Maryann's trail....Rotation Diet "version"....

Good job getting outside in the cold and snow for your walk! I have to say that the most I have braved right now if just the run to the car from work!! Not looking forward to it getting truly cold and the normal amounts of snow we get!! Good job staying under your calorie limit too! Subway is great to switch things up a bit and you can still stay in your calorie range if your careful!

Happy Friday ! yay ! it's the weekend :hurray:

Hey Mystic - yes , that fresh air is Reallllyyy fresh these days....but that's life on the praries !

Did my noon-walk today , and took my pup Koko for a walk after work tonite
16_2_27.gif

We definately move a lot faster when it's cooler out....our usual route took 1/2 the time !

Calories good today- total is 1,400 ( budget is 1,500).

... we're BBQng a salmon for supper - yumm.....it smells good....

...the weekend - nothing too major planned - have a fair amount of reading/prep to do ( I'm starting my work as an on-line pmcy course helper next week - first time for me doing this ...am bit nervous- but also excited )

...I'll be sure to break-up all that sitting & reading this weekend with Treadmill sessions to boost-up the metabolism...and keep me awake...lol....:svengo:

Wishing everyone a great weekend with good , healthy choices, \

Hi All - Happy Sunday

Brrrr - cold/snowy here today - ... but am still planning for dog-walk this aftn with Koko ( but might need to put her "geeky" doggie winter sweater-thing on her (she hates it -but she's just a wimpy little poodle-cross- so she needs it when we're into this lovely winter weather here.) ~ the snow is not my favorite weather - but shovelling is good exercise -

.....

Food yesterday- was pretty good - ate out for supper - but I looked up the menu ahead -& picked a 1,000 cal entree ( quesadillas)- most of their other entrees were 1,500 to 2,000 ( sheesh) .... my daily total was 1,500 . ~ was happy with myself- my hubby & our friend with us both had fries with their dinners - while I had the "healthy" chick.quesadillas -whole wheat & lot fat sour cr. & I didn't steal ANy of their FRIES ! not even 1...

bth_Stop_Sign.jpg

today: calories - 360 so far - so should be fine with 1,500 budget today ( have baked salmon , veggies/salad planned for supper)

exercise: plan for dog-walk this aftn & tread mill & yes -shovel snow on walks/driveway.... ick .

hope everyone having a nice Sunday,-with healthy choices.

cheers, Maryann C.

AHey Maryann,
Thanks so much for your encouragement in my diary! By the way, the 1/2 Marathon is jot a charity run that I know of...havnt officially signed up for it yet, so I'll have to check it out better and let you know. As for My NS trip, it will be really quick...you are right about Peggy's cove, I've been there and it is lovely...and I 've had the lobster...also yummy...but my favorite is the salmon...I just can't get enough of that! When I read your post during the weekend, I saw you were having that, and I wanted some...so I did room service and ordered some...that's an expensive way to satisfy a hankering...but it worked ! I look forward to some more when I go to Canada!
You my dear are doing great! I love your resolve to get out in the snow and walk your dog...it's the right thing to do !! It really is ,mind over matter...and your mind showing your body who is boss! The body can adapt, just make sure you always have some ID on you in case of emergency!
Good job too on the no cheat meal around the French fries!! That took some will power! I bet you not only felt good after the meal physically, but also mentally! I'm very proud of you ! 13 pounds is a great achievement so far...keep it up...I'm betting that is starting to show in your clothese now!

Good choices to you my cyber friend...on the hill, marching together!

...most of us have awesome biceps & strong-backs from all the shovelling....lol. :smash:

Hi Sarah !

Sarah - so nice to hear you've seen some of lovely East-coast Canada before - ... I've really enjoyed my visits there ( I've been to Newfoundland and Halifax-NovoScotia so far , and planned for Charlottetown PEI next spring.)

- sorry if I created an expensive salmon hankering for ya - .... we bought an entire fish here ( I think it was Costco) for around $20.- and had 3 good suppers from it - ... sounds like it's really a delicacy over there...but glad you got the chance to have some & enjoy a healthy treat .

Me & Pooch walking in the snow is just usual routine up here - I've grown up with snowy winters all my life - so am used to it - the "first" couple days with the first snow-fall - it takes a bit of adjusting, but after that , nothing a good toque and some warm mitts can't handle... the only funny part is Koko really doesn't like the "sweater-coat"...it feel's like "somethings" on her back - she keeps trying to shake it off, quite amusing - but she just gets cold too fast without it - so on it goes !

& my work-dress pants are starting to get bit looser - will need to dig in the closet soon for my next size down...yay !..

last couple weeks have been stable weight-(no loss) - but the stress &busy at work really undermined my noon walks - things are quieting down this week - so should be back on track , and have managed to stick with the routine, trust in the process , and just be patient until my body is ready to give up some more fat.

thankyou for the support Sarah - you always seem to give me a boost , just when I need one ... keep Up your good choices too - as we March on !

Maryann. -

Hi all - Happy Monday - back to the "old grind"

~ did lots of snow-shovelling yesterday ( winter on the Canadian praries eh ?....)

1017.gif
my Exercise today : did noon walk, dog-walk , & plan for Treadmill tonite.

Calories: plan for today is 1,320 ( budget is 1,200 - so am a bit over- but not bad)....

...found myself Really hungry arriving home after-work today ... had a bit less protein at lunch than usual - (only 120cals- ) so will need to be sure to include more protein in lunches - ( or maybe the extra exercise yesterday of all that shoveling resulted in more hunger/calorie need today...?...)

anyway - had some peanut butter+ apple slices - hunger ok now - ....(tried some humus I had bought first - but just don't like the taste- ...won't be buying that again soon.... lol. )

Wishing everyone a good-day filled with good choices,

cheers,

maryann C.

Yay, on the pants getting looser!!! That's always a great feeling!! And I still applaud you for going out there in the wet and cold! I thought I was gonna freeze to death walking to the gym today and that was all inside my apartment building! Never even stepped a foot outside!! Haha!

Hey everyone - welll....it's Tuesday....not quite "happy" at my end ....everyone seemed grumpy & distracted at work today....missed lunch & noon walk again - but went for a nice fresh air outside walk with Koko once I was home - that felt good ! ( needed the "unwind")....

food - hmmm....was pretty tense from work - ended up with toast/cheese slice right when got home....and supper ended up being another slice toast+cheese +lettuce ....but will have some fruit for evening snack - ....and- although just ate 'cause I was hungry ( & wound-up)(didn't really plan anything - just grabbed what was quick) - when I did write out the calories - am actually not too bad for today-

calorie total is 1,360 ( budget today 1,500) - so am ok -

Exercise today- dog walk & will do treadmill tonite...
7_5_141.gif

lesson learned today - even if I stress eat - if there's only healthy food in the house - even the "stress-food" calories end up being ok - ...didn't have any junk food at home - so my big splurge of toast&cheese was not too bad ....lol....

hope everyone having a better day than mine was, ...

I have a bit more work reading to do yet , then off to tread-mill, some nice mango slices & then relax time.

cheers,

wishing everyone good choices,

maryann C.

AHey Maryann!
Hope your Wednesday is better than your Tuesday! Sounds like you are handled it well at least in the food area! You are so right about not having junk in the house...can't eat if it's not there...or at least you really gotta want to make a bad choice and go get some junk before you can eat it! Most of the time, we settle for what ever is easiest, and it happens to be what is close. Your good choice from weeks ago paid off big time yesterday! Good job!!
Good job on taking that wind down walk! You are rocking and doing great...life happens...we have to adapt!
Good choices to you!

Sarah

Hi all - Happy Halloween
8_1_225.gif

Thanks for the support Sarah & Mystic - today is going much better ( & funny too - I did have the halloween treats in the house yesterday - but forgot all about them... just headed for the kitchen when I felt the stress - good thing the treats were in the front room.... lol ! )

Exercise today - did my noon-walk ( was cold -12C with the windchill- but I put up my hood & trucked along - am glad I went...)

Food today - calories - 1,300 ( budget is 1200 - so that's ok )( & that includes my "planned" treat of 2 packs of the trick-treat chips I have for giving out to the kiddos-

(they are 90cals/packet- so not too bad of a splurge & I figure if I try to have none at all - will just either feel too cranky & deprived , or cave-in & have some anyway)

- also bought some greek-yogurt to make some home-made Tzaziki dip & veggies ( only 120cal for a whole cup - )-so am planning to keep busy thru the evening crunching on veggies & tzaziki dip - instead of being tempted for extra treats.

wishing everyone a Fun Halloween & NOT too many Treats ! ...lol....

cheers,

Maryann

Happy Halloween Maryann!

Good job on giving yourself some treats...amazing how our brain works on us to make us feel deprived...it's real isn't it? I know it is for me! I fly out today to Shanghai, so not sure how often I'll be able to log in for a few days. Keep up the great work and keep up that exercise...it is helping to make a difference for you!

Sarah

Aaaack ! Major snow here today - ! ...I'm keeping up my exercise Sarah !.... lol....

1017.gif

Exercise today : 2 hrs shovelling snow ( phew ! )

food: calories - 1,440 (budget 1,500 today - ok ).

- some folks bit cranky at work ( driving was pretty bad with all that snow - usually gets people worried....)

I'm
bth_Tea-1.jpg
tired & cold from all the shovelling - (hope I burned-up some calories at least...) ....going to have a nice warm cup of tea - and warm up ....

Wishing everyone a nice evening with good choices,

Maryann C.

Hi all- Happy Saturday !

Grey day here ( but at least no more snow today-thank goodness. )

~ well, - couple weeks now with weight stable- no losses,- so planning to change things a bit for next week -

.. saw a Dr.Oz episode this week with Chris Powell- method -Carb Rotation - alternating higher cal days( higher carb/low fat)) with lower-cal days( lower-carb/more fat)(calories in his plan 1,600/alt with 1,200 - I'm pretty sure I'll be major hungry on the 1,200 days...but will try for this week.... see if can get my weight moving a bit. - my clothes are feeling loser, but scale is not moving this past while....argghhhh......

- forecast is for sunshine tomorrow - am hoping to get out for a nice Sunday afternoon walk with my pooch Koko.

~ Happy Weekend everyone ! CHeers, Maryann

Oh Maryann, I don't know how I would cope with major snow! I'm a wimp! WOOT WOOT though. We won the Division 2 net with a net 59.5!! I'm pinching myself. I still can't believe how much I love golf. I don't care if I'm never very good at it. I am going to just enjoy the fresh air, company & the exercise! It ended up being really warm & I put on sunscreen on my way around. I think it got up to about 25o Celsius. It was a beautiful day! Maryann, do you keep track of your calories eaten & your calories expended, through exercise? I think I'll go back to using My Fitness Pal soon. I do like it but needed a break.

You're on track Maryann & you will get there. Determination will see you through, xoxo Cate

AHey Maryann,
You might be right about the calories, although the 1200 days seems mighty low to me... Let us know how that goes. You might try upping your exercise either in length or in intensity. My body seemed to adapt to exercise about every 90 days, so I found I had to mix it up and crank it up to get my weight loss moving. You might try that or start lifting some weights...try the sand bag type weights strapped on your ankles when you walk Koko...it will remind you of the weight you used to carry around!

Good choices to ya!

~ Thanks MRealm for good-luck with my adjusted plan :)

~ Thx Sarah for the tips on adjusting my exercise - my intensity has been pretty "relaxed".... will try & push a little & get more sweat going....

~ Hey Cate - congrat's on the golf win , and to answer your question -yes , I do track my calories (note book in my kitchen) , and exercise - just record it here on daily postings.-

Found a great calculator on Mystic's thread : ( it was posted by Mr.Vee ) ...

http://bwsimulator.niddk.nih.gov/

Using this calculator - I should be eating 1,400cals/day + 60mins light walking to get 2lbs.loss/week - .. so sounds like the carb rotation plan of 1,600 alt 1,200 ( = avg.1,400/day) just might work.

...the modified Katahn's that I was following ( 1,200/1,500 week ) alt with (1,500/1,800 weeks) - just wasn't getting quite there..... ( as I didn't lose-just stayed same ).( I also was not religious about a full 60minutes exercise each day...so that is looking like a must-do for middle-aged me. )

- I have a calender right beside my compter in my study - I've marked it with a daily reminder this week about the 60mins exercise ( 30min noon walk/+ 30min.eve treadmill)

- I will put a check-mark each day I complete each exercise,(and work to up my pace a bit-both at noon & in evening)

-Calories ( as usual) I'll mark in my notebook in the kitchen.

Thanks for all the support ladies , I am wearing my size smaller jeans- and they are feeling looser- but time to make that scale move some more too....

I took things easy today (felt I needed a re-charge day) - ...and will go full-speed ahead tomorrow

Cheers all , wishing everyone good healthy choices,

Maryann C. :)
