Hi all,

Thought I'd better start a new diary thread... I started my efforts on New Year's Day and my short term goal is to lose a stone/14lbs by Valentines Day. :)

My official weigh-in day is each Saturday... but I jumped on the scales yesterday (couldn't resist) and had lost 1.8lbs so far. An ok start. :blush5:

Anywayyyyy I'm going to try to note down what I eat each day... to keep on the straight and narrow.

Today's menu:

BREAKFAST - WeightWatchers tomato soup and 4crackers

LUNCH - Oven grilled potato bites

DINNER - Tomato pasta, peas, peppers, and (dry) mashed potatoes

SNACKS - Handful of purple Grapes, 1x pear, 1x Special K bar (90cals)

DRINKS - low sugar squash, lots of sugar-free pepsi

(Yes, I know I should avoid the fizzy drinks. It's on my to-do list! :))

Hey, how are you? Congrats on the weight loss, seems like you're off to a great start.
I have the same problem avoiding sugar free sodas, they're just so addicting and 0 cals but apparently they have a lot of cons, giving them up it's on my to-do list to :p.

Anyway, love your name, tutti frutti is so yummy (especially with heavy whipping cream and a little bit of sugar haha, but that kinda kills the healthy dessert :p).

Good luck with everything :) keep up the good work

Thanks neveragain. :)

I jumped on the scales today to find I'm another lb down... that's 2.8lbs so far. Hoping that by official weigh-in day tomorrow I'll have dropped the full 3lbs, would be happy with that!!

So far had a healthy breakfast and off out in a bit to brave the snow and take a walk. (Need some food in the house apart from anything else!) I attend a step aerobics class which I actually really enjoy, and was supposed to be back for the first after Christmas BUT couldnt because of the snow. :( Frustrating! So walking will have to do for now.

Anyway, have a good day all. x

Well, got some walking in today and stocked up with some diet-friendly supplies!

And on the food front...

Today's menu:

BREAKFAST - 4x Ryvita with low-sugar jam

LUNCH - 1 and a half sesame seed bagels with smoked samon and 1 tblsp light mayo

DINNER - Cous cous in a tomato sauce, jacket potato, 3 slices ham (32cals, 0.8g fat) and salad bits.

SNACKS - sugar-free jelly

DRINKS - Diet pepsi, low-sugar squash, and 1 glass Mango Juice (200mls = 118cals)

Finished the last of that bottle of Pepsi, so thats me off the fizzy drinks now. Official weigh-in day is tomorrow and I hope to see I've hit the 3lb mark. :)

This is what I did, and 2 weeks later my weight loss is coming off faster than before. I think its because we are naturally going to drink more water instead of some fizzy concoction of 30 chemicals.

Keep this up! For me, it was harder than quitting smoking, but ive only been off soda for about 3-4 weeks. Its worth it!:cheers2:

Thanks Andy... yeh I hope to keep it up, I will miss it though as it's been the calorie-free Pepsi I reach for as an alterantive to snacks when I fancy something tasty. :)

Hey,

Saw your thread and just thought I'd pop in and say hi. Congrats on joining here and your weight loss so far!

I have been a member here for a while, quit and now I'm back for 2010. I had lost a bunch of weight, gained it back and now I want to lose it for good! We're at about the same weight so it would be awesome to support each other, if you want :) I have a diary myself if that interests you.

Good luck on your weight loss journey!

Thanks for that Risty, I found your diary. Always nice to chat to people with a similar starting weight and goal weight to myself. (My long term goal is 140lbs) x

Well, there ya go! We have the same goals and starting out at the same weight.

So what kind of exercises are you doing and how often are you planning to do them?

Hey,

Well since september I've been going to a step aerobics class once a week... it's hard work but I've got better at it and actually really enjoy going, so I hope to keep that up. Unfortunately I haven't been since before xmas, as I missed the first one back because of the snow!

I am also going to try out a kick aerobics class and maybe do that too, but I have a very hectic schedule coming up so not sure how this is all going to work out... will just wait and see how things go.

Today I am stuck at home because of the snow, I didnt have a great morning food wise (nothing naughty but I ate far more than I needed!) so this afternoon I decided to stop feeling sorry for myself and dusted off the exercise dvd. Always an interesting experience!:rotflmao: I feel better for doing something, though.

How about you? x

Hey,

Those classes sound good. When I lost my weight before I was doing a cardio kickboxing class and it was awesome! It's such a good workout.

Yeah my schedule can be busy too. It's hard on my 12 hour days to think about when I would exercise! lol

I haven't started exercising yet but on Jan 18 I'm going to start P90X. It's a really hard exercise program via DVD. It's a 90 day program actually. So for this week, I'm going to try and use my sister's elliptical if she'll let me to get some cardio in and then maybe just do some sit ups, push ups, that kinda thing in preparation for P90X.

We (my husband and I) had started P90X before Christmas and with all my 12 hour shifts plus all the dinners we had to go to we realized that there would be quite a few days we wouldn't have time to do it and we didn't want to screw up the schedule of the program so we stopped. Also my birthday is next week and I don't want to be super sore for it, so that's why we're starting Jan 18. But when I had started it previously, I hurt so bad! It's a really hard workout.

My other plan is to start running again once winter is over. It's cold out and the sidewalks are icy/snowy so I'll wait until spring. A year and a half ago, I joined the running room to do the learn to run group and I went from only being able to run 2 mins to running 10 mins and walking 1 for 5 km. Now, I can't do that anymore because I stopped but that's why I want to start it up again, because it was such a huge accomplishment.

Actually prior to the running room I built up my running from 30 secs (then 2 mins walking) to 2 mins running and 1 min walking. Then I joined the running room. So really I went from 30 secs running, 2 mins walking for 20 mins to 10 mins running 1 min walking for 5k (which I think is around 40 mins or so). So it was huge!

Ok, I better stop rambling!

Ha, dw, I follow you!! Running is something that doesnt appeal that much - very hilly round here and a small community, so would definately be spotted by people I knew!! I never minded on the treadmill though, if I had access to one these days I'd try to build up my time again. :)

Hi Tutti Frutti, firstly well done on the weight loss - hope I'll be there soon!

I also like the treadmill for a fast walk - can't run have a bad knee from all my martial arts.

We have a gym room at our house - but somedays I just don' have the energy to get off my butt and go onto the treadmill! My husband lifts weights and he is so dedicated. However I have put up a poster in my room "no pain, no gain" and that has encouraged me to exercise more.

I used to like Taebo and think I will also be dusting off the DVD and start again. We can do it gal!!

Keep up the "losing streak":hurray:

Hope I get my diet plan next week!!

Thanks Mands, however I'm only 10 days in and 2lbs down so it's a bit of a humble streak so far!

Wasn't very happy to step on the scales today and see 194... when two days ago I weighed in at 193.2! But never mind, will keep at it.

Yesterday's menu (as I forgot to do it last night!):

BREAKFAST: Large bowl choc cereal with skimmed milk

LUNCH: Bubble and squeak with 2x poached eggs

DINNER: Plate of veg with gravy

DRINKS: Low-sugar squash

SNACKS: 1x walkers baked, (low-fat baked crisps, for anyone not in the UK!) handful of purple grapes, and a small plate of leftover spaghetti in a tomato sauce (not too bad but I really didnt need it!)

Sooo, not a great day for food - just overindulged, in terms of the ammount I had. Did an exercise DVD in the afternoon to try to balance it out a bit, and I'm feeling that ache today!

Will update tonight with today's menu. x

Hiya Tutti Frutti, gl on your journey! ... I gotta ask ... what's bubble and squeak? sounds like something you do in the bathtub ... only the other way round ;)

LOL! It's when you use up leftover veg and fry it all up together... must be a British thing!! But as long as it's dry-fried it's a healthy meal :)

Soooo...

Today's Menu:

BREAKFAST: Leftover cous-cous in a tomato sauce (strange breakfast I know)

LUNCH: Leftover veg with gravy

DINNER: Veg with gravy and stuffing

DRINKS: Low-sugar squash

SNACKS: 1x packet of Walkers Baked, sugar-free jelly, and low-fat mousse :) (needed a chocolate fix!)

Greetings all!!

Just checking in. Have had an ok day diet-wise today... no real exercise as I'm hurting from yesterday so thought it would do more harm than good. Tomorrrow though!

Today's menu:

BREAKFAST: 4x Ryvita with a banana

LUNCH: Leftover veg with gravy

DINNER: Jacket potato with tuna (in low-fat mayo), baked beans, & salad.

DRINKS: Low-sugar squash, 1 glass Mango Juice (200mls = 118cals)

SNACKS: 1x Walkers Baked, 1x Special K Bar (90cals) Low-fat Mousse, 3xslice of ham (32cals, 0.8g fat)

Step aerobics is super fun and a way to really sweat! Sometimes I get confused with the steps or routine but I can just laugh it off and jump right back in.
What is veg with gravy? Never heard of that mixture before - sounds interesting and tasty but also fattening.
Keep it up you are off to a great start!!

Thanks :) LOL veg = vegetables. I'm not a big meat lover so normally when my other half has chicken, potatoes and veg on his plate, I'll just have the potatoes and veg... and I've had gravy when I've been on holiday in the USA so Im sure you have it there, maybe you just call it something different! :p

Today has been a good day diet wise... it's been the first day that I haven't been constantly hungry. So far, I've spent the whole time hungry from about an hour or two after each meal, even though my portions have been plenty big enough. Just shows how much my appetite must have grown over Christmas etc. But today I haven't felt that way :) even when I walked around the supermarket and saw all the tasty-looking foods I didn't feel I wanted any of them, so that's big progress I think. It should be a little easier from here on in. :hurray:

I made a home-made pea soup this afternoon, it's the first time I made it but it surprised me by turning out really good! So that will be my dinner tonight.

Hope everybody's having a good day! :) x

Today's Menu:

BREAKFAST: Small bowl Crunchy Nut cereal with skimmed milk

LUNCH: Chinese rice (sachet, 436cals, 2.6g fat) with 3 slices ham (32cals, 0.8g fat)

DINNER: Large bowl homemade pea soup with 4x crackers

DRINKS: Low-sugar squash, Pepsi-Max, 1x glass Mango Juice (200mls = 118 cals)

SNACKS: 1x Special K bar (90 cals) Low-fat choc mousse

Quite a good day... except that I'm back on the Pepsi Max but I was gonna crack open either the pepsi or the chocolate and the Pepsi was the lesser of two evils!
