Newbie, looking for a New Me

Hi BDM,

I've been seeing you around the forum and just read through your journal....so I figure I'd say hello :) You are doing some great work, lady! I love that you have a basic exercise routine down...something that I've been working on getting the hang of.

I also wanted to say that I loved reading about your thoughts after you read the "fear of thin" thread. I read that thread when I first joined a couple of weeks ago, but haven't "gone there" yet. I feel like I have some similaries to you in the way of having a perfectionist mother. My mom isn't but my step-mom was and she and my dad raised me and so I know what it's like to grow up feeling like nothing was EVER enough. I would even think to myself when I was child, "I'm doomed if I do..I'm doomed if I don't." Anyway, that was very insightful of you for your own personal journey and it was insightful for mine as well, concerning 'weight issues.' Thanks for sharing and for being the inspiration that you are. Keep it up! See you around :seeya:

~Kristi~

Kristi - thanks for stopping by. The "Fear of Thin" thread really makes you think. It helped me to put a new perspective on things.

I joined the gym in April. I was sidelined from surgery Nov - March, but I'm back at it. My goal is to make goal this year.

I'm going to go find your journal and learn a bit more about you.

Made it to the gym today and did the spinning class again. It was great. Different instructor this time.

Have lots to do today, so I've got to get moving before heading to the BD party.

So far today I've had Oatmeal with ground flax seed, 1 1/2 tsp peanut butter and 1/2 scoop choc protein powder.

Lunch was a smoothie. YUM

Your breakfast sounds delish!!! mmm, I'm going to have to try that soon :) I saw it in Danny's journal and was going to try it this morning but the craving for eggs were too strong! Spinning classes are killer! I haven't been to one in years but I used to go and when it was over my legs were like spaghetti and I could barely walk down the stairs out of the gym! Gotta love that high though...it feels sooo good! I'm starting to look forward to joining a gym. The thought of it only a week ago was scary...but eventually I will. Keep it up!

Pastelroses - I'm new to this spinning thing, but I love it. It does give the legs a good work out.

Limited - scrambled eggs must be a guy thing. Both DS and DH like theirs that way. I will do an omelet, but I prefer mine easy over.

The BD party was nice. I did ok with the choices that were there. I had grilled chicken on a whole wheat roll. A small serving of couscous salad and a small serving of potato salad and some tossed salad. I did have cake.

We will see what the scale says tomorrow, but I'm planning a good WO tomorrow.

Well I LOVE my eggs with the white part cooked and the yellow part runny! But I will ONLY eat them that way if my grandma cooks it! Other then that scrambled like at Dennys of Ihop, but only with a skillet, I'm a pick bitch haha...Can we say bad words here?

Mmmm I loveeee couscous! and I love german shepards! I always wanted one! Sounds like you are still doing great!

Well it's been a crazy weekend. Not sure how this weeks WI will go. Tonight we ended up with pizza and a cookie cake. My MIL and FIL were over with my two nieces. My SIL and BIL were taking their two boys to camp. It's the same niece who's BD we celebrated last night. My FIL was helping DH in the kitchen to grout the tile we put up in the back splash. Well it was getting on dinner time and my kitchen was out of commission, so pizza it was.

Since I had to make the run for pop (I drank water) I picked up a cookie cake for my DN. We sang to her again. (she's 5)

She's afraid of my dog, so she clung to me most of the day. I'm whooped. So now I'm having some Backporch Lemonaide. YUM, but calories.

Oh well, back to square one tomorrow.

Breakfast and lunch were good though.

Well, you know what even if this weekend didn't go exactly how you might've wanted it to, at least you had a nice time and can hop back on the wagon!

You always seem like you are so busy! It's good to take some time to relax and have a nice time with the fam. :) Good luck with the weigh in and no matter what the scale says, you are on an upward trend as a whole!

-Dawn

Dawn you are right, I am busy most of the time. The thing that gets annoying is doing so well before the weekend, seeing a nice loss about to appear and wham, I get done in over the weekend. I may still show a loss tomorrow, but not what I had hoped for.

Breakfast today was my oatmeal concoction.

Snack 1/2 c lowfat cottage cheese, and some radishes

Lunch smoothie made with 6oz LF yogurt, 3/4 c. skim milk 1/2 scoop protein powder and 2/3 cup raspberries.

Snack nectarine

Dinner 3 oz of grilled chicken, 1 c steamed green beans and 1 very tiny baked potato. Then an ice cream bar for dessert

I did get out and hit the tennis ball with my DD, then we went to the pool to cool off. I got in a tad of exercise that way. I do have yoga tonight too.

Heya!

I hope your yoga was fun - tennis is great exercise! I wish I could swim more...our pool in our community always has tons of little kids in it and I can never get in laps when I go without aquatically mowing down someone.

I know what you mean about the weekend, during the week I am very structured and then it always seems like come Sat-Sun we are going out to eat somewhere and it's so easy to break, especially since I can tell myself "oh you did so good this week, live a little!". The problem is I live A LOT LOL.

If you don't see the loss you wanted this week then this coming week is a clean slate! You'll get there. You're really dedicated and you've done amazing so far. :)

Today's WI was better than I thought. Down 1.6, my ticker is based on Friday's WI and I am up about .4 from last Friday. My goal is to get down at least 1 from my ticker by Friday. As you can see, my indiscretions on the weekend added at least .4. But hey, I didn't think I'd pull 1.6, so I'm happy about that.

Today was a non-fat mocha and 1/2 Ezekiel muffin with PB for breakfast

Then off to the gym.

Lunch was a huge salad with tuna and a little feta. 1T of dressing and some extra Rice vinegar.

Snack: 1/2 c. cottage cheese, 1/2 Ezekiel muffin w/1tsp 100% fruit spread and 5 radishes, with a glass of iced green tea with mint.

Dinner will be a stirfry of veggies and turkey over brown rice.

Yoga again tonight.

DD and I got the paint for their bathroom and she is patiently waiting for me to help her with the wallpaper remover for the border that's up in there.

Have a great day all!

You food sounds so good and it's making me want to learn how to cook!

Congratulations on a good weigh in! I'm glad you did better than you thought, that's always nice! :)

BDM you are doing great! I am so impressed with you. You have been eating well most of the time, you are working out and you are always getting so much stuff done! I swear, I read your posts and I feel lazy. You are always on the move or working on a project. You inspire me.

Dawn - you should learn how to cook. It's not hard, saves money and you can make it very healthy. Give it a try.

Funmom - yep always moving, life with a teen and college student. Plus owing a business with DH. My problem hasn't been what I eat for the most part, it's been the quantity. Even healthy food will make your weight go up if you eat too much of it.

yoga was great, I'm tired and off to bed.

oops, guess I missed up-dating for a couple of days.

As for my Tues WI, I lost 1.6, that kind of paid for most of my weekend extras. Not sure if I'll show a loss for tomorrow's though.

I was really tired yesterday and went to bed at 8:45! That is definitely a treat. Normally I don't make it before 10 and tonight will be no exception.

I have work today, then I will hit the gym. Tonight I will be meeting a friend for a walk and somewhere in there, I hope to get some painting done.

My eating has been great since the weekend, just don't think I've had enough water. I will fix that today though.

This morning was Go-Lean cereal with a banana and skim milk.

Snack will be cottage cheese and red beets

Lunch will be a smoothie

Dinner is still up in the air. Maybe pasta.

Pasta sounds good. Who's cookin' ;) Congrats on your progress! You deserve every bit of it! Look how hard you're working!

Hi BDM! You're kicking butt!

I have trouble getting in all the water i should a lot of the time. It goes right through me so if i try to drink all my water during the day i take 100 trips to the bathroom, and being so sore from the lunges it has been the worst thing ever LOL. Get your water in and have fun at the gym!
