My Journey to surf Again

It always hard to say no at first but it feels so good once you get away from it and choose something healthier.

I know, before I would had jumped at the opportunity. My fi decided to run out late last night and grab something to eat and asked if I wanted anything. I asked if he pick me up a salad or a parfait, but that was a little too much so I didn't get anything.

So, what do you know? I woke up this morning and weighed in at 173.0lbs! Definitely a good out-come and I feel really good about my decision. I'm sure if I had that fast food I would be 174 or something, idk.

Worked out this morning, did the elliptical and treadmill and did more of the machines for my arms. Also got sunburned from sitting out in the sun, but its not bad, I really need to run out and get sunscreen...

Great job. I'm getting close to being in the 170's. its a great feeling to watch the numbers go down. I got 2lbs to go till goal 1 is met. Then it is off to goal 2.

Thanks! Today my fi and I just got the NES (Nintendo Entertainment System). We both love playing video games and we are stoked to have a classic console in the house. However, I felt the need to eat a lot of food today and I went to make myself a big plate of pigs-in-a-blanket and after heating them up I ended up dumping them in the trash and eating chicken and rice instead. It was tough, but I really felt like I had to do a reality check. :)

Today I weighed in at 173.2lbs, ugh, I hate when weight fluctuates! I just want to be in the 60s already! :D

This week my goal is to add 1 more day of workout, so instead of working out 3 times a week I will try to work out 4 days a week. Wish me luck!

Good luck on your extra workout. Soon you will be up to 7 days. And on days you don't workout you won't know what to do with yourself.

Thanks you two!

I'm sure that number will go down by the end of the week and be stuck at 172lbs, hopefully. I'm gonna workout Wed, Thur, Fri & Sunday. Hopefully this will all workout.

Just had my first "binge," today. I had the orange this morning, than salad and than dinner is where I crumbled. I had four slices of pizza, a Klondike bar, some potato chips and a beer. UGH!!! :flame:

Just got back from the gym today and it went great! Did my usual routine... 1 day down, 3 more to go! :)

I didn't bother to weigh myself today because I know from last night I wouldn't like the numbers I saw. :willy_nilly:

Great job on the exercise! After I've had a bad day or two, I usually wait until I've been back on track for a few days to weigh myself, so the number isn't so bad. Makes me feel better. lol!

Yesterday was a REALLY nice day! I went to the gym, sat by the pool and read some magazines (SURFER, Foxhead, Roxy) and than ran to the beach. My back got a little sunburned, but only because I stayed out a little bit longer than I should of. I also walked a mile down to the pier and back and I can't wait to get my tan back! I gotta get back on the surfboard and start paddling around as well.

When I mentioned the waves at the beach and how someone tried to go out with a short board, he should had taken a fun board or a long board at least, they were small and a little rough. I should had taken my longboard, but, once again the waves were small and I guess I was trying to make up excuses to not try paddling out.
But my dad said this:

"Every good surfer goes out every day. If there are no waves whatsoever, you gotta just paddle around so when a good day does come, you are fit and ready to catch them."

I can just imagine myself, bringing my longboard and just paddling around, people laughing at me from the shore... But I might give it a shot. The last time I tried paddling out was 2012, my brother and I (who also surfs) went out and I tried taking the longboard out, and I couldn't paddle over the waves. I looked and felt like a complete fool and I came into the shore and nearly broke down and cried. I used to be able to easily paddle out and catch waves, one day I paddled out the waves (no joke) were up to my knee, and I caught five that day while my little brother got none. Sure, they weren't really nothing to anybody else, but it was sort of a challenge between us and I remember just how easily I got up and just caught one after another after another.

I should take my dad's advice to heart and go to the beach...
But I have laundry sitting in the wash, and I still gotta hit up the gym this morning, if somehow I can managed to get myself to the beach with my longboard and give it a go before I went to work. Hmm... decisions, decisions.

Just got back from the gym! Did the elliptical for an hour, a half-an-hour in I did the "Hill Plus," settings and burned 615 calories!!! Than, I jumped on the treadmill and did 13 mins, ran at 3.5 for five minutes and did cool down for three mins. I feel pretty accomplished today, but now I gotta run and eat a salad and whatever else so I'm not starving myself. :D

Nice works and nice graphics Fox! Nothing wrong with paddling out and not catching a wave. The last time I attempted and outing I had to borrow a triple finned short board that was completely submerged with me on it. Talk about tough to paddle. I did it and caught a couple laying on the board and ate it a few times trying to stand up on a stupid small board, but I did it. I live in a part of Texas that is a 5 hour drive to the ocean so when I was at Huntington Beach I was going to try to surf. Even being >300 pounds without a suitable board and zero practice for years. I'm sure people thought I was a goon, but so what.

You'll only hear the laughs from the shore while your on it. Wouldn't you rather hear those waves instead? I can't imagine a better inspiration for you than floating on that board hearing those sounds. Keep at it and you'll be surfing again and anyone who's seen you might get inspired themselves.

Did you have fun at least? I SHOULD had gone yesterday, but I would had to fix up a board rack on my truck somehow... ugh. And today my fi has the truck all day, sigh. But last night I watched Chasing Mavericks (really corny movie, it's no Point Break) and it kinda pumped me up. The movie was good and very inspiring (yes, I just said it was corny, lol), so I really can't wait to get back into the ocean.

Just got back from the gym, did the elliptical for a half-an-hour. Than did the machines and finished it all up with a half-an-hour on the treadmill. Fixing to go sit out in the sun, and I finally got sunblock. :D

Heck yeah I had fun and I can say I went surfing at Huntington Beach. Sure I didn't catch any waves, but I went.

Point Break came out the same month I turned 16. I saw that movie while staying with relatives on the Gulf of Mexico. I surfed an old Hobie longboard on my birthday on Mustang Island and drove myself to Mexico the next day. That was a good birthday. That was almost 22 years ago. Do you know what I remember about what I didn't do back then? Nothing!

If you want to watch a really cheesy surf movie checkout North Shore (1987). The main character wins a surf contest in a wave tank in Arizona and uses the winnings to go surf on Oahu. It's pre Point Break and not nearly as good. I enjoyed it as a 12 year old so it must be bad.

Hey fox thanks so much for stopping by my diary:) means a lot:) you sound like u are getting on brill! woop woop keep it up:)

Thanks!

Just got back from the gym, did the elliptical for an hour, and did Hill Plus for the last half, burned about 469 calories. Got my 4 days of exercise! :D

I had another night of binge eating last night. Family came over and we all ended up eating a load of pizza (think I had three slices) along with hot wings and I had 1 beer. All the food tasted terrible but I still ate it anyway. :puke:

Today I'm gonna focus on eating healthy again and chill. IDK if I should hit the gym up or if I should give myself a day of rest today. Hmm... think I will not go to the gym this morning, but maybe later on. I wanted to go to the beach but its not very sunny out today.
