No More Excuses, I'm going to do this!

Well, I'm wanting to be a police officer. All police departments have a long hiring process and this is one part of it. Not all criminal justice fields require it, just law enforcement.

I'm not really sure what the cause of it is. I don't think it's digestive. I think I'm just pushing myself so hard that it makes me feel sick.

Lunch was 265 cals

Dinner will b 880cals

Brings my daily total to 1145 cals

Of course a snack later tonight will follow.

Wow, so I was just starting to feel really crappy. Stomach felt bad, a little dizzy, headache. I recalculated my calories for the day and realised I did it wrong. My sandwhich from subway was a lot less than I had originally thought. So total for today I had only eaten 875cals! So I ventured down to the vending machine here at work and got me some goldfish and a candy bar. Not the best choices, but I was feeling awful and there wasn't anything remotely healthy in that machine.

That brings me to 1295 for today. And as I'm writing this I'm feeling much better. This is the first day since starting this week that I haven't eaten enough calories throughout the day. Now I know what it feels like, I'll be more careful when making my calculations.

That's happened to me in the past. Sometimes you just have to eat something so that you feel better.

I definetly agree. I think I may have had a small touch of a stomach bug. Late last night and earlier today I was still feeling a little sick. :( Not fun. Feeling better now. I've been at work since 8 am and won't get off till 10:30 tonight. I'm pulling a long one, ugh! Can't wait for the weekend and wedding dress shopping!

Today I had once piece of ww toast with butter- 85cals\

Then for lunch I had a hamburger with cheese and a small amount of fries. ( When I say that I mean I didn't let to cafeteria person fill have of the boat container with fries. The nutrition info above said 4oz of fries was 253 cals, but I have no clue how many ozs of fries I ate. I have a feeling it was more than 4! So I'm going to estimate 500 cals for those. (OMG I can't believe I did that) I didn't even think that I could have gotten a bag of baked chips instead! So dumb!

The hamburger with bun and chesse was 435cals.

So far a total of 935 give or take.

I'll be having a Michelina's microwaveable later tonight for dinner. I think that's maybe 300 cals, but I'm not sure. I'll update later with the exact.

Then it's no more for me tonight because I'm not truly sure how many calories I ate with those darned fries!!!!!!

Munch, this sounds like a very exciting time in your life! It's so fun to read about. My BF and I have talked about marriage in the next few years...we are Catholic too. Yay marriage counseling :)

When will you be done with school? It can be such a huge motivation to lose weight and get in shape knowing that big things are coming up for you! I wish I had that...haha. All I have is the threat of bikini season!

After reading your posts I am toying with the idea of calorie counting. I feel it could be beneficial to me. I used to do it and lost about 20 lbs. Once I fell off the wagon though I gained it all back and then some....oops. That's my own fault though.

Hope you have had a good week :)

Haha, I laughed super hard about you mainly using your flashlight app! Jeez, my phone, I never put that stupid thing down.

That physical test sounds pretty hardcore - nice job on the real pushups! They are my goal!! I can only do girly ones right now, when I try to do a real one I fall on my face!

I notice that you are totally on top of it about counting calories, do you worry about fat grams at all? The stuff you write down tends to be a little higher in fat, just wondering if you count that and what your limit is?

Keep up the awesome work!

Wow Munch you have a ton going on. Congratulations on your engagement! When is your physical fitness test? I'm so impressed you're doing full push ups.

Be careful not to eat too little. Sounds like you're on top of the calorie counting though. I'll start counting if I find myself hitting a plateau. I wanna end up around ~135. Need to build some muscle and lose a lotta fat. Let's put it this way, I'm struggling with the girl push-ups. I'm going to start lifting weights later this month.

Maybe try a little protein before your workout (e.g. a tablespoon of peanut butter on your toast)? That might settle you so you don't feel sickly during a harder workout session. I actually can't eat before working out or I feel awful. Everyone is different.

The important thing is, you're in the gym! Better to stop after a mile than do nothing at all.

Always nice to meet a fellow Catholic! :) I thought the counseling would be boring and a waste of time, but it's actually been really helpful. I will be graduating in May, I can't wait. I'm so tired of school. I agree I have a lot of things motivating this weight loss. The wedding, my future job, and bikini season! HAHA!

LOL! I use it sooooo much, I'm not kidding! I haven't messed with fat grams. Maybe if I start to plateau I'll start watching things other than my calories.

Thank you! I'm not sure exactly when I'll take it. I'm not going to start applying to departments until after the wedding. So hopefully soon after that is when I'll start taking it. When I mean "it" I mean fitness test, however each department is likely to make me take it so I'll be doing it about 4 or 5 times! lol!

Trust me, I know now not to eat too little. Not after the other night. I felt terrible. I'm not a fan of peanut butter, but I may pick up some protein bars or a powder or something to get me some extra protein pre-workout. I don't feel like I'm doing brutal workouts, but maybe I am.

Thanks to everyone for all the encouragement!

I weighed today (it will be official tomorrow!) and I was 160lbs! That's a 3lb loss this week!!!!!!!!!!! Makes me feel awesome!

Today I went shopping for my wedding dress. Found it on the third one I tried on! It's so beautiful! I'll post it once I can figure out a way to block out my face! lol

Afterwards we went to Olive Garden. I had my favorite, chicken parmesian. But I was good. I had a little salad, one breadstick, and divided my main dish, putting half of it in a to-go container before I even started eating. I paced myself and was full after I finished my portion. I looked online at the calories for my meal.

Chicken parmesian- 1090

breadstick-150

salad-350(wow that dressing was high in calories!)

For dinner a little bit ago I had my other half of the chicken parmesian and another breadstick- 150

that brings me to 1740 cals today. Higher than I would like, but it was a day out. I'm still well under my 2000 cal maintenance, so no worries!

To make the day even better LSU just beat Georgia and are SEC CHAMPS! WOO!

Well that's it for tonight. I'll post tomorrow with my official week one weigh in.

Weighed in today, I'm 160lbs! Officially! That's a 3lb loss this week!

Todays cals was 1450 for the day.

Will be going to the gym tomorrow.

Hope everyone had a good weekend!

Just got back from a really good workout at the gym. I did 1.5 miles at incline 1 at 5mph. Whew! The last few tenths were really hard, but I really wanted to finish it! I was running 1.5 at 5mph very easy, then I was reading and heard that adding incline 1 helps to simulate running outside and since that's likely where I'll be doing the 1.5 mile run for the police department, I've started training with the 1 incline. Once it starts to get warm out and by that I mean not freezing (probablyMarch) I'm going to start running outside. Anyways back to my workout! After my run I did 2 miles on the bike and then did my pushups and sit ups.

I'm still amazed that I'm doing real pushups. Granted only about 5 at a time, but compared to a few months ago, I struggled with one. Now, in addition to increasing the amount I can do, I need to work on lowering my chest closer to the ground. Seems when I try doing with, my arms just fail me and I collapse all the way to the ground. I know it won't happen overnight, so I'm not really worried at this point.

As I was peddling on the bike today, I started thinking of what the physical training of the police academy is going to be like. I can't wait to be there. Just the thought of graduated from the academy really helps to push me. I want to make my friends and family proud of what I've done. This is something I want more than anything and I won't let my fitness keep me from it. If I was able to stay away from my family and friends for long periods of time, I'd probably be in the military, but I can't. And I hope this doesn't sound bad, but I think the police are just as important if not more than the military. If they didn't help to keep us safe in our own town, cities, states, there would be no reason for us to fight wars on foreign soils! We'd be too busy with civil war.

I should probably brace myself for all the people who are going to say I'm wrong, blah, blah, blah. Just felt the need to share how I feel.

Back to health stuff!

Before I hit the gym I had a apple cinnamon nutrigrain bar-140

For lunch I'm having spaghetti:

noodles-210

sauce-70

homemade garlic toast-140

Dinner will be a Michelina's macaroni cheese bake- 320

some sort of chip from the machine at work- probably 300 cals

Total of 1180 so will need to have a snack of some sort. I love it when I have to eat more to get to my calorie goal!!!

Munch, you sound like you are doing so good! I could definitely learn a thing or two from your dedication! :blush5: I just started my first day of "counting"...yikes. I am almost afraid to eat lol! Good luck on the rest of your week!

P.S. Congrats on finding "THE" dress! That is so so exciting!

Thanks AvaTea, calorie counting is a little scary at first, but after awhile you get used to eating normal portions and it'll get easier. Sometimes I struggle to fill all of my calories. I know it sounds crazy!

Been a good day. I sold some stuff on craigslist, played a BUNCH of Battlefield 3, and then came to work. Will be getting off in about an hour and gonna go home and play more Battlefield, lol!

Then up at 9 to hit the gym and then lunch with my fiance at 11 at Grindstone Charleys. They don't have any nutritional information available so it will be like being in the middle of the ocean without a map... :/ I looked up their menu though and think I'm going to go with the grilled garlic parmesian shrimp served over rice. To be safe I'll eat half of it for my lunch and the rest at dinner. Of course I'll eat something for breakfast and maybe have a snack later on in the night. I'll be flying blind, but it's the best I can do.

Today I had some toast and butter-

a footlong bmt from subway. half for lunch and half for dinner

a small bag of baked lays

nutrigrain fruit bar

A grand total of 1310 cals for the day. This is getting easier and easier for me. I never thought I'd truly be full on 1300 cals a day, but its amazing. I'm loving it! (And I'm NOT quoting McDonalds!)

Been a rough day. Went to bed after 1 am last night. Got a call at 5am that my grandma had a heart attack and my mom needed me to work her shift today (me, my mom, and dad all work at the same place). So of course I'm worrying about my grandma and can't sleep for the two hours I have left before I have to get up and be to work at 8am. I usually work 2nd shift, so I go in at 2:30pm. I'm not used to getting up so early. Woke up and got in the shower. I live in a building with three apartments that share one water heater, so of course there hardly and hot water, UGH! Then I'm stuck in the lobby all day at work. It's so boring up here, all I do is answer the phone and deal with people coming in. I haven't gotten to walk around at all!

I completely forgot about breakfast, and had to eat at the cafeteria for lunch. I did well I think.

hamburger-246

bun-136

cheese-53

ketchup-15

pudding cup? I really have no clue.. It was in a medium-ish container. I looked up the calories in pudding packs and i think you'd fit maybe 3 in this container. Sheesh! Way more than I should have eaten, oh well. Comes out to 390

For the day I'm at 840 calories.

I'm going to be trying gumbo tonight at my fiances parents house. I'll guestimate on the calories, but will just try to eat sensibly.

Can't wait to get off from work. Gonna go check in with my grandma at the hospital for awhile, see how she's doing.

One hour into a 14.5 hour shift... Ugh!

Had a nutrigrain bar for breakfast- 140 cals

Michelina's macaroni cheese bake for lunch- 330? Can't remember exactly, I'll update later with the exact amount

small bag of original bake lays-130

lunch total-600 cals

Not sure what's for dinner. My co-worker and I are going to order something in. I'm thinking maybe Jimmy Johns? But it may be pizza. We'll see.

My grandma is doing ok. She's getting more tests done today. Anyone willing to pray for her would be appreciated. :)

Just finished eating my dinner. We got Jimmy Johns. Haven't had it in awhile, so it was good. Only 3.5 hours till I'm off work. Can't wait. Hope to play a video game for a bit before I hit the hay, but we'll see. I'll probably be totally pooped.

Dinner-sub and chips: 882 calories.

Brings my daily total to 1482 calories. Good day for me!

Today I was told that I looked thinner!!!! YAY! I can't really see it, but hoping the scale gives me another few pounds this week.

No gym today since I've been at work all day. I'm definitely going tomorrow night, no matter what and saturday.

Hope everyone is doing well!

Hey Munch-

congrats! If there's one thing I've learned, it's to take someone seriously when they comment on your weight. Sometimes it's hard to see improvements in your own body, but a friend can help point it out. :)

Just flipping through your posts has helped give me some meal ideas, etc. Thanks for posting. :)

I definitely agree. I know I won't see it happening, so it's nice that I have people around me that notice. :)

Well, it's Friday. I hopped on the scale just for a looksee. Like I said earlier my eyes are terrible and the slashes on my scale are so tiny I can't see my exact weight unless it's spot on a whole number like 160. Today it looked like it was on 160, but also a little to the left. A little disapointed, but I suppose last week was mostly water weight. It won't be official until Sunday when I weigh in and mark it on the fridge so hopefully it'll go down a bit more before then.

I think another reason is due to the fact that I only made it to the gym once this week and 3 days this week I've been stuck at a desk. I've been working the day shift as opposed to my normal 2:30-10:30. I sit at a desk then too, but I get up and perform patrols throughout the evening. These day shifts, I'm just stuck at my desk the whole day. It's awful.

I'm really hoping I can hit the gym tonight, but I'm not sure if I will. I've got a few things to do and then going to dinner with my fiance. It's been such a hectic week. I'm getting a little frusterated. It seems things are always getting in the way of my exercise. ARGH! I am going to start a program called 100 pushups that I found online. My goal isn't to do 100 pushups, however. I just want to be able to do 25 consecutive. This is for the police fitness test. Of course I won't complain if I can do more! I can actually do about 5 now, which is a vast improvement from before I started working out a month or two ago. But I feel like I need some sort of program to push me along. I hope this is it.

Next week is the last week of classes for me, so that means finals. I had one this week and will have two next week. Not too bad, but I know those ones will be tough. I'm hoping to finally get back into the gym at least 3-4 times next week. I know the hard work will show up on the scale.

I'm a little irked about my breakfast. I got to work and decided I would get breakfast instead of lunch because I figured I could save some calories. I had some scrambled eggs, 6 tater tots, and 4 pieces of bacon. Now thinking back I should have limited myself to 2 pieces of bacon. Oh and I had some syrup for my eggs. Another thing I should have passed up on. Oh well, I can't take it back now. It's a total of 660 cals. For lunch I have a nutrigrain bar-140 cals. Then dinner will be at Grindstones. Which inconveiniently doesn't have nutritional information available!!! BOO! But I think I'm going to go with grilled shrimp over rice. I definetly won't be eating it all. I think I'll box up half of it and have it for lunch tomorrow. I'll really just be guessing on the calories by looking everything up. I hate not knowing exact amounts. That's why I want to really try to get into the gym tonight so I don't worry too much about how many calories I'll be eating at dinner.

I can't wait for this day to be over and it be the weekend. I'm so tired from this week, a good rest is just what I need.

So for yesterday, I'm really hoping I met my maintenance goal. We went out to eat. The chicken I had was yucky and I wasn't really into the shrimp my fiance got. I had about half of a potato that I ate. Only had a few bites of the chicken and a few pieces of shrimp. I had some of the bread they provided instead. Probably a killer I know, but I was hungry and didn't want to waste everything! Later the fiance and I got some ice cream from burger king. I splurged and got the brownie sundae which is about 500 calories. I know I shouldn't have but it didn't look like I was going to lose a significant amount of weight anyway so I figured why not?

Today I've had a nutrigrain bar. Going to save my calories for later tonight. We're going to my fiances parents, so not sure what were having. I'll be a little blind, so I'm just going to do small portions and hope for the best. I do plan on going to the gym after I finish my laundry so that will help.

I weighed myself today. Looks to be about 159-160lbs. It's so hard to tell on my scale. I wasn't able to go to the gym as much as I wanted to this week. Only made it Monday. Then work pretty much made it impossible for me. I'm hoping next week getting back into it strong and that will show up on the scale.

Well, the weekend went ok. I'm not going to say it was an amazing success, but it definitely could have been worse. I weighed in on saturday at 159 lbs. Just a one lb loss this week, but I am in the 150's so that makes me really happy. I also wasn't able to go to the gym, which i think had a big effect. This week will be better!

Today for breakfast I had one pop tart-210cals. I really shouldn't have had it, but my fiance made two and offered me one and I said yes and ate before I could think about how many calories were in it! Ugh

Moving on. We got a free pizza from Papa Johns. 290 cals a piece. I had two for lunch and will have two for dinner. It was a plain cheese pizza.

Total for the day will be 1370cals. Not too bad. I love pizza and this is the first time we've ordered it in since I've been watching my calories. I'm pretty proud of today! :)

Back to the gym tomorrow.
