MoonGoddess's Path

Well so far so good today. Eating isn't derailed yet & I have two meals out of the way. Tomorrow is going to be a doozey. Evidently I am a chex mix champ (I don't add the filler stuff like peanut, pretzels.. just the chex & I usually double the butter & spices). Every year a few friends beg me to make some & bring it in to the office where we graze on it for a few days, then whine how its all gone. Why this is a once a year thing is beyond me since you can get the ingredients year round but whatever.

So this year a few friends are coming over tomorrow night for a Chex Mix/ Craft night... but now the craftiness has been dropped & replaced by pizza, cocoa, wine, & who knows what else they have planned. All of it centering around food & watching Rankin Bass holiday shows. Sounds fun, but a dieter's nightmare. Ug. These its just one night deals are adding up! :santa:

Oh & its official. we broke the heat record for the day... now at 79 degrees & sweating!

Oh I love homemade chex mix - I know you can get it in the store, but it's so much better home made... and I tend to only make it at the holidays... but I add extra worcesteshire sauce... :D

yeah the trick is to get enough of the "juices" to have enough to coat almost all the cereal pieces....

The stuff is more addictive than crack. mmmmmmmmmmm.
course I would love it if there was a sodium free version that tasted the exact same.

I love chex mix. I can never eat just a little either. I think I would like your recipe a lot MG. I always just liked the cereal pieces and the spices anyway, who needs the peanuts and other stuff that usually goes into it.

Your night with your friends sounds like a lot of fun, esp. the wine. I love my wine, hehehe.

The holidays are so hard to keep the eating on point. I am probably just going to be white-knuckling it here next week and the week after. I guess just getting to the gym and making sure I bust ass on my workouts, and probably doing extra cardio will help some. I'm right there with you Moon. :)

Take care,
Sam

oh man... I just realized the first weight in date for my birthday challenge is next week. I was WAY too optimistic with setting that goal. Oh well. Need to adjust my goals again.

I just started tracking cholesterol on Sparkpeople & am amazed at how high stuff is. I don't know how anyone is expected to get all the healthy levels of stuff. I can't really seem to find a way to balance protein, fat, fiber, calories, etc. Who knows. Maybe one day...

Last night was great. I discovered that when the pizza place screws up your order & replaces the cheese with pepperoni & you end up drinking a bit more wine, you don't really care to pig out when the one you ordered FINALLY arrives. Could have been that everyone else gave up & pigged out on the mistake one so then it was just me eating, no peer pressure eating. Also if you are making chex mix & serve the cheese dip & chips while doing so, they will be devoured by the time you get back to the couch, which is a great way to save calories. I even did good by only having about 4 handfuls of the chex mix since we were talking so much.

Gotta love a good girl night now & then.

Also I woke up to some segment on the Today show where they compared food choices to show which was a better choice. They showed a bagel with cream cheeese compared to TWO egg McMuffins & the two egg mcmuffins won. They were only (* & I love how they say ONLY.. ) 600 calories, while the bagel was more. Weird. My growling stomach was like ok lets go get one! So I did. ONE. Without the meat on it so it was even less. I so needed that this morning. I might make it through the day.

the calories in a single bagel from places like Dunkin Donuts are astouding -it sounds like its a healthier choice and if you discount the calories it probably is) but it's really no wonder that we have such weight issues..

Was the McMuffin McTasty? I'm not sure i've had one of thosse in forever..

It's nice to splurge on a breakfast once in a while. We're always worried about dinners out but I remember staying up all night with the BF when we lived together and watching the sun rise from the couch on the enclosed porch. We would then take a ride to Panera Bread where I would get a Four Cheese Baked Egg Souffle and a Chai Tea Latte. 660 calories total in that breakfast but it was nice just to sit by the fireplace there and enjoy the morning. We would then go home and go to sleep, skipping lunch, so I stretched those calories out till dinner!

In an effort to not be any worse of an influence I will say "nah.. wasn't that good". But in my head (& my belly), I'm going to go with the slogan of "I'm lovin' it!"

& Cats... I think EVERYTHING is better in front of a fire place. Course with the weather we have been having, it would melt before getting near my mouth. I wanted to light a log last night just for atmosphere, but we had to just stick with the lights from the tree & a few candles since it was still mid 70s. I'm so sick of the warm december BS. Can't we just share some of this warm with everyone who is getting this harsh cold weather, kinda balance it all out?

that's the only way its going to happen, by me making it work. No one can live happily ever after on prepackaged portion & taste controlled "food".

.....& how friggin cute is it that Jack is now dating Dale from Top Chef? I was worried about him after he had to leave the show last night & did some googling only to find he might not have won, but he got the Bravo hook up!

He's got a fireplace in his condo. We've been making smores. We also pickup one of those 'festive' duralogs. Kind of dissapointing. I guess i was expecting magical colored flames. Only the log gives of a bit of color.

It's been cold off and on here. We had some snow then it got up in to the 50's and the snow melted away. Now it's getting cold again and they're saying we may get more snow this weekend. But i do feel bad for the people stuck in the ice storm. I saw a picture in an article online where a couple was cooking chicken on an outside fire because they had no electricity!

bummer about the colored log. I just picked up one of those & am ready to try it first chance I get.

....I promise to refrain myself from even getting the ingredients to make smores.. Chex mix addiction is bad enough, if I started those up I might not stop til March! :D

I saw that they were dating in the paper... and it got an AWWWWWWW>... :D

So I just got done with a therapy session & think its going to help. Feels good so far, not comfortable but good.

I feel more relaxed, course that is all about to change since the parents have decided to come down to see my Christmas tree & see how I'm doing since they found out I have 2 days off. grrrreat. The joys of a 3 hour buffer! Could be good I guess. Just unexpected. & Christmas is right around the corner so its not like I'm not going to see them soon. I always get nervous when they decided to pop over unplanned. Wonder what's up.

But until then I am going to enjoy the day & hopefully, not screw that hopefully shit, I WILL get in some treadmill time & maybe that last weight session for the challenge.

I also picked up a turkey breast to roast (heck they want to do holiday time why not?) so I have lunch covered tomorrow in a healthy way at least. Plus they were on sale cheap & it was only 3 pounds. :) Kinda cute lil turkey.
