It never works, because I usually end up saying, "If you're going to be a little bitch, don't bother." He straightens out in a second. ...

Hahahah, I'm totally using that one at some point!
I'm told I have "that look" down to a science. Ya know the one that will make any man cringe and wonder what he just did wrong? Thats what I usually use but I'm going to have to switch it up and keep the BF on his toes.
Sorry to hear you're going through a similar thing with your mum-in-law. It can be so frustrating. I'm just very glad that some of the things I hear/see/etc come from my BF's mom are so unrealistic that its hard not to laugh. I equate it with watching a train wreck sometimes... its fascinating and you just can't look away, but its almost painful to watch. And then when you find out that absolutely no one was hurt, you can joke about it.

Last night the BF and I had a "stern" talk about health. I kind of felt like he was brushing me off when I said I'd rather us not eat deli meats soaked in nitrates. It turns out he wasn't brushing me off. He was just off in mental-la-la land and I was ready to jump all over him for not taking me seriously. No idea why. I feel kinda bad for it.
Anyhow, after the talk, he mentioned that his mother thinks what we're doing is total crap. The summary of what we're doing is: losing weight (yea, we're both overweight), eating right (healthy foods),
absolutely NO HFCS, we've cut out most diaries that could contain rBST (I let the ice cream slide 'cause he eats it and I don't really), and we're careful to select meats that aren't saturated in solutions of flavorings, etc.
She thinks its total crap that we're doing this. Can you believe it?
At age 24, I'm already battling malignant tissue that could potentially turn into breast cancer. Its a pretty serious thing for me, considering there's a history of breast cancer in the family. The BF's mom knows this (if she was listening to me) and she thinks that the careful choosing of foods, regular exercise, and cutting out the crap is stupid. She even had the gall to tell her son that. Nice, eh?
Well mum-dear, at least I care about your son's health, even if you don't.
