oh my - work was crazy again today....barely had time to eat my lunch, and no noon-walk either.... sure hope things setlle next week.

Riddle:

How do yu torture a middle-aged woman in the midst of a weight-loss effort?

answer:

Break her bathroom scale ! .... ha ha ha .....

didn 't realize how much I did focus/look forward to those morning weigh-ins, - the pleasant suprise when I'd actually lost some , the reassurance when I hadn't gained, and the smarten-up cue - when it crept up a little.... really missed it these past couple days....

~ but - success - bought a new scale this aftn - so am back-in-business !

~ calories - did ok today - target was 1,800 - I had 1,510 - .

~ exercise - I am really bushed - decided to give myself a DAY-off exercising today .... will hit the tread-mill tomorrow morning instead.

wishing everyone a good weekend with good-choices,

cheers,

Maryann

AHey Maryannc,
Sounds like your work is as crazy as mine right now! It is difficult to continue the right choices, and like most things, we protect the things that are really important to is...it make take some creativity, a change of routine, but it can be done! You are living proof! Sorry you had so much stress about the scale! I have a new scale since August, and it is one that does %body fat and does a wifi synch to my computer...or it is supposed to! I normally weigh. I only do my official weigh in on Saturdays's, but i've found that if i only weigh in once per week, it loses it's brain and wont synch...weighs fine, bit no synch...so i added a mid week weigh in at wednesday..and that seemed to fix it..of course until i had to be gone on business..so i'm sure now it wont snych when i get back home! Technology has brought many good things, but it's normally not without pain..like you are going through at work!
Stay with it, find another time to walk, or maybe get up 30 min earlier and do a few minutes in the morning, or maybe you can do a clothes change just before you leave work and stop by a park or well lighted place on your way home...just some ideas!
You are doing great...keep making those good choices and you will keep getting rewarded!

Sarah

Hi All , & Happy Saturday- Happy Weekend !

...Hey Sarah - thanks for the idea of moving my walk-time on the busy work days - walking after my shift would work ( although I'm usually pretty eager to head home once work done- ...could actually do a quick stroll before hopping in my car to head home - would be a nice "unwind" after a hectic day....good idea - Thx ! )

- my new scale is not as fancy as yours ( I was afraid to get one that tells me %body fat...that would be too scary for me at this point).... but your's sure sounds neat - having it sync with computer would be great - then wouldn't have to keep my little diary hidden in bathroom to write down my weights...lol.

- good news -

I am down 1lb. this week ! yay ( moderation & consistency does work ) (slow & steady as Sarah says...Journey not a Race.....) healthy food , walk daily ( except yesterday I missed - will hop on treadmill shortly here this morning)...

Wishing everyone a good-weekend with good healthy choices

( we have a wedding to go to today , and dinnner-theatre tomorrow - I am thinking to do the veg-protein focus & try avoid carbs...)

cheers all, x0x

Yah- I was nervous- held my breath- and stepped on real slow......

Hi folks, Happy Sunday !

...well 50% of food-weekend survived-, Scale was oK this am ( 0.5lb down from yesterday ...phew ! )(was worried)

-(Wedding yesterday was very nice - lady pastor did the ceremony -was different )

( I behaved pretty good on food/bev - had 1 light beer, 1/2glass red wine, supper- filled half my plate with salad, and for starch - had only 1 perogy/1 cabbage roll/ 1/2 small potatoe ( that's doing good for this Ukrainian gal )

day2 now on - ....did 50 step-ups this Am ( to speed metabolism a bit ) - now off to Brunch/dinner theatre....my plan of attack - lots salad/veg - some protein, avoid carbs ( just a taste)- dessert - again -just taste of maybe 1 or 2- & fruit,

then tonite - dog-walk & treadmilll.

Yup - U assess me correctly Brawn - my "snow-ball" is starting to gain speed rolling....it does feel like a few puzzle-pieces are ligning up to get me rolling forward - :smash:

- 2 big pieces for me are anger & pride - last month a chance meeting with a friend -her comment of "yup-health issues inevitable for her & I at our weight"...that one made me really angry , and an argument with a close relative - he said I need to get my own act in shape - (that one really "piss....d me off too " )(other than my weight issues - overall I try very hard to be a good person) ...- I made up my mind - I Will so show them both !

- a co-worker is really supportive, and practical in her support and advise - it's so good to have a cheer-leader , positive influence in my daily life.

- found this site - the information ( unbiased, no hype, no gimmicks) - and the support and sharing - huge part of my current determination and knowledge - am learning so much about what works for weight control & what doesn't - from reading others success and challenges , and the support everyone shares here has no price-tag...just amazing...

- biggest piece - this is Lifetime for me now....I realized that for a few months this spring , without any dieting , I was actually maintaining a steady weight - and all that I was doing was 5 days/week - routine noon-time 1/2 hr walk- that's all that I need to do to stay slim for good - so that bit of "light-bulb" has really given me a fire to stay with this weight-loss/ healthy changes - knowing that once I get to goal weight - all it will take is to get my butt-off that couch once a day - & won't have to get fat ever again!!

- yup - here I come....the unfat-future is there for me....and for all of us.... we just all need access to support , and knowledge, ...as we certainly all have the desire to not be overweight.

cheers,

Maryann

Sunday update -

survived the brunch ( the dinner-theatre play was good - musical-Beatles(the later years) - ) musical shows always put me in good spirits - and I think I enjoyed the show more , with being just "Full" , not overstuffed.... ( did manage to stick to mostly protein, some veg's), and only teeny taste of 2 desserts.

~ now off for a nice Sunday dog-walk ( not windy or too cold today - rest of week is forecast cooler) :p

~ then tread-mill tonite.

Cheers all,

Maryann

Hi Maryann, I had been thinking the same as Brawny & then read his post. It's great to see you making positive changes in your attitude as well as your lifestyle & it's excellent that you have accepted that they should be permanent changes & will be sustainable. That is half the battle as it can feel so daunting at the start. Baby steps & every change that you make will get you to your goal. There's no hurry Maryann, as you say, & the longer it takes, the more you learn & the higher the chances of never re-gaining the shed weight. Cheers, xo Cate

AWhat a positive post Maryannc! I love how you've summed up your progression to a lifestyle change, and how I see the fat2fir philosophy in your lightbulb moment of maintenance weight! I'm so proud of you ! Weightloss is a mental thing...it all starts with our choices...which means it's all in our heads...and if it's in our heads, we can take the thought and turn it into action...which will turn into weightloss and fitness when we take the action! With your determination, you will make your goals...and stay there!

Hey all - Happy Monday - a new work-week for me ( & new software launch day at work today...eeek.... hope it's ok ):svengo:

~ thanks Cate & Sarah for your encouragement -:seeya:... I think Sarah you are so right about this process being about putting thoughts into action.

.. and Cate - it is so True that each little-choice/little step does add up....

.....you are both such good examples of how this can be successful & maintained ....one step ....one thought....ever moving forward...

~ scale good this morning ( I luv the new digital scale - decimals of pounds - so accurate...) - I didn't gain with 2 days of eating out this weekend....yay ! those little daily choices worked - even at a buffet- I was able to keep it healthy .... learning so many new tricks as I go.... every little bit is starting to make sense & add up....

~ packed my lunch - healthy lunch on-hand will be my "armour" for the stress I'm thinking will be at work today with the new software ( the dept. will be busy - we'll have lots of support people checking/coaching)...& will remember your tip Sarah - if it gets too hectic for my noon walk - I am planning for an after-shift walk as my Plan B - but will make sure I get that walk in Every day this week!

cheers all , xx00 xxx

Maryann.

I 2 luv digital scales. Wish my taylor hadn't broke. Noticed that it has a 5 year limited warranty so I'll see if they honor it.

Hi all , Happy Tuesday

470.gif
I'm a much happier camper today - still getting used to the new software at work , but only 2 support folks hanging out with us today ( there were 6 of them "hovering" over us yesterday( was really distracting and nerve-wracking).

Calories today: 1,180 ( it's a 1,200 cal day- so that's ok )

Exercise: 1/2hr noon walk done, & plan for dog-walk tonite.

..hope everyone having a good-day with good choices !

cheers,

Maryann C.

Morning all - Happy Wednesday. ..well - that lovely new digital scale of mine is saying 0.7lbs. down this AM - so if I'm a good-girl next couple days & the stars-align...am hoping to knock-off 1 lb this week.... gotta be good !

calories today- 1180 ( budget today is 1,500) - so I'll likely add an aftn . snack ( as have calorie room )

exercise: plan is noon-walk & treadmill tonite ( last nite I did some "intervals" on treadmill - had a Dancing with the Stars episode on the TV - each time a dance song was on- I speeded up the treadmill to match the tempo of the song - was fun...& I did feel it raised my heart-rate up....

Wishing everyone a good-day with good choices,

cheers

Maryann
