Marsia's Diary

Marsia I think I’m going to have to try some resistance training listening to all you ladies toning up . Seems like I will build it into my task tomorrow

Hi Petal, it's been really good for me to just do a little each day slowly and build up my very out of shape muscles. I hope it makes you feel really great, too!!

You are killing this Marsia. You're getting fitter & fitter, healthier & healthier AND inspiring others, including me!

Great, Petal! I'll be sure to keep doing it every weekday so we can get strong together!

Thanks, Cate!!! You guys really inspire me, so it's nice to return the favor!!

Today we did a lot of music practice for the play and went out and played lacrosse in the park a while. It was tiring because I was charging and yelling how I was going to steal the ball and we would wind up laughing too hard to have any strength left to run any further. So in between goals we collapsed on the grass. Then we went to a cafe and I drew my first exercise from my art book. So it was a nice lazy day. I need to go get some sweat pants for going to the gym because my old ones all fall off me now!

I like Petal's exercise of writing what you want your life to be like a year from now and also how you might go about getting there. So here goes.

1. I want to be more spiritually attuned - to really study what spiritual people mean by "love" and "awareness" and to be more loving and aware. So I have a big pile of lovely books that it is time to read. I'll also continue getting up an hour early to meditate, and will practice being open and accepting with meeting people to break out of social anxiety more and more.

2. I want to incorporate creativity into my life in a big way. I have been putting this off because I feel overexposed but it is time to do art and not care who likes it or doesn't. This includes making my house cozy and gardening and wearing nice things that I love. Just expressing myself more!

3. I want to get chores and exercise down to a routine. I like the idea of getting exercise out of the way first thing like Jenni does. I am going to go buy sweats next and use them tomorrow - I'll go to the gym right from the bus stop and get my exercise done first thing. Also I want to figure out how to get the housework more manageable - this definitely involves getting rid of a lot of stuff. I watched Marie Condo on Netflix and am inspired to go through things and pair way down! I need to go through clothes desperately and figure out what size I am now and get rid of all the stuff that is too big. A lot of my clothes are way in the back of the basement in bins. This is going to be a big undertaking!

That's my main focuses I think!

Great goals! I de-clutter on a regular basis & have a bag full of stuff to go to the charity shop today. 2019 :D It's going to be a positive year.

Thanks LaMa and Cate! I am going to start with my kitchen because I bought that Instant Pot and have no place to put it because the cupboards are so full. Also there is a lot of non-low fat stuff in the cupboards that I need to donate. There is a thrift store that has a donation box for seniors in need, so I have a good place to put everything that isn't expired yet. I like my list of goals - not too strict, but things I am very motivated to do, so I hope to keep looking back at it for inspiration!

Today I didn't get it in gear to get out of the house. I cooked a lot and did squats and all sorts of variations of squats with J, lifted light weights, and did some exercises on the stairs. It's rainy and cold and my legs are jelly, so I'll stop with exercise for today so I am not tremendously sore tomorrow. I ate well, half a cup of pistachios for breakfast, lots of kimchee and sausage for brunch, a huge spinach salad with balsamic dressing and Greek olives and cheese for dinner and a side of fresh beef liver pate with bacon in it flavored with fresh rosemary. The foods sound weird together but they were really good!

If you think your food sounds weird, then I'm weird. :D
It sounds like you have had a good day, Marsia xo

Yeah, force of habit to call things low fat. I did mean low-carb. Thanks! I agree, average is way over-rated!

Marsia that sounds excellent. In one way I really wish I didn’t have to work because time is such a constraint to me .

Regarding housework I did a half hour yesterday and I think I just need to do that everyday but will do my spring clean too . I decluttered last year if you recall it was great but took me about 5 weeks . T has made a huge difference .

We will revisit our plans in a while see how we are getting on . I copied my post into my notepad app so can reread it later easily

I think your foods sound wonderful - it inspires me to do a bit more cooking instead of easy meals! I kinda blew it this weekend for diet :( I am back on it, though!

Thanks everyone! I am glad I like cooking and glad to work from home so I can put a pressure cooker on and have instant food with just a little prep. The reason my cupboards are really full is that I love convenience appliances like the Vitamix and the electric fry pan and crock pot and ... I actually need to get the rest of my chores and exercise down like I have cooking down.

I wrote a big long letter to an old friend about my life since around age 25 and I was so pleasantly surprised. I had a wild, happy college time studying art and psychology followed by never finding my place in society for years and years, followed by this relationship where I built a nice family and home and feel at home with myself so much more than I ever did. It was like one of Petal's exercises to sum up my post-college life in a way where I could be very honest but appreciative of my life thus far. And the best thing is that I feel happy with things. Sorry to wax poetic so much, I think it's the weight loss and seeing that this is a good time to re-evaluate things in my life!
