My Recovery from Obesity

Don congrats on the loss! I am so close to being out of the 150s so reading about your success is super motivating to me! I too am thinking of kicking up the workouts! Let us know how it goes for you :)

Thanks Camila and great job on you, too! 140s must be a huge motivation for you.... I cannot even imaging being so close to goal. I'll let you know how the workouts go...I'm not worried about my ability to DO 2 workouts...just whether I can change my schedule around to accommodate them.

SO close to the 370's!!! I too am on the threshold of bumping down to the next 10 group (sitting at an official weigh in of 140.2) so I understand the excitement! I actually hit the 130's the day AFTER my official weigh in both this week AND last week!! Keep it going!

Thanks, Mystic. Well I'm there today! 378.8 this morning, down 1.2 pounds for a total of 78.8 pounds.

I need greens today. Just feel it.

Have a good day, all.

Hope you've had a groovy day, Don. Wish I felt the need to eat greens. Instead I want cheese, cheese and more cheese with melted cheese on.

I wanna start by saying that it sounds like you were exactly like me when it came to eating. I too would binge eat throughout the day, and since I have an odd work hours sometimes I would come home late at night (usually around 11PM) I would be starving and devour a ton of junk food before going to bed. It was tough to get off the "Binge-eating-wagon," but after a while it got easier and easier and now I don't really crave food.

Congrats on the weight-loss, don't give up! :D

Thank you all so much for dropping by and offering the supportive words. It means a lot to me to be around so many like-minded folks who appreciate the battles and the victories. MrVee, I was just thinking that I am approaching your starting weight! Can you stand still until I lose 110 lbs and catch up? Then maybe we can explore the Superstitions and look for the Lost Dutchman's claim.... or just go get a beer and some wings.

All is fine.... not great, not bad. I did NOT get my allotment of greens like I wanted yesterday. I ate OK, just didn't overload with veg like I planned. Instead I made a HUGE batch of falafel () from scratch (I freeze them after cooking, then reheat as needed) and ate SIX between lunch and dinner. OK, so maybe I overdid it. These are very healthy, but like anything, you still need to eat in moderation. I like them with plain greek yogurt and lettuce greens and sometimes hummus.

Weighed in at 378.6 pounds today, down a modest 0.2 lbs.

Bad news is my exercise bike is dying, I tore apart the front axle yesterday and found the issue, but don't have the parts to repair it. I may be able to get by temporarily, but will need a long-term solution pretty soon. I'd LOVE a rower, but it's not in the budget right now.

Any time you're in Phoenix, Donny.

One of these days they're going to find that Lost Dutchman. He's gonna be pretty old.

Don...I've never had falafel but holy wow that looks delicious!!! And that recipe actually does not seem too difficult. I seriously may have to try these. And I do not blame you for eating 6 ;) How could you not?!

Sorry to hear about the bike, that's not fun. But I am pretty confident that if anyone could find a solution, it is you! Hope the rest of your week goes great!

Falafel are awesome but I never make them--I always mess up the recipe. And I can't pronounce it right. Is it fal-a-fal or falaf-al? Or neither. I just sound like I have a sock in my mouth :leaving:

Thanks all! Falafel (I say it "fa-lawful" but don't know that's authentic) is delicious and can be very healthy. I was going to oven bake them, but tried pan frying them and found that they soak up next to NO oil. I made about 50 3-4" diameter falafel (like small burger patties) and fried ALL of them in 1 cup of canola oil and had more than half that oil left when I was done. I did NOT follow the recipe I linked; my recipe was a version I created and it differed from the linked one... I used large lima and garbanzos, 2 bunches each of cilantro and parsley (very green), jalapeno, dry ancho chiles, fresh tahini, etc. If someone wants it, let me know and I'll send a copy.

Remember I mentioned that i was getting chickens? Here's a pic of my girls tonight... trying strawberry for the first time. It was a hit. I have Golden Comets, Rhode Island Reds and Plymouth Barred Rocks... the black ones are the barred rocks and they're 1 week younger than the others. That's how much the others grew in a week!
