It is amazing

It's amazing to me how I don't stay on my diet. I feel so good and it gets results when I eat what I need to be eating!! Last Monday when I started I was 209.4 and today I am 200.6!! I am excited and wish I had a ticker but only so much fits in the signature line lol. I did well on my vacation and didn't eat "bad things". I kept to lots of fruits and veggies and I stuck to what i packed to eat on the road though I was tempted when the family got McDonald's. Of course my hubby has tummy problems today so maybe I am glad I didn't get food with him?? So today starts week 3 of C25K. I am nervous about it because it is much more running than I am used to!! I hope it goes well.... I should change that "It will go well!!" I am trying to work on talking positively to myself. I am so negative about a lot of things in my life and I think that has caused me more stress and brought me down!! If I think positively I am hoping it will become a habit and start showing in other areas of my life:) So onto week3 of C25K and week 2 of healthy eating. My aim is for around 1500 calories and so far my lowest day was 1346 and highest was 1650 so I am glad I am bouncing around. Hope you all have a good day!!
Thank you Alta!! You are right and hopefully he will get motivated. He said that he was going to start South Beach today and that is wonderful so I am keeping my fingers crossed. I so totally believe in the calories and that no diet will work without watching them but he has had success on SB and anything to get him back in the game!! I am hoping for the best but I can't use it as an excuse to eat badly. Just gotta do this for me. I have no excuses!!

YAY!! Down to 200.6!!! Thats great lady! And Kudos for skipping on the Mickey D's!!

You CAN do this! And your positive attitude it just the right way to get you there!!

Keep up the good work! And here's to week 3!

200.6!? Congrats! That's amazing!! Good luck with week 3! I start the program next week. (when I leave this mountainous area. LOL. ) I've been told that talking positively really makes all the difference. I still need to work on that. Good luck with your run.

Still going strong-ish

Thank you guys!! I am still motivated. Yesterday was a hard workout. I had to slow down several times on my 3 minute running blocks. Still I made it through. I am hoping to not have to slow down on tomorrow's workout. I really want to be running a 10 minute mile and I will need to run at 6.0 to do that. That is really fast but if I can train at 5.5 maybe I could build up in the week I have after the program but before the race. Yesterday I succumbed a bit to cravings. My calories were around 1800 which isn't awful but I ate a lot of fat free tapioca and it made me feel yucky and stuffy and swollen. It is amazing. I am sure if I had filled those calories with fruits and veggies I would feel much better today. I will get on board again today and try for slightly less calories with more exercise today. Lots of chores to do too lol.
Hope you all have a good week.

Don't focus so much on speed for now but go for endurance.. what I was reading recently that if you can't hold a conversation while you are running, then you are runng to fast - slow it down... the speed will come in time...

Hey did I ever say I wasn't having fun?? lol well maybe I did. I still enjoy running so no worries. Mal I was thinking about that. I am very out of breath for the last minute of the 3 minutes. Technically I could talk but not sure anyone would understand lol. Maybe I will try to run at a 5.0 on Wednesday and see how that treats me. I have a bit of an issue with asthma when I run so I know some of my out of breathness is that. I just need to find a balance and BREATHE!! Seems logical;)
Thanks guys.

Howdy Mishi,
WOW running now I am so jealous I have never made it that far
running wasnt my thing congrats to you for picking back up and TY for the support and kind words I want to start walking again but its been so HUMID nad I feel so blah lol I have been hybernating again..Take care and keep up the good work!

Finding the balance is what completely challenges me... I found an online metronone that I could record a file to and copy it to my ipod -to help me with the right pace... but alas.. i haven't gotten the right pace yet...

Breathlessness is normal -but not being able to hold a conversation - especially at hte beginning of training - means slow it down...

I want to thank you for being my motivation to sign up for the 5K. I hope I enjoy running as much as you. Do you do your running on a treadmill? I wish I had a treadmill. I have to run outside. Do you use the Robert Ullrey podcast from itunes? Or do u follow the guidelines of the program? Week 9 will be here before you know it, and you will be doing that 5K! I hope it will be the first of MANY to come for the both of us.

Hey Brandy! Thank you:) That is very sweet of you. I have dreams about running long distances and they are usually very happy dreams:) I like running I am just not as good at it as I would like to be. I do run on a treadmill right now. I actually prefer outside because of the ups and downs of landscape and I was running outside last spring in ABQ but with my son it is easier to have him with his toys in the gym at our apartments. So don't worry about outside! I used mapmyrun.com to see how far I had gone when I was doing distance and then would see how my time improved. I do listen to Robert Ullrey but I have been getting bored of the music. I like really pumped songs to get me through running and make the time go faster. His music isn't bad but it's not as bumpy as I like lol. But he is great for telling you when to speed up and slow down. I was actually just making a new workout songlist to try to just listen to my music on Wednesday and see how that works. Then I will see if the music helps get me through the long hauls or if I am just a whiner baby;) lol Also I am following the program as it is outlined so no repeating weeks or skipping ahead. It keeps me grounded but now that the runs are harder I am not as keen to skip ahead. I do walks and whatnot on the off days which I am not sure I am supposed to do but I don't run unless it's a C25K day. Hope that answers all your questions:) Thanks for dropping by!

I havent downloaded it myself but there is another version of the c25k podcast available - a female (i think( has done it and it has more hiphoppish, pop and 80s stuff according to the description

I can't stand the music on the original podcast but i might have to give suz's a shot

I'd be interested in the second one. I don't really care for Ullrey's music. I agree with Mishi. It bores me. If you find the exact name, let me know. When I start the program I will stick to it exactly. I think the walking in between running days is a good idea. I wanted to run every day and I ended up with shin splints.

Suz's Couch to 5K running podcast on Itunes...

or go to (I can't even make that up :D

and scroll down a little for the podcasts link

it looks like she's got thru week 6 done..

Disclaimer; i have not listened to them - so I can't vouch for whether they are any good or not

search ITunes for Couch to 5L and there's also one by Alex... he's got week 1 and 2... that has no music track at all just audio cues..

Podrunner: intervals on itunes also has a bunch of different stuff...

Thanks Mal I will have to check those out. I thought of just making one myself but I am not sure how. My techie hubby might be able to show me though. I wondered about copyrights and whatnot with songs. Hmmm. It would be fun to make a podcast. I feel I am pretty motivating lol!

the one by alex - he sort of gives the instructions -and suggests using garageband for th emusic - if you've never beenthere -is an awesome site to get music from -it's all unsigned artists... that some of them really should be...

oohhhhh fun! Thanks again. You should really have an "Ask Mal" website;) lol You have a lot of good information!!

I'll check out the other podcasts as well. I'd love to use yours michelle!! I agree. Askmal.com. LOL.

Seriously Mal my husband works at a domain registration company. We can set you up if you ever decide to go into the advice giving field. Oh it would be fun! :D lol
