that I knew that I would have to do.

OH what a picture!! Wearing a heart monitor when doing the nasty:rotflmao: my husband would totally like WTH!!!

Omega, you are such an inspiration with your amazing weight loss! I'm exactly the same as you.....if there is a stress trigger that upsets my life I resort to food, actually chocolates, not food.

But I suppose we need to learn to deal with it without the comfort of food.

Let's focus on the now and the great job we are doing with our weight!!
