Maryann's trail....Rotation Diet "version"....

Congrats on the dropped pound. Keep that scale moving.

Wishing everyone a nice weekend full-of good choices,

But it's Friday, and it wouldn't be Friday for me without bad choices. I'll try and limit myself to good _calorie_ choices.

Good job MaryAnne! You are on fire girl! Give that treadmill and good workout and let us know how that stepper thing works out! Have a great weekend!!
Sarah

~ I think it will do the trick for quick/easy exercise at work - ....but I do feel my knees a bit - so I will be careful with the tension setting first while....
& YES - I will watch out for the wolves & Mooses..... lol

Whenever I see decives like that, I think they'll never support my weight, so I pass on them.
That's a very friendly looking dog you got there.

Oh no Maryann, one of the wolves has broken into your house! A fluffy white one. It looks absolutely vicious, run for your life!

... thx for warning me on fluffy white "wolfie"... I think her name is "Koko"...& I've heard she can get really snarly when the home-owners run out of milk-bones... I better go shopping....

Hi Mrxian & Steve21 -

...U are right about the stepper-having limitations- the specs say max.wt of 250lbs

- so I just make the limit - ...I have a treadmill at home that I use in aftns/evenings
- but I needed something for my noon-hour breaks at work - I wanted something smaller/more compact to fit-in our back room in my dept. at work ( so I can get-in a bit of quick noon-break exercise -.... in summer months- I walk outside- but winter here fairly cold/& lots of snow/ice on the walks) -so I need something indoors - the hospital I work in is quite small- no gym - I've been driving home on my noon-break-but waste time with the driving- so thought I'd try this ( they were on sale pre-xmas).

The stepper is pretty good so far , it's a pretty limited range of motion- but I think it will fit my purpose-to burn some cal's within a limited space ...I am finding it is a bit more work than walking on my treadmill - my middle-age heart rate seems to increase a lot faster...I feel my legs ( & butt) muscles working - ...I also feel a bit of (?strain?) in my knees- so I'm planninng to keep the tension fairly low- until I get used to it/or my knees get a bit stronger...

The "friendly looking" pooch is my dog Koko- she loves walks , we try & get out there on sunnydays in winter, and almost daily in summer. View attachment 19561

Good job on getting the stepper set up,and do watch that tension setting! I have noticed that since I started doing the stairs here in the hotel that my butt muscles are firming up...a combo of getting the fat off and toning up the muscles and doing the yoga to get some flexibility is helping me feel much more confident. It is happening for you too..i can read it in your posts! Keep up the good work Maryann!

Sarah

Hey all ! Happy Sunday

Nice quiet at-home day for me today.

Hey Sarah - yes- I definately feel the stepper effect on my butt-muslces ...I think it will be a good lunch-time at work routine for me- now that I've got it set up & working - I am planning to take it to work tomorrow- ~
... I think I might have actually felt a bit of stomach- muscle-tone the other day while on the treadmill...I'm not totally sure...it's been so long since I felt any muscle-tone anywhere...but it felt good - slowy forward - each day is bringing a little-something new........ I like it.!

Got a pot of home-made tomatoe-soup simmering on the stove (my garden tomatoes, some celery, some green-onions, ... smells good )

supper- baking a salmon/brown-rice/salad

Exercise: shovel snow ( mother nature brought some-more white-stuff this morning), did tread-mill x1/2 hr & did 100steps on the stepper this AM, & sun is out now- thinking me & Koko will do a nice outside walk !

Am excited - hubby just decided on a conference in Vancouver - it's just 2 weekends from now-
...I love Vancouver - the hotel we stay at is right on the harbour & right on the Vancouver SeaWall walking path - .... lovely 22km path to/thru Stanley Park - walk from our hotel to the park is 2.2k one-way... I've done this walk in past years when we've been there - it is so nice walking beside the ocean ( such a treat for this prarie-life land-locked gal)...

Nice Sunday so far, packed-up some more of my too-big-pants for charity donation ( yay! ) ,

Watched an interesting episode of Dr.Oz this morning - they had the 3 trainers from Biggest Loser on - with their tips for 2013 - ... was a good reminder-inspiration ....
they said-
- good treat- dark chocolate(with sea-salt) -yummy & healthy
- almond milk ( I've never tried-might have to check it out)
- sparkling water ( instead of pop )
- get lots of fibre in your diet - eg.berries - raspberries, blueberries, blackberries
- dont' DRINK your calories - ie. avoid those super sugar-fat fancy coffees - mocha/frappa/latte's-stick to plain coffees/teas..
- eat lots/more veggies daily
- focus on protein/veggies
- limit carbs/ avoid "white carbs"(white bread, white rice)- chose brown rice, sweet potatoes - in moderation.
- do NOT touch the bread-basket at restaurants...
- Count calories - weigh/measure/track ... don't go below healthy minimums- women-1,200cal/day lower-limit, men-1,600cal/day lower-limit.

& got a nice suprise from my hubby - some flowers ! its' my birthday next week...but I also like to think of it as a perk for all my hard-work with healthy-choices...

Hi Maryann, that sounds lovely! Walking by the sea will be great. Re your stepper- I find I have to really lay off the tension on my exercise bike or it hurts my knees. I think you are doing so well & always trying to find healthy options. 2013 is going to be a great year for all of us I reckon! I love the support that you are giving along the way. Good for you. Your enthusiasm is contagious xoxo Cate

arrrr - Monday morning - work.... tired....

'cause we will make it good - 1 day - 1 choice- at a time !.

Plan today:
Exercise : 2 x 1/2 hr treadmill + Stepper at noon.
food: cal budget today is 1,600, planned food is 1,415....so have room to add an extra-snack ( maybe a handful of almonds...mmm)

Have a good one everyone,
Cheers Maryann

Glad your stepper is working out well! You're doing fantastic with your exercise!! Keep up the great work! I lived in Victoria for 3 months and BC is such a pretty place (with too much rain, haha)

Hey Mystic - yup- so far I like the stepper- bit harder work than my treadmill- but figure it's good to mix things up a bit & try something new.~ & I needed something compact to squeeze-in the back-room at work - the ladies-compact model stepper I bought just fits the bill.
View attachment 19587

& yes, I love visiting BC too - Vancouver is such a treat - I can hardly wait for the upcoming weekend there , I am a prarie-gal like you .... so anything closer to the ocean is so nice... U are so lucky to have lived in Victoria...bet it was fun.
