Marsia's Diary

Lol I am laughing because I forgot to check and came in house and have walked a bit so I have 4389 done now . I will try remember to check it again .

LLol I am beginning. Think that the watch providers are selling us all a pipe dream . Haha
I do like that they show with the Fitbit how much of the time you are in fat burning vs the other peak or cardio modes where your heart rate is more elevated because in fat burning mode you don't burn as many calories but you burn more fat. And I think it's pretty great that it knows I am riding my bike and tracks if I am coasting or actually getting real exercise. So though it might just be a heart rate monitor with a gyroscope, the little buzzer to reward me to do 10,000 steps is working, so I'm ok with it not being totally accurate. It's sort of like my calorie counting. It's not totally accurate, but it helps a lot anyway!

I had a funny thing happen last night. I went to track my food in Fitbit and the food tracking interface was changed to some really super lame interface that was nearly impossible to use, that gave way less nutritional info than before, and that a few hundred people went online and complained about, including me. And this morning the interface was back to normal. The company actually listened to it's users!

I have been having periods of high energy lately, something I haven't had for the last few years. I think getting back in shape is really paying off. I was starting to get really concerned with how tired I was and how little I got done in a day. Here's to a really productive autumn!

That sounds like a very good idea.
I wear my Fitbit on my ankle when I play golf as it doesn't chart my steps anywhere near accurately because I am not swinging my arms walking with a buggy.
I guess I'll just try to swing my arms a little less then! Thanks for letting me know!

Companies actually listening to their customers instead of treating us as a nuisance? Signs and wonders!

I love the fat burning display on the Fitbit too. I can see when I check online where I was in my game of golf. Oh, yes- that was that steep hill etc. Some companies listen, but it is always a surprise :)

I think the applecwatch is pretty accurate too . Kept an eye on it last night . I love that it tracks my exercise minutes so I try to do 30 min minimum a day . I know I can go walking with the dog and daughter for 2 hours in the forest and I'm lucky to get 15 min clocked but it records the steps and the movement for that . The watch set me a challenge for October to clock 1100 mins of exercise. September i managed 1081 . That's an average of 36 mins per day aerobic exercise . It challenges me to burn 370 cals a day on top of my normal resting calories . I like meeting my challenges too Marsia ! Keeps us motivated.

I feel the same . And I'm sleeping remember when I first started on here I hadn't slept properly in years . Just hope the weight loss will start to follow suit

My diet makes a huge difference in my energy levels. I have much more energy when I eat less. It's kinda mind-blowing, actually.

Digestion takes a lot of energy. While you´re busy digesting your body favors the digestive tract with its blood supply and suppresses (the desire for) "unnecessary" movement that´d require more blood flow to the extremities/muscles instead. That´s what I think, anyway, based on what I know about the autonomous nervous system.

You are doing so great with the exercise, and I bet you will do just as well with moderating simple carbs and sugar! I felt so better not having sugar/simple carb crashes anymore!

I am so tired today. Took a nap, made it to the big warehouse grocery store, came home and ate, and am folding clothes in bed now. Need another nap. I feel like I am fighting something off, so will just take it easy today and leave things for tomorrow. Hope everyone is doing great!

I hope you're not getting sick. It's a good idea to take a rest & give your body a chance to recoup xoxo

Thanks, Cate. I feel like my glands are a little swollen, so am taking it easy. I ignored how tired I was the last few days thinking it was just adjusting to the new diet and being pooped out from exercise, but I think it's time to sleep and laze a couple of days! I tried to answer some journal entries, but I am a little brain dead, so will read everyone's entries tomorrow. Have a good day over there where the sun comes up first!

Hi! I am feeling somewhat better today. Just tired and achy now, so will probably be all better in a day or two. Have a brain again - yay! I got an Instant Pot for myself (electric pressure cooker/crock pot) so I am sitting around listening to youtube videos on how to use it without blowing myself or the house up. I felt so grumpy about my diet yesterday, how I miss veggies so much, so I was looking at cookbooks and saw a nice one on Indian food and made myself a nice coconut curry soup with cilantro and lots of green onion in it and felt so better and so happy to get veggies in that were not the usual greens. It made me feel a lot better. So may do a lot more Indian cooking - the spices are really flavorful and make me happy!

Herbs and spices make everything better. Hope you'll love your new gadget and will make us all jealous with your new recipes!
