Happy Friday all !


Free - glad U took your Choices t-shirt - ( now U just gotta remember to wear the darn thing & make sure some of the choices U make R healthy ones Dude ...lol.)


Calories today - pretty good - including the subway sub at lunch & a lite beer now ( after work-friday nite beer at home- a nice treat...)- daily total will be 1,523cals ( my budget today is 1,500- so am ok ).

Exercise today - the 1hr walk at noon ( I was so full of spit-vinegar after learing about that patient)....I WILL do this !

& tonite - out to do some fall-time yard work ( more gutter cleaning out , pruning shrubs etc.)-before the weather turns cold...


Weigh in today - scale a wee-bit lower - but not a full-pound - so I am calling a neutral-week ( no loss, no gain ).- but definately feeling more energy ( physical & mental) - definately Feels good to be doing healthy changes for myself.

So happy for you Maryann! Good job on that noon walk...I can just hear the excitement in your words as I read them! You are doing great...I know what you mean about the scale not moving this week..mine didn't move either, but hey, it didn't go the wrong way either! Keep up the great work and I'm lovin that you are feeling great..both physically and mentally!

Sarah- thx for the support & encouragement- as you say - have faith in the process, I am doing the work - the scale will catch-up next week.


Good day so far- did some holiday-trailer cleaning out this morning ( getting ready to do the winterize tomorrow and park for the season)

( that was a good 2hrs of physical work ).


Had healthy brkfst & lunch , now off for 1/2hr dog-walk , then errands & a family supper outing. :rolleyes: ( I am taking a broccoli salad - so that way - there will be a healthy choice for my plate for sure.)

Hi folks, Happy Sunday.


~ did ok on the family supper yesterday - kept to 1 smaller helping on each of the foods - fortunately , the meal was quite simple & healthy( 2 salads - including the brocoli one I brought ) - pork tenderloin, baked potatoes... just had a wee-bit (1/4 glass) of wine, and teenie slice b.day cake - the scale was good this morning ( actually looks like 1lb. down - so maybe my hard-work from this past week finally showing up . )


~ Plan for today - healthy food choices - going to try just sticking to healthy stuff, reasonable serving sizes & see what calorie total I get for the day .


Exercise - plan today : dog-walk in afternoon , treadmill tonite , and during the day - have lots of yard-work I need to do ( heavy frost/possible snow is forecast for this week - so I want to get more of my garden & flower-beds cleaned out before the weather shifts).

Getting cold up there yet?


Do you have a plan for that? Might want to think on it a bit. Luckily for me it only snows here like once or twice a year...(and then we go nuts and crash our pickups into each other)

Hi Brawny - yes - we get lots of snow here - my plan is tread-mill , still walk outside at noon ( I have good winter-wear) , and if gets too icy - will either increase tread-mill time or mabye dig-out my zumba DVDs ( being thinking to start those up soon anyway) - for some indoor - non-frosty exercise.

Monday morning was a nice suprise - one more pound lost ! yay. - slow-but-steady... I will get there.

( maybe the7 hours of yard-work yesterday helped....sheesh.... I was pooped last nite).


...rainy/cold here today - so will be just tread-mill tonite ,

calories today- target: 1,200, actual: 1,260 - so pretty good.)

( off to do some reading for work - training for a new software implement - ick ( our teacher was not very good today - need to re-read & learn a lot of it for myself )....

Hi all,

Thanks Cate for your support - & yup - was a major work-out in the garden on Sunday ( but weather is turning - really had to get it done - mother nature is great motivation).( I was pretty sore and achy Sunday nite.)


Weather pretty overcast & windy today too - have just a bit more to finish-up in garden ( need to pick the cherry tomatoes , then it is all done.) - am hoping will just take an hour or so.

~ tiring day today - day2 of computer training ( new software at work)- my brain hurts...( does Brain-work burn any calories? lol....) likely not !


~ calories today: 1,420 ( it's a 1,500cal day for me- so am ok ).

~ exercise - will do that 1hr outside work shortly , then plan for 1/2hr on treadmill tonite ( too windy/cold for doggy-walk - Koko will have to be happy with chasing around in the garden with me.)


Hope everyone having a good week, (fall-time is starting to kick-in here - ick ! )

Well I think if you are over weight since your childhood days I think it is much more difficult to lose weight.I have many friends that are really over weight since they are child.

Hi Jane - yes, I do find it does seem to be slower loss for me than some other folks - and definately slower now than even 5 yrs ago - middle-age sheesh- the fact that I have been overweight for most of my years tells me that my body naturally tends to favour weight-gain , and resist weight-loss- so to be slim - I have to make a daily effort to create habits to counter-against my body/mind natural trend to weight-gain.


~ But I have decided that living healthy is For ME - forever now - Made UP my Mind - am Sick& Tired of being SIck&Tired...I am on this road for Good now...

- I am Done with my past of junk-food & being lazy - self-indulging...

- My approach - I have surrounded myself with support & information ,and am totally avoiding all the "hype" plans, gimmicks , - just doing honest healthy choices - healthy food, daily exercise - doing it the healthy way .

- I am reading, learning lots about weight maintenance , I post & read on this site daily*(this one is a big help - it really keeps me focused) , log my food-daily, follow calorie budget/target for my BMR -with calorie totals alternating to a modified Katahn rotation diet , I listen to Fat2Fit podcasts (info & inspiration) , listen to some positive reinforcement downloads ( weight-loss hypnosis), have support of a co-worker ( each of us walks daily at noon ), watch a few "health-weight loss" shows on TV( to keep my mind on "healthy" mind-set ) , and have embraced DAILY exercise as Must Do( even if I'm tired,even if I don't feel like it - I make myself do at least a little-bit, even on the lazy- non-motivated days.) , and if I crave less-healthy food - I do allow myself some, just a taste , seems better than total denial -(that just builds up to a "food party" eventually - then get lots guilt, stall in loss etc.- not good.)


- Having the realization that these healthy-changes are Everyday for me- forever - has moderated my choices - as I do things/changes - I approach them for permanent routine - it puts a different light on things - I try each thing in more-moderation - as I consider only things that I are reasonable for me to keep-going long-term....

( good day today , did noon walk, plan for ZUmba DVD tonite ( did it last nite - got heart-rate up- and more fun than treadmill), calories - goal today- 1,200 , food-plan - 1,330 ...bit over - but 1,200 leaves me pretty hungry- so figure bit over is ok.
 
Maryann, you must really feel that you have reached a turning point in your life. I came to the same realisations at about the same age & being healthy has almost become my new religion. I am so happy for you!! Reading the what's you are doing for success, gives me inspiration to keep sticking with it...we're really quite similar in our approaches! & yes, its' suprising - how deciding my lifestyle changes are permanent, not just a weight-loss diet - has shifted my thinking... it really is such a good positive place to be at -....didn't realize how much guilt and worry came with the unhealthy lifestyle I had been living ( lazy & junk food - ) - and while getting started on this road was a bit tuff - I am finding each day a bit easier now - the healthy choices are becoming more habits -

- Have really got the DAILY Exercise as my habit now - even if I'm tired - I still do some - Everyday -no Ifs/Ands/or Buts......

- Just have to remember to be patient - I am eager to have my "outside" start to look more like how my "inside" is starting to feel - but it will come -

...as you say to us all Sarah - slow & steady - it's a journey- not a race !


Today is good so far- did my noon walk ( hip was a bit sore this morning ....maybe I over-did it a bit with the Zumba DVD last nite -but the music is so much fun...got a bit carried away )
