Omega's journey

Thanks for visiting. It is lovely to see you here. It would be great if we all lived closer together.

Janice

I wish that I was as near to goal as you are. I still have about 3 stone to go and have a huge spare tyre around my tummy. My waist is a really odd shape which confuses me too!

I will review my goal when I get nearer but I can see the roll of fat that says that I need to lose 2 stone anyway before I try and judge whether I need to lose more or less than 1 further stone from there.

I do a lot of walking - but I dont limit myself to just that. I signed up for classes which in turn contained aerobics which caused me to remember how much I loved dancing when I was young. I used to adore dancing right up until I met hubby.

As I see it - we all encourage each other here. I appreciate all the support and encouragement that I get too.

Kimberly

The stupid thing is - it isnt a dangerous area where we live at all. Nowhere is as safe as that same place was thirty to forty years ago - but that does not mean that somewhere that was totally tame then is not pretty tame now by anyone's standards. I always remember twenty years ago when we first moved to this house being stunned because hubby had dropped a chequebook on the pavement outside the house and it was still there the next day. Now - I do not think that would be the case now. In fact I think that it was very lucky to be the case then. In all honesty - I suspect that the areas that I went to as a teen were more dangerous then than round here is now.

I think that hubby just likes me at home with him and he does not want to go to a gym himself. I would be complaining if he did not want to spend time in my company.

It is really great that your hubby is very supportive too.

The daytime classes thing seemed strange to me too. That is why I took the trouble to find out who the manager was and seek her out. They want to do more classes and are in negotiation with the school (but have been for years so are not optimistic about any great changes in the near future) - but the school do not want it to happen. The sad thing is that the school hardly uses the aerobics hall. There are days when the school does not use it at all. I do my daytime classes at the Adult Education Centre (which is 10 to 15 minutes walk away from the Leisure Centre) and the classes that I do are running with maximum attendance. If you do not sign up for them early you do not get in to them because they are full. I have already checked what date enrolment starts for the term after Easter so that I can sign up for my Friday class. This demonstrates that there would definitely be a market in the local community if they offered such classes. The Leisure Centre Manager is very much aware of this market opportunity.

I love doing the aerobics and would definitely plan on keeping on my Friday keep fit class for that. I will try out the water aerobics with one of these free vouchers and see how I like it. I tried buying a bathing costume yesterday but Tescos didnt have anything suitable. I tried on the smallest one in the house and it was UK size 26. Fortunately the fabric meant that it did not look as big as you would expect and would probably be ok for me to wear for one session. I am currently wearing UK size 16 and have just bought some UK size 14 jogging pants (elasticated waist of course - I am nowhere near a size 14 waist) that fit fine with a t shirt over - without it they emphasize the odd shape of my waist more than I would like. They are perfectly comfortable and are less baggy around my legs and waist than the size 16s.

Take care
Love

It didn’t rain.

General Data:

Morning walk = 6.3 miles
Round the block = 6 times
Extra exercises = none
Weight = 11st 8.6lbs (i.e. 162.6 pounds)
Steps = 25,920
Distance = 10.02 miles
Remembered to take normal vitamin / supplements
Continued my creaming regime – missed one bio-oil massage.
Continued ankle exercises

My Food / Drink:

Challenge requires that I drink sufficient water.

Calculation (allow extra for weight to wiggle up during the week not that I want it to go that high)
168/2 = 84 * 29.5735 = 2484.174 ml = 2.49 litres
So 2.5 litres of water covers me.

1 banana
3 weetabix, sweetener, 350 ml skimmed milk
1 large handful honey Shreddies
1 large handful honey Shreddies
150 ml crumbed ham
Roast chicken, swede, carrot, parsnip, cauliflower, broccoli, onion, gravy
½ large handfuls of raisins

Hi margaret,

Thank you so much for your post, and to your husband too! I'm really pleased with myself, especially about the birthday thing. You have been really supportive and insparational over these past few weeks - im sure that joining this forum has really helpped me to lose weight. My next goal is 13s8lb, which is a weight I havent been since I was 12! terrible but im so glad im now well on my way to being under it.

I hope eveything is going well for you, good luck with the challenge this week, although im sure drinking enough water won't be too difficult for you as I know you have said you drink plenty anyway!

Speak to you soon

Is that 162.6 a new low?? If so, congrats! :hurray:

I think you are built a little similarly to me. My worst area is my stomach. I lost a lot more inches in my hips and thighs, but not so much in my waist--which needs to lose it worst of all. I am in a US16-18, but only because of my waist. I could fit into a 14-16 with an elastic waist.

When is your water aerobics class? That sounds like fun. :) I think the stretchy material that bathing suits are made out of is why you didn't swim right out of that larger size. :D

My new listing is up on the internet, but the virtual tour won't be up for a few days. Once it is, I'll PM you the link, so you can see what 150,000 pounds will buy you in my neck of the woods. :D My keyboard doesn't have the pound sign, and that annoys me. :D

Have a great Wednesday!

Thanks for visiting. As always it is lovely to see you here.

Becky

Everything is going fine for me thanks - I have had my little weight loss surge and things seem to be steadying for my "cannot lose to save my life" part of the month. Naturally (like everyone) I would prefer it if I lost a nice steady chunk of weight every week - but that really isnt realistic this deep into a long term project.

I am so proud of how well your weight loss is going. It is only a few weeks since you thought that your birthday goal of 14 and a half stone was beyond reach because of Christmas. You have stuck at it and you are just over 14 stone ready for your birthday. I do hope that you have a brilliant 19th birthday. You are at such a nice age for enjoying birthday celebrations.

In a few weeks time you will get to your next milestone (and it will be absolutely brilliant getting to a size that you havent been since you were 12!) At this rate I have absolutely no doubt that you will have the figure of your dreams by the time your course starts in September. Your new college friends will never guess that you have been as cuddly!

Kimberly

Yes - 162.6 was a new low. Thanks for your congratulations. Unfortunatly it seems to have been the last of my lows as I am up a little from there. Still - this is in the nature of new lows and the way that weight loss wiggles for those of us that weigh every day.

I will try out one of the evening water aerobics classes - but hubby has said that it is definitely a "one-off" and he insists on driving me there and back. There is one on a Thursday night and one on a Monday night - so I will discuss with hubby which he prefers me to go to.

My waist is really odd. It looks fine from the front and back and terrible from the side or looking down. My waist (for being so odd) and my boobs (for being like big empty bags of skin) are the bits that I like least about my new body. I suppose that you cannot expect to take the weight of a normal person out of a body and not expect any oddness in the outcome! Thank God for clothes and the fact that it is only hubby that sees me without them is all that I can say on the subject!

I'll be intrigued to see your new listing.

I hope that you have a great Wednesday too.

Janice

I raced straight over to look at your diary. The photo is absolutely brilliant. I thought that you had looked so good on the previous photo but there is definitely a major improvement. You could honestly stop trying to lose weight now - no-one could say that you were even overweight when you look like that. It just goes to show how silly the BMI is.

Take care

Hi [Focus]

Welcome to my diary.

I do admit to being fairly repetitive......
It is easier for me to stick to something that works (that gives me a healthy balanced diet, lots of snacks to nibble and enough exercise to erode the fat away) than change things about for changes sake if I am quite happy to stick with things as they are.

Best wishes
Margaret

There was no criticism intended there. I was simply expressing my admiration for your consistency.

Why fix what's already working like a finely crafted machine? ;)

HI

Wow i dont pop in for a few days and you have walked off yet more weight been told your in tip top condition you must be sooooo pleased

I wish i was more conistant like you i have very varied days sometimes but i get bored easily with eating the same thing

Congrats on how well you are doing
Sarah

You know as well as I do that the slight gain on the scale is just par for the course. :)

So, it sounds to me like hubby might be a bit jealous and maybe worried that you're not going to water aerobics, but maybe meeting some guy on the sly now that you've lost so much weight and he hasn't. :D That or he's just overprotective. Either way, I would find it slightly annoying if my H started telling me what I could and couldn't do occasionally with my evenings, as would he if I tried it on him.

Glad it didn't rain for your walk today! When you read my diary next, you'll be thankful you're not in my neck of the woods atm. :biggrinjester:

Hey there Margerett,
Congrats  on a new low,I am busting butt myself
to see a new low myself!! I saw 175 once back in june and then before
that high school lol so to see 174 I would faint hahaha..
Have ou posted any new pics since you hit 160's if so I would love
to check em out! Have a nice day Tammy

Good Morning Margaret~
Glad to hear that things are going well for you still. What a bummer about not having any daytime classes to attend. We don't really have any at our YMCA either. Probably most likely due to the fact that most of the people who would do those classes would be working in the middle of the day. Including the instructors.
I don't teach a water aerobics class but have seen one in action. I think that you will really enjoy it when you go.
Hopefully hubby will understand how much it means to you and concede on the point of wanting you home at night.
But I can understand how you feel about respecting his feelings. If my hubby had said that he did not want me to take the Fit for Life class I would not have. He actually had to think about it for a bit. As it now puts me at the YMCA 4 nights a week taking classes. I did tell him that after this session is over that I would choose just one class and then just switch back and forth between the 2 every other session. That way I am not gone 4 nights in a row.
Hope that you had good weather for your walks.
Oh and as a funny side note............I have started to eat raisins on a daily basis. Figured if it would work for you it could surely work for me! LOL
Have a great day!

Thanks for visiting me everyone. I am so lucky getting you all come and see me here.

[Focus]

Thanks for the admiration. In fact the truth is that I am a creature of habit and it is actually much easier for me to be consistent in anything than change things about all the time. That is not to say that every morning I really want to go out and do a long walk - just that I have come to the conclusion that if I do I improve my chances of getting as much weight loss as my body is prepared to give me.

Sarah

I must admit that I have taken to muttering "tip top shape" every now and again. I never thought that I would hear a fitness professional use terms like that to describe me. There is certainly much room for improvement - but it is nice to know that I am not unhealthy.

Kimberly

My weight is back up to where it was over a week ago (nicely in time to give me negative weight points for the challenge). I must remember to campaign before the next challenge for you to allow us to use any weight from Monday to Friday since clearly Thurs/Fri weight is just too restrictive for me!!! :biggrinjester: I know that it will be just water weight because I have eaten nothing silly and the week where I always gain or if I am lucky stand still is due just about now.

I dont think that hubby has any concerns about me looking to replace him. We always say - better the devil you know! We have got used to each others ways and I dont think that I could cope with training someone else up for twenty years. It is true that hubby is inclined to be over-protective - but that is nicer than a lack of concern.

I had a quick look in your diary it certainly sounds like you are getting worse weather than me. It helps make up for us not living in the lovely spacious houses that you seem to all live in.

Tammy

I just know that you will be seeing that 175 again very very soon and it will be no time before you are at 174 and thinking "I knew I could do it". Just stay focused and continue being good with your food and doing lots of exercise. You have achieved a lot and when you think of all the weight that you have lost - why should another 3 pounds be so difficult for you. You will feel so good. I havent posted any new pics because I havent had any taken - but I will definitely do so soon. I keep putting it off - but I definitely will get hubby to take a photo soon. I will let you know when I get around to getting it done.

Dawn

I shouldnt complain about the weather as it seems that we do get a lot better weather than you do. It did however rain this morning (Thursday) and it was heavy enough for me to change out of my wet clothes when I got home from my long walk - but thankfully it was not raining in the afternoon.

I am pretty sure that there would be a market for some daytime classes - because the daytime classes at the adult education centre that I do are all fully subscribed. I tried to my Friday class last term and couldnt get in because the class was full. I booked this term very early and basically ousted someone from the class.

Your hubby is very understanding - agreeing to you going out four nights a week.

I hope that you are enjoying the raisins.

Take care
Love
Margaret

Yes, Bella, I'm wondering how those raisins are working for you. I might just have to start eating them myself. :D

Margaret, I could see your hubby being annoyed if you were gone 4 nights a week, but I would think one night a week wouldn't be so horrible if it's something your really enjoy and want to do.

I can assure you that I don't live in a big house. Ours is about 11sqm--3BR, 1BA. We do have a full basement that is as big as the main level, but it's unfinished and only used for laundry and storage--but at least we have no storage isssues. I would kill for a 2nd bathroom, though. It seems like someone is always in it whenever I need to use it--especially this week when I'm drinking so much water. <--that's me doing the pee dance while waiting outside the bathroom. :biggrinjester:

Hi Margaret,

Just wanted to let you know Im back...hope ull keep dropping by my diary the way u used to. Congrats on the wonderful progress. You are truly an inspiring woman!

Love,

Sam

Thanks for visiting.

Kimberly

You have caused bathroom queues around the world this week. I am sure that realisation must make you proud.

It must be lovely to live in a house with no storage issues. We have too many boxes from when we moved back here. And I am more interested in going out walking than in sorting out boxes. Maybe when I get to the weight that I want to be - I will find the time to rationalise our posessions. We need to get rid of a lot of stuff.

Sam

It is so nice to see you back. You are so sweet. I have popped into your diary and left you a note there.

Take care
