Nothing tastes as good as fit feels!!

I spent some time over the last few days really reading through some of the diaries and other posts on this site. I feel I have gained a wealth of great information.

I have continued my walking each day, and have cut out alot of the junk I had been eating. I not only lost 2 pounds so far, but I feel more energetic too.

I'm not a big veggie fan, (except I love cucumbers), so I found mixing salads with my pasta or stew made it easier for me to consume larger amounts of the veggies.

I treated myself to a vanilla latte today, but made with soy milk, not dairy...it was sooooo yummy!!

Anyhow, I am very excited to continue my proress this week, and hopefully fit into my size 12 jeans by the end of the month.

Good luck with the weight loss and kidney donation. The earlier the donation the more chances its sucessful. My brothers on dialisys every couple of hours or alternativly overnight (he usually just has it on all night every night so he can work during the day).

My only wait right now is the hospital to do the last test and psych evaluation/councilling thing.

Good job on the loss! This site has so many inspiring stories on here. I'm always reading up to get new strategies or ideas on how to lose weight and be healthy in general. Keep it up!

I went to the gym yesterday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
First time back in over 15 months. I'm so proud of myself. I only did cardio on the treadmill, bike and eliptical machines. There was an abs class starting when we got there, but I was thinking "I'm not ready for that yet", lol.

I ate:

breakfast
small bowl oatmeal
green tea
apple

snack
cheddar cheese
apple
coffee

lunch

peice fish
cup cellery
water
green tea

snack
apple
cheddar cheese
peice carrot cake (ugh)
water

dinner
large salad
cup chineese noodles
0 cal peach drink
water

Considering how I've been eating and how inactive I've been over the past year and a half, today was a 10/10!!!!!!!!

Definitely a 10/10 today! Excellent job getting to the gym. Who's your workout partner? Is it a friend and are yall doing the same things together or just do your own thing once you get to the gym? I really wish I had a workout partner to motivate me over to the gym.

As for veggies, I always thought I hated them too. Just over the past few weeks I started eating them sauteed in about 1/2 to 1 teaspoon olive oil in a nonstick pan. Mmmm, they honestly taste yummy in that oil. I know its a few extra calories but olive oil is really healthy and its gotta taste good or the veggies aren't happening anyway. I've been frying up shiitake mushrooms, fresh green beans, zucchini and yellow squash. I grate a small bit of fresh parmesan on top and oh it is really yummy..you'd be surprised.

Thanks for the words of encouragement!!
My workout partner is a co-worker of mine. Luckily every 2nd week we finish work at the same time so can go to the gym right after work.
The gym is a 2 min walk from the school we work at, and we keep eachother accountable.
For now our workouts are pretty much the same. We are both focussing on doing cardio. This is her first time evre going to the gym though, and I've been going on and off for years.

After I loose some of this weight I will begin to include weight training as well, to tone my muscles.

I was watching THE BIGGEST LOSER on tv the other night and I'm amazed at how much weight thoses contestants can lose in 1 week. I thought it was unhealthy to lose so much weight so quickly???

I was also thinking that althought the cotestants weight loss is a motivation for some people, it is really unrealistic for most to lose that much weight in a week. It can be discouraging for those of us who lose 1-2 pounds a week.

Also, I saw during the work outs with the trainers, some of the contestants were not using propper form during thier training with weights.

Just my thoughts..........

I am soooooo exhausted.
...and that's a good thing, lol. I went to the gym and spent 1/2 hour on the eliptical machine, 10 mis on the bike, hahaha, (I like cycling but those stationary machines hurt more for some reason), and 20 mins speedwalking on the treadmill. I also went for a walk on my lunch break.

Last night I ate half of a medium pizza, boo hoo, but today I had egg salad and whole wheat pita for breakfast. A large salad for lunch, 3 large cups of herbal tea (no sugar or cream), and about 10 cups of water. I missed dinner, may have a salad and apple sauce later.

Today was a 10/10 day!!!!!!!

Yay for a 10/10 day!! That's awesome! I think you're doing a very good job for just getting started. Don't get yourself down for having slip ups. Just start over again.

I don't think it's safe to lose weight as quickly as they do on Biggest Loser either. That just doesn't seem right to me at all.

Well, I think that you're doing a great job. Especially since you're going to the gym! I've heard that water aerobics is really fun and a good way to start exercising.

Have a great day!

Thanks for the props 'lovingep'!

This is the first time in a few years that I have stuck to making healthier lifestyle choices. I'm vey happy with the progress so far.

I've been doing 10-15 mins of stretching every morning and every night, this makes me feal alot longer and leaner, not to mention I don't have any more aches and pains throughout the day.

Yesterday I ate:
3 rice cakes with chunky peanut butter for brunch
2 bowls of cream of broccoli soup (made with water, no cream), for dinner
a can of water chestnuts for a snack
2 green tea
lots of water

I didn't do any exercise.

Today I ate:
2 eggs w ketchup
1/2 apple sauce
2 green tea
(plan on a salad, rice cakes for lunch, and the rest of my soup for dinner)

I went to the gym this morning. Did some light weights for my lower body.
And attempted 20 mins of HIIT on the treadmill in mountain climb mode. I walked to the gym and back. 20 mins each way.

Another 10/10 day so far!!!!:hurray::hurray:

I eat my eggs that way too! My boyfriend always teases me and says I am ruining them! :)

Congrats on your 10/10 days! You're doing awesome!!

Thanks alot!!

It's funny, I've always liked puttting ketchup on most of my food. When I was a kid my dad would complain about how I'm ruining the food he cooked by putting rotten tomato's on it.

I'm also starting to worry about excess skin after weight loss. I never thought about it before, but have been reading about how some members here are having problems with it after they lose the weight.

I have been applying cream to my body after each shower, I don't know if this will help, but I hope so.

biggest loser

I watch the biggest lower as well and i have become obsessed with that show. I find it motivating as well as a good way to get some quick tips. like i saw how they had one guy carry weights while walking on the treadmill. Apparantly when walking on the treadmill in order to get the most out of ur work out u should not hold on to the sides, which is something i did and had no idea was making a difference. But I wanted to answer your question about how they loose so much weight so fast. they are monitered by doctors and they work out for like 2 hours 2 times a day. which for most normal people like us, is impossible, so dont get discouraged, 2 lbs is a great start! and just look those were days when u were rating urself a 3, imagine what will happen when u have several days as a 10/10! the weight will just melt off. Also, the heavier you are the more weight u loose fast. also depending on how active you were before depends on how much more you need to push urself now. so keep up the good work!

They work out for far more than 2 hours a day , more like 4-6 hours a day.

Skin is always a problem, but apparently a lot of it resolves itself within a year or two (like a pregnant womans belly goes away). If you're older and lost a lot more weight there are a few more problems that sometimes need surger. I think the worst part is waiting the year or two to see what goes and what doesnt :)

And as for adding ketchup (or tomato sauce as we call it) to things. Try it on a cheese toastie, and also on mashed potatos ... mmmm yum!

I looooove ketchup. I will only eat Heinz if given a choice though, they just seem to do it right :smash:

Yea I also watch the biggest loser every week. It's amazing what they do there but it's def. not safe for us to work that much w/o the supervision that they have.

i dunno, i think its safe for anyone who doesnt have a heart problem or similar. Use your brain and if you feel faint or over sore then lay off :D
