OK, RNWoman...you've got me all interested in this low carb thing now. I'll probably be on google all night now. lol

The thing that has me freaked out is that it says if you go back to eating your typical carb intake you'll gain it all back. What I was doing to get to this point was to make sure I was buring more energy than I was taking in. So, I guess that was the low cal thing right or maybe it's considered more of a balancing act, not sure what its "technically considered." I digress...my point is if I switch now and then decide to stop the low carb way of eating will I gain back EVERYTHING I've lost -including the 14.5 I lost prior to low carb plus that I lost during low carb or just that I lost after starting the low carb lifestyle? My fear is messing up all the hard work I've put in.
 
OHD! How are ya???? Hey i have a friend that lost all her weight on low carb. But she sayes it's unhealthy so when she lost it she gradually put carbs back into her diet and kept it low cal. She's had it off for 3 yrs. now and not gained back. She even has had a baby since then. Whatever you want to do!! LOL Don't mind me I've got a story for everything!! Have a great day!!:D
 
If you're going to do low carb - south beach has a better reputation for being healthier than atkins and DO read the book before doing it - i personally coulddn't stand it... processed sugars should be eliminated but i wouldn't want to live without bread and pasta
 
whole wheat pasta tastes pretty good- ronzoni's healthy harvest or barilla - in the penne are my two favorites and they are heaped with fiber.. I hate that it'sso many calories but it's really good once in a while
 
I love Healthy Harvest whole wheat pasta. It's delicious! My kids love the rotini...with a little I Can't Believe It's Not Butter(we use light now), fair amount of granulated garlic, and some parmesan cheese. YUMMMMMM! :D

The first 2 weeks of the Dr. Phil weight loss solution is VERY low carb(which is why you're not supposed to stay on it). Now we have added more healthy carbs back and it's continuing to go great! NOTHING compared to all the carbs I used to eat *gag*!
 
That's all we ever buy anymore..the whole wheat! It does taste REALLY good... I'm about to go for about a 4 mile walk for lunch... then eat while I work! All this talk of food is making me hungry!

And as for the Ronzoni Healthy Harvest whole wheat pasta...OMG I LOVE it and so does my daughter. *drools* Had some just earlier this week, we love all of their pastas! And I see my daughter and I aren't the only two!

I don't know if I could really pull off the low carb diet....I have fallen in love with bread (whole wheat) and I NEVER thought I'd say that about bread and the pastas too. I swear they both taste better than white bread/pastas...FAR better IMO. I was going to buy a book about it this weekend, when I picked up YOU: On a diet (which I've decided to buy in ebook form from erearder today instead of B&N). I'm going to research it more, but I'm afraid it might be a bit much for me.

I think I posted in RNWoman's diary, if I had never switched to whole wheat bread and pastas I'd be able to do low carb w/no problem b/c I hardly ever ate them before. I was a meat eater b/c it was easier. Throw it in the oven or on the grill, didn't have to watch it much and it filled me up. Oh well, those days are over.

You know I amaze myself when I look back at how I used to eat and the changes I've made...and the thing is I HONESTLY love the food I eat now. I've grown to see my body as a temple and that really helps me to live differently, not just eat differently. This whole process has really been an eye opener for me and I just want to thank you all for helping me realize that this isn't as much about the number on the scale as it is about a better quality of life. Thank you all so much!...sorry, I realize this started off about low carb and I went off on a tangent. :eek: :p

Ok...I'm done now. Gonna go check out some diaries... I lost my internet connection last night as I was attempting to go see what Star said in diaries. :D :D Guess I'll go find out now. D*#&@ Roadrunner internet is getting on my LAST nerve. :D

OH, almost forgot... I've done 12 minutes of exercise thus far. I did 5 minutes of strength training, followed by 5 minutes of cardio and 2 minutes of stretching. Trying to spread it out over the day, so I did that when I got up and plan to do the other 18 minutes (or more) this evening. It doesn't sound like much but I was sweating. I did squats and lunges for 5 minutes straight, I didn't count how many just keep going until the timer went off...but whew it got me sweating. Then I did 2.5 minutes of jump and jacks and 2.5 minutes of oblique twists standing, and ended with 2 minutes of pilates stretching. Gonna cut and paste this into the challenge thread...too lazy to retype this but I just had to tell y'all. lol OK..gone for real this time. :p
 
That is GREAT news OHD... GJ on your exercise! I don't even want to think about how I used to eat... being that I had to eat over 3390 calories to gain weight.... thats... INSANE. It is a lifestyle change... complete and totally... and unless you realize that...and that it's NOT about just the numbers on the scale... you gain it all back! in spades! This board is helping my wife and I as well! Good Job!
 
You're so right SaturdaySaint! Once you realize that it makes this whole process a bit easier and it made me more honest. Whenever I make a change I ask myself, "Can you do this for the rest of your life?" If not I don't kid myself. It keeps me from falling prey to fads. When things look attractive to me, with the promises and all I make sure I research it well before starting...so I can see if it can really fit into my life. It's tough not to get caught up sometimes, but I've learned that its worth it.

Fasting

Blah blah blah blah blah... Never worked! I really could have messed my body up!
