New Here! Wanting to get fit.

Hi bdm-

I didn't go to the gym actually today, I decided I'd give the blister some time to heal. So i took it really easy lol.

Breakfast this morning was cinnamon swirl high fiber oatmeal, and lunch was couscous with a cut up hot dog, a peach and a few pretzels with a 1/4th of a cup of fat free mango sorbet for dessert. I've kinda been munchy today, snacking on pretzels and kashi go lean crunch periodically. I usually snack a lot on the weekends. =/

Dinner will be a lean pocket or something similar, probably with a little couscous and an apple with a skinny cow sandwich for dessert.

I got special bandaids for the blister, "Ampoules" with the hope that I'd be able to run tomorrow. It's a small blister and it hasn't broken open yet so I'm really hoping that these bandaid cushion things will help protect it at the gym tomorrow. :)

Dawn - it does your body good to take a break after a tough WO. I hope the bandaids work too. DD is calling me to go for the walk, so I'd better run.

Hi BDM!

So, these special blister bandaids which are very expensive (5$ for 6 band-aids)...I wore one all day yesterday and it really seemed to help the blister, so I figured that this morning I'd go to the gym and see how it went. I did 2.25 miles, but I could definitely feel the blister. When I got home I realized the bandaid had totally slid up my foot and was in a completely different position then on my blister lol. It actually doesn't feel too bad though, so i think I might be good to go.

Last night we ended up going out to eat (one of our friend's dad offered to buy everyone dinner) and I had sushi. Seemed like a lot of rice! I skipped my ice cream sandwich last night.

Breakfast was high fiber instant oatmeal with a vitamin and some grapes and apple slices. Lunch is going to be a 6 inch veggie sub from subway and and apple, baked chips and a fiber one bar.

Ugh, i weighed myself this morning and somehow it said I weigh 128 pounds. Did I really gain 3 pounds back!?! My period is due any day now, so I'm hoping that is why. :(

all morning i snacked on the oriental snack mix + dried fruit that was in my office. I am SO full now. I also had a peach and a bag of cereal. Then for lunch I had my veggie subway sub + baked chips + apple + fiber one bar. I can barely move. I definitely eat too much.

Hi Dawn - TOM will definitely add water weight. I'll bet by the end of the week you will be back down. The sushi could have been salty too. Too funny about the bandaid, but oh so typical. Glad the blister was ok anyway.

Hi BDM, thanks for the encouragement!

Last night dinner was Chicken Cordon Bleu (fiance's mom cooked) and it was so freaking good. I had 1 1/2 pieces, they were on the small side but still very very bad I'm sure. I also had chicken rice, a small salad, and some pasta...and my ice cream sandwich for dessert! I really get out of control when I'm PMSing and feel like i could eat the world and would still be hungry lol.

This morning i was back at it in the gym, did 2 miles on 3.5 incline in just under 24 minutes and then walked out the last 1/4 mile on 5.0 incline at 3.5. Today was leg day and I decided to be really brave and try the lunges again. I did the same number as last week but held 3lb weights instead of 5lb ones. I felt the burn by the end but I can tell i will be nowhere near as sore as last week. I also did the leg machines and 100 sit ups. Treadmil said i burned 250 and then the weights/lunges had to have added to that at least a little bit.

Breakfast was blueberry oatmeal (instant) and a multivitamin. Lunch will be a healthy choice panini and an apple with baked chips and a fiber one bar. I brought a fruit salad of watermelon and pineapple for a snack and also a bag of cherries and a small bag of pretzels.

Dinner will hopefully be a lean pocket.

Hope everyone is doing great.

Dawn - sounds like an awesome day at the gym! Hope the legs are ok today. Good job cutting back on the weight a bit. You're eating sounds good too! have an awesome day.:jump:

Hi BDM!

The legs feel ok but my butt is a little sore LOL.

Last night's dinner was a lean cuisine manicotti thing, it was pretty small (only 2 manicottis) with some couscous, cantelope and some baked chips. Dessert was my skinny cow ice cream sandwich.

I did 2 miles this morning in just under 24 minutes. I did my arm workouts this morning and 100 sit ups.

Breakfast was 1/2 a nutrigrain bar and a small bag of kashi honey sunshine and a multi-vitamin (i had to rush out of the house this morning because I needed to get gas before work).

Lunch will be Healthy Choice Chicken and Rice Soup with an apple, baked chips and my fiber one bar. Snacks are a bag of cherries, a special K cereal bar and a small bag of pretzel sticks.

I hope everyone is great!

Dinner last night was a lean pocket, couscous, fruit salad and baked chips with skinny cow ice cream sandwich for dessert.

I didn't go to the gym this morning, this is my mid-week break day, plus I'm due to get my period today and just not feeling it.

Breakfast was half a nutri grain bar and some fruit + vitamin, and I'll snack on some kashi honey sunshine this morning. Lunch will be healthy choice seasame chicken meal + apple, some pretzels and fiber one bar. Snacks are 100 calorie pack of ritz mix and a special K cereal bar.

Dinner will be sushi!!

Dinner last night was a california roll, a spicy tuna roll and 2 pieces of salmon sushi with an ice cream sandwich for dessert.

Chris is getting a new job in about 2 weeks (they made him an offer, pending his background check coming out alright) so I baked him a cake as a congratulations...and I haven't had any of it! It was a duncan hines mix from a box, and I can't believe I didn't screw it up as I made it. Pretty pleased about that. I thought about having a piece last night but didn't break. Unfortunately we are going to the Outback tonight so I will have to check out their menu and see if there is anything I can eat that won't be too damaging...

This morning i was back in the gym, did my 2 miles in 23 minutes and some change with my 3.5 incline, then walked out the last 1/4 mile on 5.0 incline. Total of about 28 minutes of cardio. Then I did my arm exercises and 100 sit ups.

Breakfast was cinnamon roll high fiber instant oatmeal and a vitamin...my boss said we are going out to lunch today and i'm praying that it's going to be sushi and not the cuban restaurant they like to go to. Everything at the cuban place is so amazing but greasy and even smelling the food makes me gain weight.

Hope everyone is well!

Lunch on friday turned out to be sushi, so that was good!

The Outback turned out to be...kind of alright. They have this really good dark brown sweet bread and we had like 6 rolls of it lol. I got a ceasar salad with the dressing on the side, no cheese, with ahi tuna on top.

Saturday was cardio day and I did my 5 miles in 59 minutes and some seconds (don't remember exactly). Unfortunately my blister came back, which was weird because i ran during the week and it was fine, didn't bother me at all. I'm going to wrap with sports tape next time just in case. I hope I don't need new shoes.

Yesterday's food was alright, I had oatmeal + fruit in the morning + vitamin, subway veggie sub with 1 slice of cheese + baked chips and water for lunch, and a shake n bake chicken breast for dinner with a small side of chicken rice and mixed veggies for dinner (I cooked! omg!). Skinny cow ice cream was dessert.

We also grocery shopped yesterday, I weighed myself on the scale they have at publix and it said i was at 124 1/2 :O. I don't know if it's correct or not, I'm still on my period and I just can't believe that the gym scale says 128 and the scale at publix says so much lighter. I know weight fluctuates, I suppose that could be it!

I haven't eaten yet this morning, I want to eat a later breakfast and lunch because we are going to my mom's house for dinner and we aren't going until 6. My mom is an awful cook =(, I'm afraid to see what she's making. She said she had a "surprise" for dessert and I'm sure it's not going to be on my diet either.

No gym today, gonna give the blister a rest and get ready for the start of a new week!

Dawn - sounds like you had an awesome weekend. How was dinner at your Mom's? What was the surprise dessert?

Keep up the awesome gym routine, you're doing great!

Hi BDM!

Unfortunately for me & chris, my mom is not a good cook LOL. She made a chicken (which was alright) some mixed veggies and some potatoes (also edible). She made these biscuits though with expired baking powder/soda (whichever makes the bread rise), so the biscuits looked like flat cookies LOL. Then for dessert she tells us she has strawberry shortcake, so we're like mmm that sounds good...but for the "shortcake" part she used the same biscuits and slopped whipped cream on them with some strawberries....these biscuits were NOT sweet at all. They were flour biscuits. It was NOT GOOD lol.

She did have decent appetizers and i had a lot of multigrain chips and guacamole (which i LOVE).

So this morning I went to the gym and decided to try a new strategy. I walked for 3 1/2 minutes and then I ran at 5.6...but i was able to run the whole time! I think running slower but running the entire time is a better workout for me. I did the 2 miles in just under 23 minutes. My blister is back in full force - i wrapped it with a special bandaid and sports tape, but it didn't seem to help that much.

I also did arms today and 100 sit ups.

Breakfast was cinnamon roll high fiber oatmeal and a multi vitamin. Lunch will be country vegetable healthy choice soup with an apple, baked chips and fiber one bar. Snacks are a peach, fresh cherries and a special K cereal bar.

Dawn - my mom isn't the greatest cook either, so I can totally relate. Sorry about the dinner. I forgot to congrat Chris on the new job! Great job at the gym too. Warming up always helps.

Hi BDM!

So, dinner yesterday night was pork with apples, it was really really good. I don't think I had toooo much, but I did have a roll with butter which was so good. Also had my skinny cow ice cream for dessert.

This morning I went to the gym and wrapped up my blister with the special bandaid and gauze tape, but....when I was running I could feel the pain but just figured it was the blister rubbing against the bandaid or something and finished my workout (2miles, 3.5 incline under 23 minutes). I did lunges/leg workout today with 100 sit ups. When I got home OMG I had ANOTHER blister. I think I got it from the gauze tape, actually....I'm not sure what to do at this point. I guess invest in new shoes/socks? I don't really want to stop running now that I'm in a place where I can run 20 minutes straight. =(

Breakfast this morning was oatmeal w/multivitamin, lunch will be lean pocket, apple + 100 calorie pack of ritz mix and fiber one bar for dessert. Snacks are 2 quaker oats 90 calorie granola bars and a peach and some cherries.

My foot really freaking hurts. =/.

Hi Dawn!

Good to read your diary. My ex husband was in the army and also used to run long distance. He always told me to wear two pairs of socks. It does help, but I still get blisters in new places all the time. When I am really into walking/jogging my feet look like a battlefied, lol. But I endure it because there is nothing else I like for exercise.

Good luck on your weight loss! You are on your way!

Thanks for coming by colleen!

Last night's dinner was a low fat hot dog with onions, ketchup and spicy mustard with a fruit salad, vegetables with light cheese sauce, and some baked chips. Dessert was skinny cow ice cream.

I almost didn't go to the gym this morning because I had to be at work earlier than usual today - but I went anyway. I tried a new way of wrapping my foot in the hopes that my 2 blisters wouldn't be aggravated...I ran 2 miles and my foot was KILLING me by the end. =(. I didn't have time to do weights or sit ups, but I was happy to get the cardio done.

Breakfast was oatmeal as usual, lunch was a salad from ruby tuesday (with lots of bad things on it) and a piece of quiche which was so good, I only ate one corner of the pastry it was baked in but it was still really bad for me, i know! Snacks were an apple and a fiber one bar.

Dinner was a chicken breast with shake - n- bake (mmm) and veggies with cheese sauce and couscous. Dessert will be a skinny cow ice cream sandwich.

I baked chris a cake tonight and will have to resist the urge to pig out.

I'm beginning to think I'm going to have to suck it up and stop running for the next few days. These blisters won't go away and they really suck. =( Once they heal I'll try double socking it!

Blisters suck... I used to get them all of the time but since I have been running in the latest pair of running shoes I got, I don't get any at all. These shoes are designed exactly for the type of foot I have (flat and overpronates)... When I did used to get blisters I would usually give running a break for a day or two, and if I felt I had to run with them, I would tape them up with clear medical tape or use a liquid bandage (which I think works pretty well)... You could also do the elliptical until your blister heals enough to start running on it again. The elliptical I would think, wouldn't aggrivate it as much as a treadmill workout would.

Sorry about your blisters. I know how bad they can be...

-Sam

That sucks about your blister.

I reckon if you take about 3 days off from running and do cycling or elliptical instead it will give it time to heal? To prevent them make sure your shoes aren't rubbing and wear your socks over your ankles, and if your still worried tape it up.

Grrr I hate blisters! I hate ANYTHING that stops me from exercising. I ran into a bike (yes a bike) and I have these two MASSIVE bruises on my shins, which make it painful to run, yet I have still been runnning! The pain kinda goes away after a while :(
