Omega's journey

Hi Margaret,

I don't have an awful MIL but aunt-in-law. She helped talk husband out of marrying me 8 days before we were supposed to get married. I still have a dress I have never worn. Not content with just this her last comment to me before we left was 'when the lust wears of there'll be nothing left.'

I will never forget it. And 10 years on she still makes me feel like crap. Like this christmas leaving the day before my birthday because heaven forbid a day was about me being special.

She is asleep in the room 3 doors down as I type.

And sorry, but I can sooooo relate. Oh, and hubby and I also got engaged after 5 weeks so we share that as well.

Frankie

The thing is that our sleep patterns can get disrupted and it can be really tricky to get them back on track if things go wrong. Also, the fact is that you feel really rotten if you get really tired but for any reason cannot get to sleep.

that is soo happenin to me. I had a really bad day yesterday!! i had agud sob to my mum nd she kept telling me its because i'm not sleepin thats y i feel lyk i du. and guess wot none of them things i was bodered about yday are bodering me anymore. its strange how much sleep and food affects our lifes.

hope you had a good day.

;-)

Thanks for visiting my diary. It's always lovely to hear from you.

Kimberly

I think that I will get drenched quite regularly this winter. There is something about English weather - it rains a lot.

Frankie

Your AIL sounds horrible. She doesnt have a cousin called Vera in London does she?

Be delighted to be rid of her before your birthday - she would only marr your enjoyment. If she is asleep - surely now would be a good time to catch up on your vacuuming - cleanliness is next to godliness and it is nice to have a tidy clean house if you have visitors.

In all honesty you are a saint to consider allowing an AIL with that track record to come and stay at all. I would not!

And as for a quick engagement - if you both feel that things are right - why wait? And you must remember to keep checking how the lust is enduring so that you can give her little updates since she is so interested.

And I hope that it doesnt make you feel worse - but hubby and I have been together 23 years and she is still as bad as ever. I do not expect any changes to her temperament.

Angel

I have had quite a good day thanks. At least I got all my walks in. My pedometer decided to tell lies to me and told me that I had only done 5.5 miles this morning when I know that I had done 6.3 miles. I do it often enough. I think that my clothes got bunched up under my jacket. It still is up to a decent level though because I had to go to Tescos and get the shopping in.

I am sorry that you are having difficulty sleeping. Try one of the following as they may help you get to sleep.
- drink warm milk not long before bedtime
- a turkey (or chicken) sandwich not long before bedtime. There are some good things in the turkey and the bread for aiding sleep.
- burn oils
- if you can get someone to give you a massage that can help
- yoga meditation

If you dont get enough sleep it can really spoil the whole day. I hope that you sleep well.

Take care
Love
Margaret

I am pleased that you like the creaming regime. I certainly think that it is a good idea. We would all like our skins to remain in as good a condition as possible and we are asking a lot of it if we are hoping that it will shrink again as we lose the pounds.

We deserve to have lovely skin both at our current shape / size - and at the shape / size that we aspire towards.

I would certainly be creaming and massaging all the areas that concern you if I were you. All it costs is your time and the price of a little bit of cream. Most creams / oils are very similar so supermarket own brands will probably work pretty well. I actually think that the most important factor is the act of massaging.

I certainly have stretch marks (mainly acquired many years ago when I was on the way up) - thankfully they are clear coloured so not too obvious. I also certainly have some loose skin - but I think that it is not as much loose skin as I deserve to have at this stage of the project. Naturally with rolls of fat still to be dealt with there is plenty of scope for acquiring more loose skin as the project continues.

My daily creaming is as follows:
daytime moisturiser and vaseline lips
2 bio-oil 5 minute massages to abdomen - but I seem to be often just doing one of these most days
Massage thighs with body lotion. I rub body lotion using sweeping up and down movements 140 times up and down
Massage bum with body lotion - both hands one on each cheek - 70 times up and down
Massage upper arms with body lotion - 70 times up and down
Massage each breast with body lotion
Night-time moisturiser and vaseline lips

If you have dark stretch marks they can be turned into the clear ones that are not so obvious by laser treatment.

Since you mention feet:
I do not cream my feet every day - I tend to be in for the evening when I do.
I soak my feet in a bowl of warm water with soda crystals.
If there are hard skin areas I give them a little gentle scrape.
I cream with a foot repair cream
I then wear white socks for the rest of the day

People say that you cannot use exercise to target the areas that we would most like to reduce first. I am inclined to think that massage may be able to direct things a little.

I credit my moisturising with the fact that I lost my double chin while some people who are taller than me and weigh less than me are still complaining about theirs. I was very happy to see mine go.

Janice

I know that you will sort out that pound soon. I have put a note in your diary about the joy of plateaus.

Angel

7000 steps was good for you during a busy day.
No wonder you are tired. I think that you were up until 4 am working on that college assignment. And it wasnt the first time this week.

I know that I will be wasting my time and sounding incredibly old if I mention that these things could be scheduled into the day and allowing you to get a regular good night of sleep. I know that I didnt do that when I was your age - but it honestly would be a good idea. One of those dont do what I did but do what I say moments......

Kimberly

I was stunned that he had never been away from London. But you have to remember that in London you can drive all day and still be in London. Of course you may be going round in circles and the traffic may be jammed.:D

His mother had a very odd idea about the rest of the country. She actually asked me about a month before the wedding if there were shoe shops in Newcastle! I very nearly said "no - that is why we all walk around barefoot".

Some people have a love/hate relationship. I have always had a loath/hate relationship with my mother in law. When she was told that we had got engaged her comment to her son was "couldnt you find a nice girl instead".

Despite the rain - I think that my germs are still in retreat. I really swear by echinacea. I hope that your germs beat a hasty retreat soon.

Take care

Actually I read an article that said you can target muscle on your legs and butt when you walk, by different strides and different way you can walk ...
so I focus on my walking and make sure I use my butt and certain parts of my legs ..the ones that need the most work ..my hips automatically get a work out ...
I make sure I make large strides but tighten my butt when my legs hit behind me ...

You can target some areas I believe, it seems to work for me :)
I will start a creaming regime.. I think you have a good idea .. :driving:

thanks for your advice

Hi Natalie Jo

That is interesting about altering the way you walk slightly to burn fat in key areas. I must admit that the funniest thing about me walking off the fat was the way that I lost tons of weight off my left leg before any started coming off my right leg. They were very odd for a time - but did even up in the end.

You mention having a bat wings problem. Mine are a lot better than they were. After I lost about 50 pounds - by that stage I was doing quite a lot of walking every day, one of my friends suggested hand or wrist weights. She said that there were key exercises that you could do - but the most important thing was to have some weights on your arms regularly. Basically all I did was put on wrist weights for one of my shorter walks each day and swing my arms. If you want to turn it into bicep curls all you really do is have your palm forward when you swing your arms. I currently do about 2 miles each day with the wrist weights - but between that and the massage my bat wings are looking pretty good. In fact probably better than most 48 year olds.

Happy creaming!

Take care:seeya:

Have A Great Sunday.

Hey Margaret,

Your comments re AIL made me laugh out loud - thanks for that!!!

She is gone now, until the 23rd. And you are right, she would marr my birthday. And I do think, like you, there will be no change in 23 years.

Hope the weather clears up for you this week. As I hope it does here for me.

Love,
Frankie

Thanks for visiting my diary and continuing to be so supportive.

I must admit I was delighted when I weighed myself this morning. I even shouted down and made hubby come upstairs to see the numbers on the scales. I expect it to wiggle back up again - but for today at least it is the first time under 12 and a half stone. Another milestone event - oh how I love them. OK so it is 12 st 6.8 lbs (174.8 pounds) so only a fifth of a pound under - but that is enough to say that for today at least I got there.

I really love weighing myself on the mornings after we have had salmon for our evening meal. My weight almost always comes down.

Drenched again today - oh the fun I do have.

I hope that you have a great Sunday too.

Frankie

It looks like we acquired a pair of kindred spirits. Lucky us!

All I can say is ignore her as much as possible. Think tranquil thoughts. Have fantasies about a planet without certain people. And if you can move abroad next month it may be a good idea. If possible try not to let her know where you have gone - just that you have left the country.

Lets hope the rain goes away for both our many long walks in the days to come. I know that it is heading into winter here - but it might make you feel a bit better to know that we get a decent amount of rain in the summer here too.

Take care:seeya:

Thanks Angel and Sarah for visiting. I love having visitors.

Is Angel saying that English men are big drips???!!!

There are one or two nice ones - just keep looking until you find one.

The good thing about walking in the rain is that it is free.

The diary I keep in word and update it as the day progresses - then when I get the last bits in place (pedometer readings after midnight) - I copy and paste it across. Then I change the characters a different colour so I can see what I have updated the next day.

Take care

WooHoo!! You're under 175lbs already--fantastic job. Walking in the rain appears to have its payoffs, eh? :D

So now that hubby has asked you to stop posting his food, is he going back to his old eating habits? Or is he just a bit shy about us all knowing what he eats? :sifone:

Hi Kimberly

Well walking certainly has payoffs - but it seems to have as many in good weather as in rain. I suppose that I am too frightened to see what happens if I stop!!! We all have our demons!

As for the weight - I am hovering there or thereabouts. Yesterday was 12 st 6.8 lbs (174.8 pounds) - a new low, today is 12 st 7.6 lbs (175.6 pounds). These things often wiggle about a little.

I must admit to being pretty pleased about the trend - as you must be with your string of new lows.

Hubby is certainly a little shy - and I suspect that he feels that I am being critical when I announce him having a whole vienetta etc but I see no point in just telling when he is saintly. Yesterday he had pretty much the same main meal as me with 3 little roast potatoes which is not really excessive at all. His main sin of the day was humus and pitta bread. Today he actually walked round the block with me as he got in from work. I was pleased as it is not too inviting in the dark and cold. Thankfully it was not even drizzling then (or I am sure he would not have gone).

Take care
Love
Margaret

HI Margaret
Marvelous to see you continue to drop those pounds!!! If anyone deserves it, it is you, my friend.

I continue to sweat it out on my ancient, rickety treadmill, but I do trust it will pay off soon!

cheers
