Marsia's Diary

Hope you got some of that sunshine on your back, Marsia. Sometimes I think I must have been a lizard in another life as I love soaking up the sunshine. :)

Thanks Cate! I went and sat in the sun and read my keto book and found really yummy recipes. Most of them in the book are going to be really good, so I think I can make this diet work. Plus it was relaxing to sit in the sun with the cats. You were a lizard, and I think I was a house cat (or maybe I still am!)

Today I only cooked and did absolutely nothing else. I think I need a walk a little later! But it is good because I am still tired around the edges and all of the sudden will feel like a ton of bricks. So I am forced to relax. Oh, well, go with the flow!

Marsia I think you and I had the exact same virus . That's exactly how I have been feeling . Thankfully on the mend now . I asked my friend yesterday to not buy me cakes or pastries anymore as she does on a Thursday. I felt bad asking her but I feel guilty if she buys and I don't eat so I explained I really need to lose some weight . Hate to offend anyone . After reading your quote I'm pleased I said it .

I'm going to check out that keto book. When I get hungry, I look for fast snacks, which can be a bad thing if there are crackers, chips, etc. at hand. Yesterday I bought a big bag of almonds, so I have those to turn to instead of the carbs. Hope you heal up quick!!

I like the image of running around like a blue bottom fly, LaMa! Can't wait!!

Last night we worked on our fox masks and watched "Leave No Trace", which is a father/daughter version of "Into the Wild". It was really good, and a little sad. I made my first recipe from the keto book which was a very yummy Caeser salad dressing that got me happy about eating salad again! I lost another half pound sitting around yesterday, and I ate enough sesame seeds so that I am regular again (sorry if TMI !) so am feeling more myself again!! Also my husband is successfully doing a 6/18 fast and is eating keto food with me. He isn't tracking calories, but he is eating basically what I eat.

Jenni, you probably know this, but just be careful to look up the calories on the nuts. Them and nut butters are great for quenching cravings and so healthy, but also highly fattening, so I measure them out for snacks. With almonds I actually count out 25 of them for my snack and savor them! I went back in my journal and found a good food list you might like.
Found a list of foods that are healthy and are filling that Aloe posted in a forum here:
"The scientists discovered two amino acids - arginine and lysine - that react most with tanycytes, the brain cells that control our hunger.
The following foods are high in these acids and are therefore make you feel full:

1. Chicken
2. Turkey meat
3. Pork shoulder
4. Cheese, especially parmesan
5. Anchovies
6. Tuna
7. Mackerel
8. Crabs
9. Almonds
10. Walnuts
11. Pistachios
12. Peanuts
13. Almonds
14. Sesame seeds
15. Tahini

If you get the "Simply Keto" book let me know how you like it! Maybe I'll post a couple of her easier recipes if I try them and like them!

Petal, Glad you are feeling better and that you got your friend to stop bringing you sugar! I'm glad my little quote helped you, too!

"Leave No Trace" was one of those slow paced movies where you don't even know how, but you feel like you have joined the main characters on their journey. There wasn't even that much dialog, but it was so well done. And it showed poor people as people who are compassionate and real, instead of the Hollywood versions, which aren't usually very flattering. So I really enjoyed it!

I can't tell you how much better I feel to have figured out my digestion on this diet and how much fiber I can get in while still being low carb. I think that was the sticking point for me, and I think I have worked it out how to deal with the lack of many fiberous veggies! I feel like an old person writing about it though. Let's all raise our glasses of prune juice and toast to being regular!

Lol think we should have a happy national poop day . They seem to have days for everything else . I swear by prune juice or natural yoghurt with few tinned prunes . My friends husband suffers horrendously with constipation and he swears by black coffee so strong it looks like treacle .

Have a lovely weekend Marsia .
Thanks, Petal, you, too!

Yesterday was an 18,000 step day, so I am sore today. I felt like I didn't have time to sit down yesterday, but I got the property cleared of all the old construction debris, finished paper macheing our masks, got my mom to her appointment across town in crazy traffic, got my JavaScript code working for teaching my kid coding (I made a Mad Libs program), and made Filipino tamarind soup in the Instant Pot. We have a full weekend ahead so I'd better go cook and clean for company on Sunday. Hope everyone is having a great weekend!

O wow you were so active! No wonder you´re sore...
