MoonGoddess's Path

jeez. always good to come back here to negative rep...(& the one who left it knows who he is - I actually do get BREAKS at work you know.) oh well. Glad I have good supportive friends like you all to keep me going.

I'm having a great day so far, maybe not so much food or exercise wise, but I just had a great session with my hair guru & my blonde is shining bright again... tonight the Marine & I are celebrating Christmas/Solstice before we both leave town to see our families tomorrow. We are treating ourselves to something yummy that I don't have to go through a drive thru to get or do dishes afterward.

I ended up getting around to some last minute gift getting & survived the chaos better than I thought I would have. Even treated myself to some bright red nail polish while I was in Ulta. That place is an adult's candy store. All the lil bottles of this & that to smell or wear. Course now that I have it on, I feel a lil goofy. I'm usually more of a light pink kinda gal.

Going to go try & do some yoga before he gets here. My therapist has suggested I try it again, so why not?

Just in case I don't get back on before Wednesday...

HAPPY HOLIDAYS to everyone! :santa:

I never really understood the whole rep thing anyway. I've been around a lot of boards and none of them use a rep system for posts.

It doesn't look like the neg hurt ya though, with all those points, it'd take a lot to take you down.

oh man... I just want to hug that dog to pieces! Too cute. Looks cold though.. might need a hug. :)

So I'm back from visiting the family. I took a break from really watching what I ate & even weighing myself & wearing the pedometer. I admit I barely exercised other than normal stuff like walking the dogs & dishes & cooking.. unless you count the stress of dealing with my mother's lil "suggestions" on ways I could be doing things better. After my making Thanksgiving a touch healthier (losing some of the extra butter in stuff that didn't need it), she somehow managed to keep me from making much of anything.. whatever. I was really to scream. Soooo glad to get back home today! Was nice to see them but small doses are much better I think. Plus everything was just weird with trying to arrange times around so many schedules. My sister's new husband's family made a big stink about them being with them this year, so we did Christmas on Christmas eve. Then instead of the nice sit down meal with all the food in nice serving dishes on the table, we did it buffet style straight from the pots in the kitchen. Ended up everyone got their food at different times & it just didn't feel the same. More like leftovers rather than the feast. guess that could be why I didn't even want seconds on anything.

I got myself a gift today for making it through... a new heart rate monitor... ok my FIRST heart rate monitor! I can't wait til it arrives! I know its not a magic bullet, but just knowing I will have one, makes me excited to see how often I do get in the zone I need to be! :D I know goofy gadget girl....

Oh well... back to reality, tis time to start that new years resolution thing early. Get back on track & really focus on getting healthy. Moving more to burn those calories & get in shape.

if a gadget helps you out and gives you incentive to move - rock on with your bad self :)

oooh attach the heart rate while having some fun time with the marine and see what happens :) Call it an experiment for Maleficent :) enquiring minds want to know the effectiveness of said gadgets :D

OOOH!!! Hadn't even thought of that yet!!! Cool! Will have to do!

Wonder which will arrive first? He's down in Florida visiting his family, lucky devil dog. I wish I was spending these days somewhere nice & warm.

Boy did my scale remind me this morning how getting off track will get me into trouble fast! yikes! I bounced up 4 pounds! Some could be water/sodium fluctuation, daily junk whatever..but dang that stunk to see it rise that much. But I knew I wasn't being good by not moving hardly at all & not really watching what I ate at all.

So on to reality & exercise!

I tracked food yesterday, so I didn't hit the candy bowl & thankfully all cookies, pies, sausage cheese balls, etc stayed at my parents' house so no temptation there. With driving home yesterday morning & going straight into work since there was a wreck that made the drive longer than I thought it would be...I didn't get to work out like I wanted. I wore the pedometer & walked 15 minutes after I got home, but over all I was pooped & just crashed.

So today will be better. I just need to get in more better days this week. It will happen. I will lose these holiday grinches & they can take a few more pounds with them!

sorry to hear bout the 4 lbs chick. but it is the holiays and lots of ppl have prolly gained more ;) dont worry too much u will get it back off! But u gotta stick to it girlie :)

thank goodness the holidays are only once a year ehh? It's hard not to indulge...but now is a good time to put the breaks on and not wait until the 1st. Sounds like you got things under control. I think what we should do instead of getting upset for eating bad during this time is just work out more...I know...easier said than done.

Let's hit the gym!!

Hey there, Boy we should throw those scales away lol!
No need to worry a couple weeks of hard work we,(I) will be right where we left off at and then some.Hope you had a nice Christmas,Tammy

Way to avoid temptation and stay motivated with gadgets. You remind me to get out my pedometer. What's your goal with your pedometer? I need to start over. Maybe set a goal of 5000 steps a day or something. p.s. nice to meet you though I've seen you before, I've just been gone a while and blew my maintenance! Was down to 180, now 190 again. Starting over.

Sounds like I am so not alone in slipping a little...

Now we all just need to get back on track for 2008. I did good yesterday food wise. I really wanted to just go thru a drive thru on the way home & be done with it, but I made myself go to the grocery store since I also needed to do laundry & needed detergent to do that. I picked up a steak & some broccoli & rice for dinner & stocked up on quick veggies(canned & frozen). Hopefully this will keep me away from the stuff that isn't so great for me. Just takes some work.

Mal's tip for the day :)

Ziplock baggies are your best friend...

Stick a chicken breast, a turkey fillet, some beef, a pork tenderloin, in your perfect portion size... throw in a marinade of your choice (garlic, lemon or lime juice, garlic, garlic, white wine, garlic, or one of the prepacakged marinades -some of them aren't bad at all... and stick it in the freezer - one economy package of chicken breasts will net about 4 ziplock bags or so...

On your way out to work in the morning - pull one baggie from freezer and let defrost in fridge... when you get home from work - cook in toaster oven broiler, george foreman grill, whatever... add vegetable... and dinner is served... :D

cut up some veggies and put those in the baggies as well and you can pull those out and sautee or roast or steam or whtever when the meat is cooking :)

I'm such a busy body :D

Random celebration of the day....

I actually have eaten enough fiber for the day & its only lunch time! Sweet! I have been struggling prior to the vacation temptation dilemma to get the recommended 25-35 grams per day....& now I have gotten to 25 for the day already!

Moral of the story... eat LOTSA veggies & fruit. Skip the eggs for breakfast for the waffles...even though the egg biscuits taste much better.

ok back to reality... get to moving.

First off, thank you so much for the rep, that was very kind of you! It's not the rep (number) that I ever look at, it's the nice comment you get from someone special when you least expect it, that really makes my day, that's how I feel about the whole rep system. I look forward to 2008 in such a big way! I was doing so darn well up to December, then the powers that be put some obstacles in my way, and OH BOY watch out, it just puts your whole routine in a stop mode. I'm hoping to see you in the next challenge, as I have a feeling the next one that comes along is going to be full of great people who are ready to shed some pounds, me included. LOL LOL

Good luck to you this weekend, try to stay away from those drive thru's I just see flashes of calories when I get near one of those things. YUK! I think Mal's idea of zip lock bags is perfect! We grill A LOT even in the winter and I never thought of doing it that way before. She is so damn creative isn't she?

I wish you and your family a very HAPPY AND SAFE NEW YEARS
HUGS
Kim

Thanks, I agree its the comments not the points...

& that Mal's zip lock tip is pretty amazing. Funny how you just need things pointed out to you so that you can see them. I plan on picking up some yummy marinate & chicken on the next trip to the store. Or who knows I might get creative & mix up my own stuff....

Just watch a lot of those mass produced marinades - the lawrys are quite tasty but a lot of them have HFCS as a key ingredient... there's another brand that I'm drawing a blank on the name that cmes in a square plastic bottle with each flavor having a different colored top... that are really good...

oh yummy...

the sodium in a lot of them doesn't bother me so much because yo figure you toss out most of the marinade anyhow... :D one of my little delusions :D
