Momma4alex’s adventures in surprising my man….

Howdy MOM4,
Wow way to go on 4+ lbs that is such a motivator
and self confidence booster!Hope this weigh in turns out as good as
this 1.Have a gr8 day,Tammy

Congrats on those 4.2 pounds Heather:)

It must be soo satisfying to see such great results. Keep up the great work. I bet in 8 months your husband will be wonderfully surprised at how amazing you look.

Thanks tammy and Boam46, its really motivating to see the scale go down and also feel my clothes getting looser on me. I am hoping by the time i see my hubby again i will be able to wear at least a size 18 if not smaller by then. my goal is to get into at least a 10/12 by the time i am finished losing weight.

Howdy M4,
I love the goals you set for yourself,They are realistic rather than a fairy tale goal like a size 0-4 lol I know I will never be that size no weigh 120 so I set mine for 150 size 8-10 I will be saisfied and happy!
Your doing great and to push ya a little more go to a 2nd hand store and maybe buy a cuite pair of jeans or pants a size or 2 small and work to fit into them, thats what I did I still have those size 10's lyinng in my room just dieing to get into!! Have a gr8 day Tammy

Hi Tammy,
You know i think we both have very similar goals as far as size goes. right now i have a pair of my old size 24 that are still tight on me and want so badly to get back into them and be able to wear them without the tightness around the belly and stuff. I also have a pair of my mom's old jeans that she can't wear anymore that i would love to be able to fit into they are size 16 i think. they maybe 18's but either way i would love to fit into them by december if possible. that would mean i am well on my way to being back into a size that i was when i met my hubby.
hope your having a great day. i know i need to work out hard tonight after dinner since we had spagetti and 1 piece of french bread. although no soda just water all day long. so that's good for me.

HI Heather,
Congrats on no soda. I think that was the first thing I cut out of my diets way back when (one of my failed attempts in the past..).

I also think your goals are realistic. I was really happy when I fit into my 6-8 clothing and that is what I am shooting for.(whatever pounds I will be at the time). Also when I set up my ticker, I set it up for mini-goals (I was not posting here at the time). I went from 200-180 first, then when I reached 180 I had such a satisfaction to push my ticker out to 160!!!. When I got in the 160's, I finally set it up to be the final amount I wanted to reach!!
Since it has taken my such a looong time (my fault) I found it easier.

I was debating about the treadmill thing but now I love it!! It was mainly a safety reason for me (the park where I run is very deserted) but now it is so convenient.
When I first joined the gym, this is what I asked my family members: instead of the dust-collecting gifts they usually buy for Christmas, go to my gym and buy me a gift certificate of membership in the amount of money you think you were going to spend on me. (It is a small gym and the monthly fee is $35) They listened!! Came Christmas time, I got a full year worth of membership!!! It was awesome!! I know I took the surprise out of Christmas, but I couldn't have been happier!! Also my b.day is coming up and I am already hinting ( I am terrible, I know) that I would like to have gift certificates to any sports store, so I can buy an exercise ball, work-out DVD's, dumbells...etc. I remember you mentioned your family really does not know about this so I don't think my tactics would work for you. Sorry I am rambling on again... don't mind me.
Looking forward till next time.
Hajni

Thanks hajni for stopping by my diary.
You know i have only been doing pretty good on the whole soda thing cause i figure outta sight out mind type thing. I took all the sodas we had in the house and put them out in the garage so i still know where they are just haven't been keeping them in the fridge so i don't drink them as much if at all. You know I was thinking about asking people just for gift cards this year for christmas and my b-day so that i can get some more weights and maybe some new clothes since i already have a exercise ball and workout dvd's i just need some heavier weights since i only have 3lb hand weights.
my husband is probably the only one that wouldn't necessairly know since he's in afghanistan and my mom lives with me so she has been noticing that i don't eat as much as i used to and that i am cutting back on things. I am thinking about changing my ticker to a small goal and then once I reach that change it again and so on until i get down to my goal weight. Cause looking at the final amount is very discouraging sometimes. Specially when i think that i still have 103.2 lbs to go before i reach 150 which at that time will decide if i wanna go down another 25 lbs or not. since the doc said for me to be in a healthy range i needed to be between 125-140.

sorry i'm rambling it is just so easy to post how your thinking when there are people like you who have similar ideas to me.

anyways thanks again and keep up the good work.

Ok a new day for me: lol :)

Ok well today is 8/1/07 and I have already had breakfast and 12 oz of water in the less then 2 hours i have been so up far. I made a somewhat interesting shake this morning for breakfast although I don't think i will recommend it cause there were too many flavors in it. anyways I didn't get any exercise in besides doing laundry and cleaning around the house yesterday as i spent 2 hours just looking for music for my ipod to workout to which i found some great stuff. Songs that i had totally forgot exsisted. lol since i hadn't heard them in years- mainly since highschool which i graduated from in 2001.

I still can't believe its been 6 years since i graduated highschool already. that 10 year reunion is coming up faster then i had expected it too.. cause when you think about it 10 years is a long time. As you can probably tell i am in a great mood today and hoping nothing ruins that.

Oh yeah for people that notice my ticker changed i set it for a mini goal instead of using the long term goal for now cause it was just too discouraging seeing that big number at then end of it.
well gotta jet got bills and stuff to pay today as today's payday for me. ugh i hate bills.. anyways will post again later when i get things done.

Hope everyone is having a great day.

HI Heather,
I see you changed your ticker!!YAY!! The mind over sight thing here too. When I was thinking I had to lose 65 lbs it seemed such un-reachable goal, but when I broke it down to 20 lbs increments it just seemed so much better.!!! You ONLY have 13.2 lbs to get to your first goal!!
Funny how we seem to think alike!??
I would love to have an exercise ball. I never thought you can do so much with a simple ball!! then the trainer showed us in the gym it is awesome. I am slowly shifting my exercise habits from the gym to home, I think it would be better for me in the long run.
Gotta run,
Hajni

Howdy M4
Way to go on kicking the soda to the curb....I found it hard to drink now taste to syrupy and acidy to me I used to be a MOUNTAIN DEW junkie lol I love my water now especially when it is hot.Way to go on setting your ticker ,start with smaller goals it seems to push ya and you get there quicker.Your doing great, have a nice day Tammy

My mom left her eating completely the same and only gave up soda and juice and lost 15 pounds in 2 months!! She is now drinking sodas again and is back up 10 of those pounnds. WATER IS THE WAY TO GO!!!!!!

today's food and exercise plan

well today i came out a little shy of my 1500 calorie a day goal but i guess that's ok since the day before was a little bit over what i had wanted to eat.

breakfast: 2 homestyle biscuits w/ 2 teaspoons butter and 2 pork links
24 oz water

snack: special k vanilla crisp cereal bar

Lunch: 1 cup mac and cheese prepared with 2 oz water and 1 tablespoon milk 24 oz cool raspberry flavored water

snack: 15 baby carrots w/ 2 tablespoons Kraft free ranch and a dannon light and fit vanilla yogurt

Dinner: 3 homestyle biscuits w/ 1.5 hotdogs in them 1/4 cup of mac and cheese
24 oz water

Midmorning workout: 50 crunches with my son trying to climb on top of me.. lol 24 oz cool raspberry flavored water

Evening after dinner workout: 2.5 mile walk/jog using leslie sansone"s walking away the pounds walk and jog dvd. and some new exercises that i found on self.com website. that work all the upper body and abs and some that worked the legs and butt at the same time.
24 oz water

total for the day: 1415 cals, 62g fat, 171g carbs, 42g Protein
exercise burned: 442 calories

so overall i think today was pretty good. Made sure to drink plenty of water due to the heat as its been getting into the low to mid 100's here.

well its late and i should have been asleep already but had a headache so it makes it hard to sleep. See you all later today and hope you all have a great day. keep up the good work everyone and thanks for dropping in to my diary.

Howdy M4,
Way to go on the calories and workouts!
Your doing gr8! You may be having a caffine withdraw headache
I got them the 1st few days I tried to quit drinking soda's,nothing
a couple aleive won't take care of.I hope you have a nice weekend
Tammy

When I rarely get a diet soda now at a restaurant I take a sip and I go this is a regular... its sooo sweet and syrupy!

You're doing so great cutting out the soda and getting in your exercise and with your eating.

It was a good idea to change your ticker to a smaller number ... it makes your goal seem so close. I'm just a glutton for punishment and need to see the larger picture so i won't set my ticker for my small goals:)

I'm sorry abotu your headache I have one right now too :(

Keep up the great work:hug2:

Thanks tammy and boam. The headache went away after i drink a glass of water so i guess it was just my bodies way of telling me it needed more to drink after my workout last night.

I gotta get cleaning since i got my son down for his nap and then try to do some exercise while he's sleep cause he won't let me doing my dvd without him climbing on me or crawling between my legs or something to try to distract me which isn't exactly a good thing when your trying to exercise. lol :) anyways hope you both have a great weekend. I will post my food and exercise after i get it all done today.

Headaches can often be cured through hydration. It isn't nice to get the headaches, though, so I just try to stay hydrated.

I also noticed I get a headache if I ate something very salty that I am not used to.
Hope you are having a good weekend!!
Last night I tried to do pilates while my daughter was still up. Forget it!! the part where I had to stand up, all she wanted to do is keep going through between my legs and thought it was the greatest game ever!!! We ended up just rolling around the floor laughing.
You deserve a lot of credit to go at this weight loss thing without your husband. My hubby is my greatest support as far as helping with me managing time. He watches our daughter when I exercise or picks her up from babysitter when I go to the gym. Also helps with the household chores. It sure makes it easier.
I admire you for finding time to fit in exercise while watching an energetic 3 year old!

We posted at the same time!! I just saw your post came through!!

I just got 5 lbs handweights today, it is heavy enough for me for a while!!:)
You might want to research the heart-rate monitors online before you buy one. I found the best deal on Amazon. I bought a Reebok it counts calories as well. My first one was an Omron 100 on Amazon for like 32 no shipping cost. It was awesome it just did not count calories and my father has heart troubles I ended up giving it to him.

great job on your food!!

I bet that was a lot more fun and rewarding and you were still getting in some exercise:)

I'm glad your headache went away with some water. They can be really horrible. I give you tons of credit for doing this with a little one running around. It must be soo hard!

Keep up the great work:hug2:
