Marsia's Diary

I'm glad you feel better too Marsia. I love curries! I can't imagine not eating many veggies :(

Was too tired to write much last night but boy I had that brain fog too . I was doing some really stupid things in work , driving , forgetting things . It's horrid isn't it . It's such a shame we feel we are doing so well with our exercise and food changes then bs g our bodies give up . But I think we are learning g to listen to them and hopefully all will be back on track soon .

Indian food is delicious indeed. I just love spicy food, though! Glad to hear you are on the mend and the brain is working again. I think that is the worst part of being sick. I really dislike feeling that fogginess.

I felt better enough yesterday to make my first pot of stew in the Instant Pot. It came out yummy, and didn't blow anything up! Also did the big mound of dishes waiting for me, so I am definitely getting better. I am still that sort of tired where after you go up the stairs you feel winded, so taking it easy the rest of the weekend, for sure.

I am definitely not going to do the low carb diet once I lose enough weight. There is practically no fiber - how does anyone ever poop?! And I dislike eating dairy besides hard cheeses and yogurt, and a big draw about that diet is that you can eat full fat dairy. So I think I will do paleo (with the exception of hard cheeses, which I love) after I lose the weight, and this time not go crazy with gluten free baking, and that should be low carb enough to maintain my weight without being so restrictive. But I will give the low carb diet a good try and see if I can get down to 160 pounds on it. It does help me to be more disciplined about what I eat, and I am not a disciplined person by nature, so hopefully that skill will transfer over! There are good principles in the low carb diet that I do like though. Eating healthy fats does fill me up and I don't get cravings. Watching that I get enough protein but not too much has been really good so far, too. So there are really good aspects to it, too!

It's a gorgeous fall day here. I feel a little sad because there were a lot of nice socializing things this weekend that I was looking forward to that I had to cancel. But I will still enjoy the day. Maybe we'll go pick some apples and make applesauce for my kid. Also it's time to make Halloween costumes. We are going to be Kitsune (Japanese fox trickster women) this year.

That´s the good thing about trying out different diet styles: you learn the pros and cons of different food items. The danger for some people is that they might adopt each diet´s restrictions but not its freedoms, thus eating less and less varied over time. Glad you´re not doing that!

LaMa, that would be horrible! I am having a hard enough time without putting further restrictions on myself. I would hate to be one of those rule-bound people. Life is for living!!

I'm glad you are starting to feel better, Marsia, & sorry that you have missed out on some social occasions this weekend. You know how to turn lemons into lemonade though, xoxo

Marsia I felt the same . I was stressing yesterday about all I had planned but once I cancelled everything I just felt relief . Glad you are all positive though .

Your halloween costume idea sounds fabulous! How fun! I seem to function better on some carbs, but they don't have to be things like bread and muffins. Fruits & sweet pot do the trick for me. Glad to hear you are feeling better!

Thanks Petal! I probably could have dragged myself to some of the things I had planned, but I didn't want to give this to anyone, so I stayed home and had a mellow day, and I felt relieved about it, too. Hope you are feeling better! I'm mostly better now, just a little weak, so have to wait to do a lot for a day or two.

Hi Jenni! I thought I couldn't do without some carbs from the more "stick to your ribs" veggies, but substituting healthy fat is working so far. I am eating a lot of coconut milk, olive oil, nuts and seeds, and avocado. It was so hard to force myself to eat fat, but I am losing weight doing this, so it does seem to work. There are baked sweet potatoes in the fridge, and it is hard not to eat them!

I'm getting there slowly too my head still really full of crap . Not pleasant ! Glad you getting there

Hi Petal! I am almost better, but that kind of "better" where if I do too much, I'll backslide. So I did a lot of work on the computer yesterday and less house and yard work. But it is nice out, so I really want to go outside today into the garden and at least try to do just a little digging if I can. You know that feeling where if you get warm sunshine on your back it feels healing? That's what I think I would like some of today. Hope you feel better soon! Sending you waves of healing vitamin C!!!

I am reading a keto book by Suzanne Ryan who lost over 120 pounds and I thought I would post a nice quote from her for inspiration:

"Before I eat anything, I ask myself two questions:
1) Am I truly hungry , or am I stressed, bored, emotionally eating, thirsty, etc.?
2) Is what I'm about to eat going to help me reach my goals?"

I try to remember this when I open the refrigerator to graze!
