My Journey to surf Again

That's so exciting! I love it when you think your weight will be high and the scale pleasantly surprises you. I hope you're surfing is going well. Congrats on the loss! :)

Thanks everyone! Since that time my weight has been going up and down from 164 to 161... frustrating but I know it will drop. :)

Today I did some clothes shopping and got me some new work pants (I work at a supermarket) and the old ones I had that were tight on me when I was 195 are waaaaaay too baggy. Switched those gross pants out and am now wearing tight work pants. More motivation to get myself in shape. I also got new running shorts and top (the top is a little tight to wear just yet) and I ran/walked for an hour and fifteen minutes around the neighborhood. When I got back my legs were like jelly and I felt like I was about ready to fall over but in all it was a nice change from doing the elliptical/treadmill.

I know I was doing the push-ups, but I decided to try getting myself into running shape first and lose more weight before I try doing push ups. I know it probably sounds like I'm avoiding it (which, I'm probably am) but I gotta get back into a routine before I pile too much on myself.

Wish me luck! :D

Good job Fox. Putting the push ups aside and focusing on running is a good move. A lot of us tend to stack workouts to the point where we're too overwhelmed during the first few weeks. Once that mindset kicks in, then comes the relapse.

Hi Fox! Aren't new pants great? They make such a big difference in your appearance. And I am also trying to avoid push-ups at the moment... I can only do girl ones, and not very many. I'd much rather be outside enjoying the fresh air!

Thanks, I'll keep what you said in mind. :D

I love throwing my "fat pants," away and wearing something slimmer. It shows just how far I've come in this journey. And push-ups are pretty tough for me, I can barley do one (my arms are like noodles). I think if I lost more weight and got closer to my goal weight my arms wouldn't have to lift so much of my upper body weight and it will be easier to start off in the long run. And being outside is awesome, a lot better than being like a hamster on a wheel, stuck doing one thing for an hour. ;)

I have a looooong work day today and my legs are still killing me from the exercise I did the other day. I have to hold off on my run/walk a little bit longer. I aim to do it again Sunday and my last day Tuesday.

:jump: On a brighter note, I got on the scale this morning and weighed in at 159.6lbs! I'm so glad that I don't have to see 60s lbs flash on that scale anymore. :jump:

Finally, my fi told me if I get to 155lbs I can do some clothes shopping... which makes me really, REALLY excited. It's only 4lbs to go and I will hit my first milestone. :D

Hey Summer,

Congrats on breaking into the 150s! Well done!

New work pants ... ah, I know that feeling! It's been a while though, I think February last year ... in the meantime the pants have been anywhere from "almost too big" to "I wonder if the button will pop if I breathe deeply", currently being "just right" ... but with a new job coming up (15 days to go, yay) I did indulge in a few lovely shirts that are just a little tight for me to shrink into - ah, such a nice feeling that today they already fit better than when I bought them last week! They should be just perfect by the time I start.

Berlin, luckily, is full of fabulous second hand shops so I didn't have to break the bank. And yes, it's a great place to live in and ich spreche Deutsch - I am German actually though I grew up at the other end of the country before spending the last 7 or so years in England and the US and Oz and not speaking German except with my parents, so now I do have a slight English accent apparently :). If you do make it to Berlin at some point though make it SUMMER!!! I've never had a colder and drearier winter than the last one! Plus, there's great street parties, festivals, open air concerts etc all summer long - great fun!

Last night was a disaster! I had subway earlier and knew after work my fi would be making hamburgers and hotdogs for the 4th, and I was suppose to be getting off late. However, work was sooooo slow that I got off earlier and came home and ended up eating a TON of food! UGH!!!

So, of course when I got on the scale this morning it read:
View attachment 21074 163.4lbs.
Now, this should drastically drop over the next couple of days and by the end of the week (if I stick to the strict diet I'm about ready to undertake) I should be right back where I was at yesterday.

It just kills me that I keep seeing the 60s, but yesterday was completely my fault. I should have had a salad for dinner, but I couldn't help it! But now I'm going to indulge in looking at cute clothes online and reading surf reports to re-pump myself into keeping to my schedule of losing weight.

If you've been following my recent entries I said I was running about three times a week. This past week I only ran twice, but it's better than not doing anything at all. This week I need to aim to start running 3 times a week. I will also be trying to eat lots of salads to counter-act all the junk food I ate last night. :ack2:

I also ate some homemade strawberry cake some days ago, but after doing that I also walked my dog for 1 more hour than the usual and I didn't feel any difference thanks to that walk I guess. I also drink quite often recently some strawberry homemade syrup (with water)

We all eat the wrong thing something, just need to make up for it I guess.

Thanks Benny, I have been trying to eat better (been having salads) but last night I had a McDouble and a McChicken and said to myself: "Okay, so you're eating bad and it's not that bad if you work it off now." So I went for an hour and a half run/walk and came back pretty tuckered out. Went to bed and woke up this morning and weighed in at 159.4lbs. This is killing me though because I keep seeing this magical number and I get all excited and than it goes away and I'm back up into the 60s. I gotta make sure I eat better today and that number stays the same. I NEED to be in the 50s for good.

I'm going up to Georgia to try on dresses for the upcoming wedding. I'm gonna be a little nervous because I'm the bridesmaids and trying on dresses and knowing I'm still not to my goal weight. I'm still a little meaty around the waist and booty and I will be trying on all these lovely dresses and gazing at myself, I know I'm gonna criticize myself a little bit... think to myself:

"Well, this dress is really pretty, but my underarms look pretty meaty when I have them down." Or "This dress is pretty cool, but my booty looks too big and it's like I'm purposely trying to signal everyone at the event that my ass is like a battering-ram." Or "My thighs, I can hardly walk in this thing because my thighs are still a little meaty."

But I know I lost a ton of weight so far and I can't let myself think that way! :banghead: I have to keep in mind that I look amazing and that I'm not that 195lb girl anymore.

I also know that the bride said she was gonna lose weight but hasn't (sadly enough, she's been struggling to lose weight for so long like I have) and I can't be smug or braggy about how much weight I lost. It's her special day and I gotta be the best I can be. :)

Anyway, rant over.

Stole this from Sunflower: ;)

"When I am skinny and sexy and awesome at life.."

What will you be doing?
I will be "out-of-my-frickin-mind," happy and be shopping for a new surfboard (preferably a 6'5 or a funboard).

Who will you be doing it with?
My little bro, my dad and my fi (or whoever will come with me).

Where will you be?
At QuietFlight, Surfhouse or Core Surf.

Will the motivation to exercise come naturally?
It's hard enough... ugh.

How will you feel when you're there?
I already explained this "feeling." ;)

What clothes will you be wearing- or not wearing ; ) ?
Whatever I feel like wearing at the time, idk:
'
'
'
'
Various clothes, maybe a tank tops with short/board shorts, maybe a hoodie because it will be Winter ([BRANDS]:Roxy, Quicksilver, Hurley, Billabong, Ripcurl, frickin whatever I can't predict the future).

My personal interview on losing weight

So, I get a TON of people who come up to me and comment on how much weight I lost so far and how I lost it. I'm kinda-of doing this to get my thoughts in line and to further motivate myself to lose more weight:

1. How much weight have you lost so far?
About 40lbs.

1.5. Where do you see yourself five months from today?
At my goal weight, feeling awesome and buying a wetsuit and new board to do a winter session.

2. What did you do to lose all this weight?
I ate healthy, plain and simple. And it helps working at a job where you are constantly on your feet and walking around doing things.

3. How did you start losing weight?
I started my weight-loss journey on January 10th. For the first couple of months (think it was about three) I just focused on eating healthier. I tried substituting junk food with salads, but I did it for breakfast. Than a few weeks later I switched up my lunch and soon it became my dinners too. Three months in I started working out on the treadmill, elliptical for a half-an-hour to an hour three times a week. Some weeks I would only work out twice and others I would switch it up and do four.

4. What tips can you give to people inspiring to lose weight?
Take it slooooooow. It really stinks when you change up your entire lifestyle in one day and after a day or two you lose the motivation to keep going because you're so overwhelmed with it all. Change has to come slowly in order for you to be successful.
I tell this to everyone, it's more about your mentality, the last quarter of it is the physical work. Also, try to be as "stress-free," as humanly possibly. I know in this day and age that is near impossible (bosses, family, relationships, kids, life in general) but you really gotta get in this "ZEN ZONE," and try to not let life get to you so much.

Stress is the number one thing that causes people to fall off the edge and give up on their current goals. Try to find a way to deal (or avoid the stress altogether) with the stressful stuff in a way that it doesn't affect you anymore. Have someone that loves drama and is constantly wrapped up in it and loves to share it with you? Avoid them. You will be far better off with your goal if you step away from all that crap and focus on YOURSELF. And if you have kids that are driving you nuts, get a friend, family member or whoever to babysit so you can get alone time each day to do your routine. YOU must come first, no matter what.

5. What motivates you to lose weight?
Number one thing is to surf again. I know I already went out and surfed already, but that event really SHOWED me how far away I was from my ultimate goal. I need to lose more weight and get in shape so the next time I paddle out I'm not struggling and feeling self-conscious. Another thing I do is shop for clothes, or look at magazines (SURFER, SURFING, SurfGirl, Salted, Foxhead/Roxy) and get myself pumped by seeing all these cool looking people that I want to look like.

Joining this forum really helped me though. If it wasn't for Weight-Loss forum I would really be struggling. I love reading peoples blog entrees and how people achieved their goal. It motivates me further because if they can do it (and most of the time they have lost more weight than I have) than I can do it too.

6. Ultimately, how much weight do you want to lose?
About another 35 to 40lbs.

7. Fianlly, how much do you want to weigh?
125 to 130lbs. So long as I look really good. :)

I'm bored, so I thought I'd upload some pictures of how far I've come in fitting into my boardshorts that I love so much:

View attachment 21077View attachment 21078
In January I couldn't pull them up above my knee, as you can see they are almost up to my waist! I just need to get that big booty slimmed down so I can actually wear them. I also measured around my waist with a piece of string and measured it out and I'm 37inches at my belly button. :D

This is a picture of me back in April that some of you saw already, but it's nice to look at them side-by-side and compare. And I KNOW it's not the best picture, but you can still see how BIG my belly was than compared to now. :p

Hey Fox! Hope you're doing well! :)
I'm doing good, except I GAINED about 3-4lbs!!! ARGH!!!!!!!
VERY frustrating, although it was completely my fault. I went to my Sister-In-Laws house to do shopping for the wedding and we ate out, A LOT. Came back home and I was 164lbs!
Thursday I'm gonna buy more diet food and get back on track. I just hope its not too late to get to 155 by the wedding date (Sept 21st). :(

I've had setbacks lately too, just going to forget about them now that I'm back on track!

155 for September 21st sounds manageable to me! You can do it!

What exercise are you doing? I just started weight training (45 minutes 5 times a week), and at the minute I'm trying to readjust my schedule to fit in enough cardio aswell.
