My Big Fat Journal

Well, you're on the road to a whole new you....so dyeing your hair might be something you want to start doing again. It's amazing even when my roots start showing it makes me look totally different. I get this kind of dull blah look about me. Then I dye it and boom.....completely revigorated! Weird huh that a $6 bottle of dye can do so much.

Fifth grade????? Did you have alot of homework?

No, just a bad childhood. I actually always liked it. It is just that I am older now and it is less interesting on an older person....it is just a sign of age now. Get back to you own diary. What have you been doing?

Once I stopped I really liked the freedom of not having to having to do it, but I haven't had a good cut in years. I was finding that nobody could cut my hair right. I could pay 100.00 or 12.00 and no matter what it was all the same. My hair is curly, but not curly enough to just be wild and curly without looking a mess, but curly enough that it looks like I never brush it. I always wear it up at work, but I would like some variety. Now that I am older, the gray is staring to bother me. I keep thinking I look fairly young, but the gray probably makes me look older than need be. Bottom line. I need a doo!

Too bad you don't live near me (or do you? your location is as vague as mine) My hair stylist is a goddess!! Love her.

Thanks for your comment in my diary! I love that people understand the pain of taking before pictures! You're right, I shouldn't let it get me down. I will use the pain I felt seeing them to motivate me like nothing else!! Hope you had a great day!!

:)

Manaloa, I am in Michigan. But would drive quite a ways for a good haircut. I am about 1.5 hours from Chicago. Where are you?

HF, I'm going to a wedding reception today---well, a "commitment ceremony" after party Luau! I'm going to stare at those pictures of myself before I go to remind me not to eat the cake!!! Maybe "commitment ceremony" cake won't be as good as wedding cake. I doubt it. I just love cake! I'll probably just have a bite of someone else's to taste it. If I have to have those pics around, I am going to use them to my advantage! I also plan to eat a huge salad before I go and drink a ton of water so I won't feel hungry when I go there. Put a smorgasbord in front of me when I'm hungry and it's all over!

I may think about coloring my hair again, Scar Scar. I will just have to find the right color---I don't care for some of the dye jobs I see on people. I wonder what I would look like as a blond? I used to wear a blond wig just for fun every once in awhile when I was in my 20's. I don't think I am a blond though...I'll have to dig up a pic of me in the wig. If I can ever figure out how to post them. I'm getting frustrated. HF helped me make the pics small so they can be posted, but then they are too hard to see. How do people get those big pics posted? I'm a nerd...and not in a good way like a computer nerd.

Well, I should get going. Need to shave my legs for the Luau! Thanks for stopping by everyone. Keep you fingers crossed for me and the cake. We have a very dysfunctional relationship, me and that cake!

GOOD LUCK!!! Just look at your pictures... if they're anything like mine you won't want any cake... well, maybe just a little!;) I love cake too!:)

I'll pm you with some more picture posting ideas! ;)

Have fun at the wedding....great plan for the big salad and loads of water first so that you'll be full. That is BRILLIANT!!!!!!

And yes yes YES on digging out the picture in the blond wig. I so want to see that. We'll help you get pictures up here. No worries.

Have lots of fun today, I know you are going to look saucy at that luau!!! Aloha!!!

Hey, Pineola!! Yeah, it would be quite the drive for you. I live in Nebraska. That's like a 9 hour drive. Quite a bit for just a haircut. LOL

I use IrfanView to size my pics. I think it's super easy to use.

Good God and there's me getting my mums hair dresser to give me a quick trim every 4 weeks! I think the most I've ever had done to my hair is have highlights put in it! I do remember in high school once I bought a bottle of hair dye and tried to do my own highlights. I turned out with these sodding great red (and I'm not talking ginger, I really mean RED) streaks through my hair! It was a total disaster! Needless to say I've been wary of highlights since then but my hair is so horrid and frizzy just now (think it's the swimming and resulting tangled hair). Maybe I should go back to going to a decent shop to have my hair done. Hope you're having a good weekend so far!;)

When I was in school I had fairly light blonde hair, but I was into Oasis and Britpop, and wanted dark hair so I dyed it dark brown. My mum hated it and thought I looked washed out. I got sick of the roots eventually (I looked like a skunk with light roots :D ) so I went bleached blonde, and looking back now :p it looked bad, especially as my hair went really thin. I was dying it a more natural blonde, but recently decided to shake things up and go dark again. That faded withing a few weeks and now my hair actually matches my roots!!! So now I am leaving it a natural dark blonde, and like you I find it sooooo freeing to not have to dye it. Oh, and I have never had my hair professionally cut. It is long and straight and my mum trims it in her kitchen, hubby did it once, and last time I cut it myself!!

I hope you did good at the commitment ceremony, I went to a wedding yesterday aswell. Keep up the top job ;)

Good Morning.

The Luau went well. I was a little worried as I did have a very small pc of the cake and some potato salad, but I loaded up on fruits and veggies that they had and some lean meat. When I added it all up I was under 1700 so all is good. I also went swimming and got pulled around on some sort of rubber raft with my niece by a jet ski. We laughed so hard we both pee'd our pants. We got bounced off of it and about drowned because we were laughing so hard. It was also about 99 degrees so I probably sweat out about 3lbs of fluids. I really need to drink a ton of water today.

Plan for next week and the challenge is to keep eating right and go directly to the gym after work. Do not pass go, do not collect $200.00 God, I hope it cools down. I feel so lumpy when it is hot like this.

I'm torn about the hair thing, Mrs. Bear. To dye, or not to dye...that is the question. Crunchie, I think red striped hair sounds kind of cute.

Man, that is too far for a hair cut!

Scarlett, I found a pic of me in the blond wig. It is hysterical...I must have been drunk or something. My tongue is hanging out. Hf2006 showed me how to post so I will scan it and leave it for you a bit later.

Take care, and have a wonderful Sunday.

Glad you did well yesterday! I'm happy that my directions worked for you!!! I want to see the blonde wig too!!! :)

Oh the fun of hair colour! Mine has been blonde, black, brown, red, red and black at the same time ... you name it. It is currently a lovely shade called "Violet Brown". What can I say, I get bored! :)

Have a great time at the ceremony. I know you will keep everything under control!

OOOOhhhh!
I want to the see the picture of the you, the blond wig and your tongue hanging out too!!!

Glad to hear that the luau went well, and good for you for stocking up on the vegies & fruit!

:D But shouldn't you get the $200 for going!!

You did great at the Luau by the sound of it. As far as the hair thing goes, take a leap. You are making a new you so have a cut and a dye .... if you decide you prefer the natural look, it will grow out. ;)

Wow. The luau sounds like fun. Swimming and jet skiing. I've never done anything like that about. I'm glad you had fun and you were totally in control. :) Good luck with the 2 week challenge and the exercising! :D

Oh! And I know what you mean about hair cuts... Mine is getting shaggy... And not in the good way. Have you asked your close friends for good salons & hairstylists they could recommend?

Hey Pineola,
How are you? I had to read a lot to catch up, and like everyone else I have mixed feelings and experiences with hair coloring. I'm too lazy to do anything other than trim it now, plus I've started sort of "harvesting" it for Locks for Love (charity that makes wigs for kids with cancer) so every time it gets long enough to cut 13 inches off, I do. But they won't take colored hair, so that's my excuse.

I think keeping to 1700 calories on a day that includes any kind of party is great, so GOOD WORK! Keep chugging along, you're doing great!

Hey Piney, glad the luau went well....sounds like a good time. And good eating too, proud of ya sister!!!!

And thanks for the piccie....I LOVED IT!!!!!!
