MrsKT's Weight Loss Journey

Ugggh. I've been MIA a bit myself. Oops... Just keep focusing on you :) halfway to the recovery line, yayyy!

Hi Mrskt20,

I'm sorry you have so much on your plate right now and haven't been feeling well. Get lots of rest for the next half of your recovery, take it easy, get lots of water in. I'm sure you want to be a stickler with your diet but if you have a few comfort snacks here and there its not a big deal, you will burn them all off once your fully recovered. I'm hoping you start to feel better really soon!

Ok, I have decided to join Weight Watchers. My mother is joining with me. She joined over 20 years ago and lose 70lbs. I am scared but excited. I am have always lose weight on my own but I know I need more help now.

I loved WW, the support is great and the meetings are helpfull because people usually share tip that helped them , also i found seing the change in other people from week to week is great motivation!!

That's so good Verobc. :hurray: I couldn't finish a min ago bc my boss came in my office but I finally got on the scales and I am back up to 191. I am not very sad. I am just ready to do something about it. I don't have a whole lot of money but they are running a special and I can join for like $40 a month. My mom said she will help me with the food. I needed that comment so much. I told my husband and he started out saying neg stuff but he stopped his self and said just do what ever you feel you have to. I go to my first meeting Monday. I'm trying to eat right this week and walk every day so I can make this week count as well. I'm just ready to be a better me!!!

Hi, I just came across your diary and wanted to give you a shout! I know it is hard getting that body back, but you know the more you work at it, the better it gets and the closer you get. Even when I wasn't shedding the pounds like I thought I should and stayed the same, I felt better because I was working out, and I did see suttle changes that others seemed to notice more than I did.

You tell your husband, "Honey, I need your support, if you can't give me that, then just keep you mouth shut, and when I'm done, victoria's secret is on you!"

Now, let him watch you work.

LOL, Love it Njoyabl, I will tell him that. Thank you. And thank you for reading my diary.

Hi diary! Not much going on today. I just had my Cheerios with skim milk and took my meds. I am having a turkey sandwich on wheat for lunch. I have a apple and popcorn for snacks. I am still very excited about joining WW. I get to sign up online tomorrow (pay day). I can't wait to get started. I've been reading all the information I can on their site. My husband asked, how will this be different from anything else or any other diets and I told him I don't know but we will see. My mom said it was the best thing she ever did for herself. She said she gained a group of friends from her WW meetings. She said WW empowered her and gave her the tools to be who she has always wanted to be. My mother grew up in a very small southern town and all her family was obese, her neighbors were obese, and alot of her friends were too. If a person was thin they were said to just have good genes. So being bigger was just a way of life, she thought. Well My mom and dad got married and moved away from the small town. She saw a huge difference. She felt different. I think the words she used were "out of place". So one day while at work one of her co-workers asked her if she wanted to go to a WW meeting with her. My mom said no at first. She told her co-worker she really wasn't trying to lose weight. Well her co-worker said, "don't go to lose weight then, go to get healthier" and that was something no one ever said to my mom (get healthy). Well she went and found out she was almost 300lbs (my mom never owned a scale before weight watchers). She was so upset at first. I remember when she came home and talked to my dad (I was 8). She said she thought it was a scam and that they made people think they weighed more than they did. So my dad told her to buy her own scale and she did. And to her surprise, the number didn't change. Well she went to the next WW meeting and the rest is history. She lose over 75lbs and reached her goal weight. She has never gained all her weight back. She has gained some. She was a member of WW over 20 years ago.
My mom shared that story with me a couple of days ago. I didn't know all the details but i do remember the emotional parts of my mom’s weight loss. My mom said she didn't want to raise my sister and me with the same bad eating habits she was raised with. But my mother is a wonderful woman and she inspires me so much. I am so glad we are going to do this together. Our weight lose goals are very different but we both want to be as healthy as possible.

That story about your mother is very inspiring. A SCAM! A scam it is with all these tasty fast food restaurants portraying that they have good food that is good for you! I definitely felt like there was some sort of conspiracy against me when I stepped on the scale and it revealed how much I weighed, more shocked at how much I had gained in a month's time. So it is great that you have someone so special in your life that has already been through it, and knows the struggles and you have that one on one with each other. Keep it the good work. Good luck with WW.

Thank you for sharing that story about your mom. I can imagine how bad it felt when she saw the number on her home scale was the same as WW. That must have been a heart breaking moment. Good for her for deciding to do something about it! Hope it's everything you are hoping to get from it too!

Hey MrsKT! I loved the story about your mom - reminds me a lot of my family. My mom and I struggled with our weight together for many years - trying all kinds of different programs together. Herbal Magic, atkins, WW and now again WW - we found this was the most practical and not as strict. My mom has stayed the same weight for many years now - she will lose 10 pounds and then gain it back. I was always the same size as her and we could share clothes (size 14/16) and then just until recently I've lost more weight and kept it up and continue losing so now I'm smaller than her. I think it's motivating her because she just joined back again. It's great to have family support and the feeling of knowing she is getting healthier makes it all worth while.
So glad to have you back and look forward to reading more!!

Thanks Njoyabl! It's so funny to me because i was only 8 years old and I can remember like it was yesterday when my mom came home after that meeting. She was so angry. She kept saying "I know I don't weigh that much!" But that's the good and bad thing about our shapes. We can pack on the pounds and still seem to look a little smaller then we are. I dread stepping on that scale but i pretty much know what it will say. I'm just ready to start seeing the numbers falling again.

Lisa, I have really been on an emotional rollercoaster with my weight and you know that from reading my diary. But my mom has been right by my side trying to encourage me to stay healthy. I have been pretty thin all my life and gradually gaining weight after having my last 2 kids (10lbs with my 2nd child and 25 with my 3rd). I had so many people tell me that I won't lose the weight. That I'm supposed to be bigger because I'm older and a mother now (I think that's a southern cultural thing) but I know that's not true and I know that my current weight is not healthy for me. I'm currently wearing (12/14) and my mom is wearing (18/20). She is planning to use a pair of my jeans as her goal pants. I think that is so cool! I have my favorite pair of jeans (size 6) from 7 years ago as my goal pants. We are ready to go. Oh and I am glad to be back. Thanks Lisa! :blush5:...

It was hard for her Mizzie but it was also a wake up call and some times we need that. My mom transformed after she started WW. Not just by losing weight, but everything. She was so much happier and I believe she's the reason I love exercising. My mom would walk the track everyday like her life depended on it and my sister and I would go with her. She also would do tae bo. It was so much fun. Thanks so much for stopping by Mizzie!

Hi Mrskt20,

What an inspiring story about your mom. It must be so nice to have someone by your side to support you on your weight loss journey. I am really glad to hear that you will be joining WW together to continue being there for eachother and getting healthy together. Just think that down the road you will be telling your own children your own weight loss story and they will be just as proud of you as you are of your mom. I am sorry to hear that you have been on an emotional rollercoaster, but I am really glad to hear that you are hanging in there and are ready to prove everyone and their negativity wrong and change your life for the better. We are here for you and I look forward to seeing you suceed! I know you can do this!

Went to my first WW meeting yesterday and it was great. My beginning weight was more but I expected that because the meeting is at 6 in the afternoon and I had my clothes and shoes on. I always weigh first thing in the morning. My stating weight will be 194.5. I am not even upset about it. My WW leader was so energetic and inspiring that I had no time to think about the weight I have gained in these last couple of months. I have 25 points to use every day and believe me, I am trying to use them wisely. I have started exercising 30-40 minutes a day (walking with my mom) and I want to start trying to get up 10 minutes early to do my 10 min total body workout before work. Today I have had:
Banana 2pts
Turkey sandwich on whole wheat bread 4pts
Wendy's small chili 4pts
4 saltine crackers 1pt
2 bottles of water 0pts
4oz of diet coke 0pts
Meal plan for the rest of the day:
apple for a snack 1pt
Smart on lasagna 6pt
mixed green salad 0pts
4 tbs fat free catalina dressing 1pt
Total of 19pts so I may put croutons on my salad to add 1 or 2 points. I hope everyone is having a great week!

Good job...When I first joined WW I found my first couple of weeks a bit difficult but once you get the portion size down and don't have to calculate over and over ( why didn't I just write the point value on the box in the first place) Once you get used to it since there really no restriction other then the point value I find it easyer, you can still treat yourself and loose weight, no guilt trips! I am glad you enjoyed your first meeting and I am looking forward to seing the great results you will have!
