Maryann's trail....Rotation Diet "version"....

AJust a thought to share- I am actually starting to think that these changes I am making (eating/ exercise) might be worth making a permanent thing- even with the teeny bit weight loss so far, and slight improvement in cardiac(I already find I am walking faster and tire out less quickly) - I already feel so much better than I did a month ago- am thinking this may not be just a diet- might be from now-on & forever for me - the feeling healthier & the mental happier of doing something good for myself is feeling far more satisfying than a bag of chips! Gosh- & I really luv chips- I've been stuck on bad food for so long, forgot how good it feels to start shaking a bit free of it....

Cheers
Maryann

Maryann, that is great that you are coming to that realisation now as there is no way you can get to your goal weight & stay there unless you make permanent changes to your diet & lifestyle. Some people NEVER have that thought & think they can go back to eating whatever they used to & they are the majority, who unfortunately, put most of their weight back on.

Congratulations on having that insight now. It will hold you in good stead for a healthy & happy future. Cheers, xo Cate

Hi MaryAnn

Congratulations on the lost pounds! It was even better to read that you are feeling healthier and more energetic :hurray:

AHey Maryann,
What a nice way to start a Sunday,s reading about your resolve to make your lifestyle change truly a way of life! Like Cate said, some people go though their whole life and never get it! You can do it...it's a journey, it a race! I can practice what I preach most of the time, although I admit that sometimes, i get obsessed with the number on the scale, and just want to see it go down,,,now! I'm happy, and not surprised that you are starting to feel the difference already in the way you feel...that's the best type of feedback..that's the kind that will keep you going when you don't see the scale move or feel your clothes fitting looser..and ifnyou're like me (which I suspect!), you may have some days like that coming in your future...when you do, I suggest re reading some of these posts on this forum..it will help you remember how you felt when you started... And help you remember it's a journey, not a race! I'm so proud of you !! Together we can do it!

Sarah

Hi all,

~ good day today so far, had noon-walk, with plan for dog-walk & evening tread-mill to finish up the day for exercise.~ I'm thinking my sore knee finally all good - don't feel it at all today.

~ for food - I'm on 1,500/1,800cal daily rotation this week (per Free's modified Katahn rotation diet - thx Free :p

~ cals today: 1,506... tried one of those tins flavored tuna at lunch today ( italian flavor) - was a bit odd, had tried a tin of lemon-dill flavor on the weekend-that was much better- think I'll stick with that one .- a nice/easy protein to toss in my lunch bag - just added a cucumber - and sliced up/tossed together at lunch-time-worked really well.

.. did quite-well thru my camping weekend.....was a bit worried - camping for me&hubby usually means lots Junk Food - here's some pics of the food & exercise - I did lots of dog-walks ( lake had a really nice walking trail along lakeshore)., and took lots of veggies & fruit along ( was my "defense" to my hubby's Potatoe chips...) - and didn't take any sweets along At ALL !

- my strategy worked - I did ok ....had maybe 10chips all together the whole weekend - was much easier to stick to just a "taste" of chips- when my tummy was full of veggies.

cheers , wishing everyone a good week,

Maryann c.

My Veggies - Gooood !!

Hubbyy's Chips....baaaad :)

Walks by Lakefront - gorgeous....

Supper - Fresh trout ! ...yum ( hubby likes to fish...)

Hi Sarah - yup - was a bit-tuff for me getting started on this road -but am now so glad I did start. :seeya:.- your advice to take it one-day-at-a-time is so right-on , it's a journey , not a race, and the days are starting to add-up a bit & I am starting to feel better ! & it is a total suprise bonus to me to be feeling better- I was so focused on those numbers on the scale.......that didn't even think about being less-tired, more able to be active as part of the improvement ........I will definately keep in mind to check-back here on to the forum when I need inspiration to keep on course... Yup , We can do it !....if Sarah can do it & Maryann can too !

Hi Cate - yup - it was an 'ah-ha" moment for me....eating some broccoli & walking a bit each day - not such a hardship , when compared to how much better I am feeling already - I can totally do this "forever".... it is so worth it ! thanks for your wisdom & support,

cheers Maryann.

AHey MaryannC,
It's all about the little victories...one day at a time...sometimes, one moment at a time, but they do all add up, for all of us! Putting several days together, and before you know it, you'll have several months together and start looking at your pictures and remembering the moments, and looking at your body...it will change...I'm livin proof of that!
Let's have a great week and chock up another pound of weight loss!
Sarah

Hi all, here I am ...workin on another day - one-day-at-a-time, like yu say Sarah -little victories - keep 'em going- and they eventually add-up....

thx Free & Cate for the support- U are the best - it all helps.... :seeya:

wrote out my calories/food this AM ( it's a 1,800 cal day for me today - luxury ...after the week of 1,200/1,500 ) - I was actually ADDing food to my packed lunch- trying to get my total higher for the day- that was fun . -

so - calorie total today- 1,728

exercise: did my noon walk , & plan for dog-walk after supper, then evening Treadmill with TV . ( am hoping to get in 1.5hrs exercise/day this week - to keep (hopefullY) some loss with the 1,500/1,800cals/day.

Had to laugh at husband this morning - he was whining that I haven't baked any cookies for a while ....."why should he have to suffer just 'cause I'm being healthy?"...whine ...whine...poor baby - I told him cookies Not on my agenda these days...and not great for him either ( he's no skinny minnie himself)...so I told him - if he wanted cookies - feel free to buy some himself - but keep them somewhere in the house - that I didn't know or see....so I wouldn't be so tempted. :svengo:( oooo - such a mean wife I am ..... but I actually like to think of it as (finally) making my health a priority- Instead of ALWays putting others first ! good 4 me ?! ( I think that's good ....)

~ well, working thru my aftn snack - trying some yogurt( fat free/sugar free) mixed with grape-nuts cereal - the cereal has soaked up all the moisture from the yogurt- kindof become a very thick, gruel-like mess....but still edible...( athough I don't think I'll rush to try this combo again too soon )....

cheers all, good-week/good choices..... and here's a quote I read today: When Patterns are broken, New worlds emerge:...( Tull Kupferberg).- here's to all our New World's !

Hi all, calories target today - 1,500 - have kept bkfst/lunch pretty light ( 570 cals)- as we're going out for supper tonite- Indian food.... so have left about 900 cals to use at supper - plan: will stick to water/tea for beverage, I really like butter-chicken - looked it up- it's about 450cals for 5 oz. serving - so that leaves me 400cals for a bit of rice, and some veggies...., maybe a wee bit fresh fruit.(they usually have melon etc. ). - ok - wish me luck, off to do the treadmill now ( in case I'm too lazy after we're back - & I definately need that calorie burn today for the supper tonite.)

cheers all,

cheers all,

Maryann C.

Did ok with the supper out. Was Indian buffet .
th_Indian-Food-Recipe_img.jpg
Stuck pretty close to my plan - 1 serving rice, 1 serving butter chicken , lots veggies ( I started with the salad side - filled half my plate with salad, marinated cucumber/green pepper salad, cucum-radish salad , some sort of mushroom/pea salad, and only strayed a wee-bit - had 1 teenie bit fried-fish & 1 small piece of curry beef. Dessert - did stick to just a 1/4 bowl of mango custard & bit fresh fruit - No bread, none of those super-sweet cheese-ball things...

scale was kind this morning - No gain :driving: - yay ! navigated a supper-out without any major food-faux pas.

Hi folks,

calories today: 1,838

exercise: lunch walk & tread-mill ( no Koko walkies tonite - was helping clean-out eaves troughs- yuck - messy work)

~ hoping scale is kind tomorrow for weigh-in.:leaving:

cheers all, hope everyone having a good week,

Maryann.

Hey Free- Yes , I agree,:iagree: I am getting pretty worn-out on the hard-work of losing, then slacking-off and letting weight creep-back on , ....I am determined to get to my goal this time....but also , really really don't want to have to do this over yet again.....

......I did notice an interesting thing this summer though - during the spring- I was walking a 1/2hr each day on my noon break ( one of my co-workers does this ...& I felt inspired to try it too ).... my weight was stable thru whole-spring- no dieting...then , as summer kicked-in & it got fairly hot here - I got lazy & gave up the noon walk....(again - did not change eating at all) ....and sure enuf ....over the 2 & 1/2 months- 15lbs. crept-on......so it looks like - all it took was a 1/2hr day to keep my weight stable ....Suprising....

...I am thinking , once I get to goal weight , all I might need is reasonable/normal calories + a Daily wALK ! - I am pretty sure I can muster the oompf to do a 1/2hr - 1hr walk everyday - now that I am pretty-sure - something as simple as a daily walk is all that stands between me & staying slim for good.........that's a plan I can definately live with !

1 thing I've learned w/ my Dieting & Exercising is if U start eating junk & stop exercising then U will put back on all the weight and then some. I am determined not to do that again. I'm sick on being caught on this weight gain-loss yo yo.:smash:

Hi All ! HAppy FRidAy folks.

Good day today so far, - did 1hr for my noon walk ( normally just do 1/2hr)(it felt good ) -:gnorsi:

for lunch - we went to Subway - (co-worker really wanted to have a treat of lunch out on a Friday) - I picked the 6" roasted chicken /whole wheat (310 cals.)

~ & just water for my drink. -

~ & this morning- got some fresh motivation -- one of our patient's today ( I work in a hospital) - is newly diagnosed with diabetes - she has to start insulin - and she's younger than me ......not fun......

boy oh boy - that sure put some determination in my steps at my noon walk - I'm not diabetic yet - but if I dont' keep these healthy changes going - that could easily become my fate too....

so....NO Junk/ No Lazy - Everyday - Forever 4 me . -make Daily walk non-negotiable- .

hope everyone has a good weekend, full of good choices ....:auto:
