Omega's journey

I got a new even lower low today on the scales 11st2.6 which is 156.6 pounds. On today's weighing that is over a stone that I have lost since the start of the new project on 2nd January.

I have looked through the challenges and I think that this forum is in need of more challenges... I will probably add some soon...

Again.... your progress this far into the program, is astounding! Keep it up. A lot of people (myself included) really respect and admire (OK, and maybe covet) what you've accomplished.

Depending on what the challenges are, I might be interested in them to keep things colorful.

Thanks for calling by Don, Mands, Justina and Cory and your kind words of support.

I must admit that I have gained a bit today - but it is only to be expected...

The low weight was sure to be VERY short-lived. We went for a meal out with friends at Akbar's. I tried to choose wisely - but it was difficult. Popadoms were ordered for the table with pickles - and I had no more than half one - maybe less. I didnt order a starter or dessert and I didnt eat the chocolate mint that arrived for me...
I checked the menu online beforehand and chose Chicken Tikka & Garlic Balti
(Chicken pieces, marinated in yoghurt, herbs and spices, cooked over charcoal and finally roasted in Balti using all fresh ingredients plus a large helping of garlic). I had half a portion of rice with it and part of a large nan bread that we all shared. I drank only diet coke.

We ate early for us and naturally didnt have our normal supper time treat later of blueberries. I am hoping that some of this gain will be sodium as I have no idea what the sodium levels will be... I know that my body doesnt process bread properly so I shouldnt have had the nan bread but I love it and couldnt resist it sitting in front of me... I would have also been better to avoid the rice...

Hey Omega, it totally sounds like your gain is because of sodium. With your dedication you will down to it soon again!

Don't worry about the Akbar's dinner. You will bounce back quickly.

You are doing soooooo amazing and you are truely inspirational!

Hey Omega, haven't you seen around. Not here or in my diary - you ok? Hope you are smashing that weight loss hun x

Thanks for calling by...

The main thing is that I am still on track - being as controlled as I can with my food and making sure that I hit a heap of targets based not just on calories, but also protein, fibre, calcium, sodium. I am wallking every day and if you count zumba as a form of dance I am dancing 5 days a week for at least 1 hour and often more...

I got a bit side tracked with other things - and ended up having what turned into quite a big argument in another thread - based on a very logical observation. An observation based on precedent in this forum... It appears that some people are very sensitive and fairly paranoid... The biggest surprise lies in the fact that the person was a member of this forum back when all the other challenges that I cited were running...

Still - some people have difficulties with logical observation! As a former computer consultant (who's husband works with computers) - I predictively have difficulties when we veer away from logic...

Justina and Mands - My weight still hasnt come down to the level before that meal despite drinking allocation of water and counting sodium every day since then - so I think that there will have been a "real" gain in it... I am only 0.2 pounds above it so I will hopefully be back before too long.

Mands - I do get sidetracked with other things. I have been running a challenge on another diet forum and that took some time... I am also taking part in a couple of other challenges on 3FC... Also - I try to keep up on FB with lots of people that used to be members here... Yesterday for instance was my old pal Kimberly (BikiniBound here)'s wedding anniversary.

My exercise levels are as high as ever... My food control over the past few days has been ok - but nothing special... I have hit all my healthy targets but not kept my calories as low as I sometimes manage... The calories have been at a level to give me a deficit - but not as big a deficit as I can sometimes get...

Goal2Bhealthy - Welcome to my diary and the forum as a whole... LOL that is the way that language progresses... I guess that it is on a par with why are good things referred to by some people as bad?

LOL I still can't get over people saying that they "bonked at the gym"... :biggrinjester:

Thanks for the Welcome, Omega. I started reading your diary when I saw the date you started and that it was still continuing on, and I was so amazed that you had continued posting it faithfully for so long. I started at the beginning, but after reading for a while I realized I had only read a month or two. So then I switched to the end and started reading backwards. It's like reading the last chapter of a book first, to see how it ended. LOL You have lost so much weight and changed your body with healthy eating and so much exercise, in the rain and the snow...WOW! I did get back as far as the first of the year when you started posting again after a long break, and how you just got right back to it! It's mind boggling. You have done a great job of explaining how you lost your weight and the changes you have made to tweak it and make it work for you. You are really an inspiration and I applaud you! I look forward to watching you continue on and get back to your goal!

Thanks for the lovely compliments Goal2Bhealthy.

Since you have been reading about my big project you may be interested in seeing the pictures... I post in the weigh every day club - and another club member asked for us to show pictures... You can see some from the big project here...

Wow!! Your transformation is amazing, Omega! You look great. I showed your pics to my oldest daughter (19) and she was amazed and said the same. As I've said before, you serve as a great example for others to follow on how eating right, exercising and healthy living can change one's life.

It is amazing that you have made such a big change, Omega! You don't look like the same person. You must feel so much better now! I want to do that, too, but I have a hard time sticking to a program for any length of time. You had to be really determined. I was particularly interested in the way you cut back on Diet Coke and increased your water by not allowing yourself the Diet Coke until after you had consumed a certain amount of water. I am also addicted to Diet Coke but after a recent surgery I didn't crave it as much and now I only have it occasionally. But I need to use your system to wean myself off coffee. When I was working, I used to have a half cup of coffee in the morning and that was it. Now that I'm retired, I've developed a very bad coffee habit. Several cups a day. Now, when I reach for coffee, I will think of you and grab a bottle of water instead!

Thanks for visiting.

MrVee - Oh my goodness - you knew that it was you... paranoid and psychic. Can you read my mind all the time? This paranoia is catching - I'm getting it now...

Don and Goal2Bhealthy - Thanks for the lovely compliments. Now you know why I had to address things when I realised that I was officially "obese" again. I can become very big very quickly and I really didnt want to undo ALL that work. I would dearly like to knock my weight back down in the next few months - but realistically I cannot help but remember that the last 2 stone (28 pounds) took me ages the last time round...

LOL I am doing that water / diet cola thing now... I didnt do it last year when I was slacking off - but am back doing it now... Measure out the right amount of water and plough your way through it.

Well I have a couple of interesting things to mention in my diary that have happened this week.

I got weighed this morning and got a particularly nice new low... I got on the scales and it said 10 stone 13.8 pounds. We weigh in stones and pounds and there are 14 pounds in a stone. That multiplies up to 153.8 pounds.

The significant thing about that weight is that it is a milestone in that it is the first weighing under 11 stone since before the house move. I certainly prefer a weight that starts with 10 to a weight that starts with 11.

My goal weight is 9 stone and the zone that I failed to maintain was from 9 stone to 9 stone 3...

It means that I am less than 2 stone from my goal.

===

The other thing which I will mention in my diary is that I have been asked to be a moderator at this forum.

LOL I deleted off a couple of spammers yesterday - but I am beginning to think that I have frightened them off as I havent seen any so far today... LOL I was seeing them everywhere until I got the extra powers...

LOL I moved a few irritating threads that were in the wrong sections and had no replies... They look much tider... It is funny - I just said a week or two ago that it was probably lucky that I am not a mod here or I would be moving threads about. OCD rules :)

A moderator? No more Geordie accent jokes from me, or else it's banhammer city for me.

LOL - no need to worry... Just as long as you don't start spamming a lovely website where you will happily sell slimming pills over the internet... If you do that you will be out the door before you can blink...

Congratulations Omega, I just decided to catch up with your diary & saw the good news! You deserve the power as you sure put in the hard work & time to support others. You're well on the way to getting back to where you want to be. Cheers xo Cate
