This is important, clear evidence you are going in the right direction, good for you!lost .6 pounds this week
Not so important, progress in the right direction matters more than speed. I know we all get reinforcement when we see the scales go down, but we also have to be careful not to get too dependent on it. As you know losing weight is always a two steps forward and one back thing.I am behind 1 pound
Good point, or maybe a horror film. That raccoon story sounds like the beginning of a strange art film!
Thanks, Rob! Noted!we all get reinforcement when we see the scales go down, but we also have to be careful not to get too dependent on it.
Good for you! Deserving of one of your drum rolls!the scales actually moved for me this morning! I am at 174.6 now, so lost 5.3 pounds so far
IF. Lately I've been feeling like I do have the inner reserves to learn to take care of myself and not indulge the urge to snack constantly to stave off anxiety or want easy, instant gratification through food.
I love everything about this post, MThanks Amy and Petal. I guess my fast time looks long because I have been eating breakfast so early, but it's the same as when I used to eat at 8 and stop eating at 4. What's weird about fasting is that it gives me energy. My body isn't bogged down digesting, and because I ate good food, it is happy and fulfilled for the most part. I still have to get over stress eating or eating as a form of entertainment, but having a window where I don't eat for quite a while is good practice for that. So I am really happy that Cate introduced me to IF. Lately I've been feeling like I do have the inner reserves to learn to take care of myself and not indulge the urge to snack constantly to stave off anxiety or want easy, instant gratification through food. I feel appreciative that people are made this way where we can tap our inner resources. Society doesn't seem to teach this as much anymore, but I think it used to. I think the culture is too driven by focus on the external now, and we are all learning to find different inner strengths. It's really wonderful to do that together!!
That I absolutely do agree with. Taking pride in what you do is a great thing - although it also lead can lead to people overworking themselves badly.Hi LaMa - good point! But also before the emphasis was on creating convenience, hard work was thought to build character, and there was a pride in hand workmanship and things like that, at least in the farming culture I was raised around older people talked about that a lot. It's probably not universal though, you are right.
Good for you! I know that must feel nice.Today I put on a shirt we bought me in New York City before my pregnancy, and it actually fit! It has skinny arms and waist and they look good. (Yay for drumming and chain sawing - my arms are almost normal!) The chest doesn't fit as well, but that seems to be shrinking finally, and anyway, I am just glad I can wear it again.
